All I know is that Troup is 9-1. Could anyone fill me in with more info on how they are? Good news for the Bucs is they are hitting their stride at the right time. Defense is flying to the ball and the offense is starting to click again

TOUGH draw for the Bucs in first round. The district we face had 4 teams in a virtual tie for first place before Friday, and although Tatum is likely the best, Troup (and White Oak) were right in the mix. Troup's record is 9-1:

Ford       27 - 20  Win
West Rusk 40 - 0  Win
Quitman 41 - 0  Win
@ Arp 33 - 13  Win
@ Huntington 49 - 20  Win
Jefferson 26 - 22  Win
@ Tatum 14 - 10  Win
White Oak 38 - 28  Loss
Harmony 20 - 16  Win
@ Sabine 42 - 16  Win

Elsewhere, Troup was described as "well disciplined, balanced, and loaded". Note Troup was the only team to beat Tatum. EC will need to play their best game of the season to compete. Go Bucs!

I played against Troup in the semi-finals way back in 79. We beat them but by only one point.(22-21)all I can tell you is that they were the toughest team i ever played against, but they were not in the best shape. Thats how we beat them in my opinion, they ran outta gas in the 4th quarter!

Having coached against Troup this year, they are well balanced.  Their QB is a dangerous weapon and is hard to catch in the open field.  #50 and #34 are their best defensive players.  #34 is their best running back and probably their best all around player.  Their kicker is also a weapon because he can pin you deep.  All I can say is that the good thing is that EC doesn't have to come to Troup, where Dennis Alexander gets what he wants from the officials.  Take it to them EC.  Good Luck to the Bucs and all of my old coaching buddies down there( Coach East, Fontenot, Todd, Leday).

I'll be attending this game and pulling for EC, hoping to see a good performance by their running back. ;D
I would go if this was a Saturday night game and not Thursday night. I still got til Tuesday to change my mind since it is in my 2nd home.

Yep.....Roberts is their everything. Send 8 guys his way and the other 3 defenders for the rest of them. We took him out of the game last year and ended up beating them 45-7 in the 3rd round last year. Make no mistake....the kid can play, hes a great talent. He is small but fast and shifty. I personally think Alexander will get his guys to maul a one star(player) team like this. Alexander will know to devote his attention to Roberts on defense. And offensively, what Troup does(which is mix it up well) should walk down the field fairly easily on a not so athletic team. Our district is very athletic...Tatum, Jefferson, and White Oak prepared Troup very well for the playoffs. Even Harmony showed you the ball control side of things......you guys have seen some tough football teams. East Chambers would have finished 5th maybe 6th in our district.....

Go get 'em Tigers. Make 9AA DI proud. "

It will be that much sweeter when EC wins, one could make an argument that nobody from dist. 9 would have made the playoffs in dist.10.

Take it to em' Bucs!

Hmmm... We got a Troup coach that intimidates officials, will have his players "maul" EC's Roberts, and EC is a "5th or 6th place" team. Hmmm, getting interesting here...  :o
