The only PN-G affiliation with the YMCA I know about is when the entire PN-G crowd started dancing to the song before the LC-M game. ;DBy the way, am I the only one who thinks it's ironic that the school with the smallest jumbotron in the district does the best job with it during all the pre-game festivities? LC-M has some fun with it.

If you look up Attakapas..lots of feathers. In 1980 we were presented with the official seal of the Cherokee Nation.

In any case, we actually chose the team name 'Indians' back in 1925 because of the pre-columbian presence of the Attakapa and Karankawa tribes in the area, not necessarily because of the Cherokee; that affiliations wasn't conceived until 32 years later when the fight song was arranged. But none of that stopped the Cherokee tribe from adopting PN-G in 1980. Nor did it stop the Texas State History Museum from putting our mascot's uniform and one of our drum majorette headdresses on display. ;)
