Well said, Groveton is no pushover and [b]IMO has the best Backfield we have played[/b].  Tackling on Defense will be paramount this week cause one missed tackle and these guys can take it to the house quickly. Focus has been a strength of this Team/Coaches all year.  I believe the Pirates will be concentrated on the task at hand which is to beat the Indians in the biggest game of the year for them.

89falcon, I can see that your mind is made up when it comes to the Pirates. What I can not understand is your fascination with the junior class and why you will not give any credit to the new staff. The juniors are some very talented players, but with the Pirates having over 60% senior starters, how is this a young junior dominated group. Do you really think this team could perform on this high level under last years coaches? Give the new coaches and the seniors some credit. We also have an outstanding soph. #4, a couple of other sophmores that contribute. I think every Pirate player from the 2nd string JV substitute to the two way Varsity starter and all the coaches should get credit for this strong season. Great job to everybody envolved, the whole Pirate community is behind you guys.

IMO that every player contributes even kids that don't see the field much because they are getting the team looks at practice for the upcoming games. Deweyville will always have hard hitting kids and they will play with heart everytime they touch the field.

Is this the only post of mine that you've read about D-ville? I have had nothing but respectful things to say! I'm glad to see yall having success. I've commented several times on how the attitude of the players and the atmosphere of our game was greatly improved. But, what you must forget is that just a short year ago we won that district! So that means that I have watched Groveton. And while I'm sure that they have improved, I don't think that they match up anywhere close to the backfield that the Wolves' have. Just like I said, IMO if they are better equipped than we are yall are in a lot of trouble considering that you couldn't stop us. Again I say, Good Luck! Please look back and read some of my other posts before you start ruffling feathers! I will be following yall in the playoffs and cheering you on!

Groveton's backfield is improved this year, if you haven't seen them [b]this year [/b] then you wouldn't know that therefore you do not have all the info you need to make an informed decision. I don't have to go read your posts, I already read them and I stand by my post. Not gonna rehash our game this year, just check the stats of the game and I believe you will see that we did stop SA on several possessions. Good luck to SA, regardless we still support the Wolves.

No fascination, I just know they are good. DV is going through the process of a having a good class maturing. Decent last year, good this year, better next year. Groveton is a year behind you, SA is a year ahead of you, Alto is in the same year as you, etc. You may not recognize it but every coach knows the drill. I am thoroughly acquainted with your program. I have said nothing derogatory about DV, you folks make it difficult to wish your team well. At the 1A and small 2A level, a single class or handful of players makes a big difference. When they leave, the impact is greater than at the larger schools. Look at Tenaha this year. They have the same coaches but they are not nearly as good as last year. SA is better than last year and they will take a step back next year. Alto will be one of the best teams in the state next year.

My nephew is on the team, and I wish the Pirates best of luck.  We were able to make one of the games and Joey had several nice runs.  Strong line, great running game, and opens the pass up.  Groveton will be a stiff test, but you've prepared yourself for it.  Be anxiously awaiting the updates as we will be in Houston for a baseball tourney.

    I must have missed the part were you wished the Pirates well, and let me thank you for you good wishes if I overlooked them. There is no need to explain to me about 1A and 2A football and the fact that a small group of talented kids can make or break a team. I am fully aware of that fact. The question for you was: Do you think this years team would perform on this high level with last years coaching staff?
    I do hope you are right about next years team, because two district titles in a row would be great. I still think you do not realize the impact it will have on this team to graduate 15 senior starters. You are  probably right about the decline in two years, but with the great coaching we have, the boys will be ready to play.

[/quote]  It could have something to do with the fact that you guys base out of spread with 1 or 2 at most backs at any given time.  We base out of 3 back and have 6 pretty good ones, 5 of which have gone over 100 or 200 many times in individual games.  Plus our QB goes for 150 every once in a while to go with it.  As far as y'all beating us, y'all may could if we played y'all as inconsistent as we have at times this year.  If the team showed up that pounded Alto 40-20 on week 1, you may be in a bind.  Enjoy 1A and just be glad we turned in 204.  There would be another rooster in the Region 3 - 1A hen house.......

I think there was a sigh of relief come out of yalls district when we moved down! Two years ago when Groveton was supposed to be so big and bad and blow everybody out of the water you couldn't get but a 2 point victory over a sophomore filled Wolf team. We still all remember how last year turned out! Your right there aren't any Cushings in your district just Hemphills and Anderson Shiros! By the way, there are three teams in our "2 man show" that have top 10 rankings there hoss!

Here we go again...........Thrashing???  I wouldn't call 26-14 a thrashing.  From what I remember, Deweyville took a lead into the 4th quarter of that game.  Y'all beat Hemphill 46-6??.......we had 51 points before the 3rd was over and the 2's were already playing......comparing common opponents is not going to help your argument.  Once again, see Alto game.  Glad you remember 2 years ago......I still remember the 80's-90's when you were our punks most every year.  That is about as relevant to this year as 2 years ago when we BEAT you at YOUR HOUSE.  This all started because someone gave us a complement and you couldn't stand the fact that, in that compliment and in their opinion, we were better than you at one aspect of the game.  Get over yourself........
