kerusso Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 My question is this... Lets say WO-S or any other school for that matter makes it to state in Volleyball this year. This will most certainly conflict with football games....So Do you cancel the football game?...isnt it the same thing or are some sports less important than others --4A doesn't even play on Friday nights in Volleyball at the State Tournament. 3A plays at like 1 PM. --Football is king. So no you don't cancel a game or scrimmage even. Maybe move the day on game at best. --Football plays a minimal number of games. Baseball plays and plays. --It is only a round robin baseball tournament not a district contest or anything. People pull out of basketball tournaments all the time. Solution usually is to throw some poor JV team in the brackets. Sounds like a good chance for the Jasper JV and maybe one of the other schools JV to get in a high quality game.
Guest Orangeboy Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 i dont think so...i seriously doubt that if Jasper was in the state tourney they would cancel all their baseball games and leave all the other teams hanging I agree totally, I don't think the baseball team should suffer because of another successful program in a particular school. Support yes, but not shut things down totally.
KFDM COOP Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 The WOS Baseball kids want to go to the game in Austin...Thanks
Homer Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Once again, WO-S has 5 varsity baseball players on the basketball team. Supposedly some of the other kids on the team said they wanted to go play baseball on Thursday and if the basketball team makes it to the state campionship game they want to go watch. Is the team supposed to play with 6 or 7 people or does the coach get out on the field and play to make it 8 or 9. Sounds to me like these kids have good support for each other, and maybe the ones on the baseball team want to go support their fellow baseball teammates who play basketball in their quest for the ultimate goal. It is very easy to stand back and criticize when you are not thrown into that situation. Some people look for any chance they have to bash WO-S. Good Luck Mustangs.
kerusso Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 And missing a couple games in a round robin tourney shouldn't dissuade them from going to support their classmates and community. There will be other baseball games to play. Good luck to the stangs.
KFDM COOP Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Jdawg will give me updates so i can post scores.
tripleplay Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 To clear up one misconception, Lumberton backed out of the Nederland tourny before their girls won. The trip to state was just an easy excuse, fact is the decision was made before.
KFDM COOP Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Lumberton could only go to two Tournments this year. Lumberton didn't intend to go to the Nederland Tourney.
jcs3rd Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 To tell you the truth i dont think LCM is going to be as good as people think they are this year. Not saying that they arent good
