deep east texas Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 Per smoaky.com...Chester AD/HFB coach has resigned after Supt. told him he would be reassigned as a custodian or cafeteria worker.
AggiesAreWe Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 I am hearing that Robert Sells will be taking over.

WOSgrad Posted November 6, 2012 Report Posted November 6, 2012 Nope, he is just like the coach that resigned, he is way too young to be coach.Seriously though, I hope this doesn't rob both Chester and High Island of the chance to play their game on Friday.
Guest donniebarnwell Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Ready for the old school Chester Yellowjackets to be back in the mix..they need to go back to 11man

Heck they hardly have enough to be 6-man.

In fact, the now ex-coach posted on a dedicated six man site that Chester played most of the season with more or less just 6 players. I hope that this is just an anomoly for the 'Jackets because there is no level to move down to from here.

oldman Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Lufkin Hudson has never had football on any level. At one time it was brought before the board to start it in middle school , but it was nixed by the powers up top.
skipmeister Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 I could have been the head football coach and turn it into a contender even as an 11 man program!

They play because they love the game and they chose to play. Chester may not have the kids that most six man team schools have but they play harder than most 11man teams I have ever watched. Chester needs your support now not your criticism.

I am looking at a statement by the coach of the team this years that said that Chester played most of the time with 6 players. I am looking at Chester's schedule which shows not only 1, but 2 forfeits, this season due to not having enough players to take the field.I hope that Chester football remains viable, but this years looks erily familiar to a couple of years ago which resulted in Chester deciding that it could no longer compete in 11 man football.
Chester86 Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 From friends that still live there, they tell me the younger groups have more students. They have told me the jr. high has a pretty good group. It is disappointing to see, but I have faith the 'Jackets will get through this.
little d Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 The jr high does have better numbers and as of last night they won thier game against High Island to give them the district crown. 8) ;D
