bulldog2996 Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 You Deweyville guys remember who knocked you out of the playoffs those 2 years??? I know this topic was started for fun, but Newton is in a different class than Deweyville, both enrollment wise & talent wise. As for the answer to my earlier question, it the Bulldogs from Corrigan-Camden. We have had some really good teams over the years, but we have beaten Newton exactly 1 time. Tradition is firmly implanted at Newton & CC, with both schools the home to State Championship trophies in football & track. What is the purpose of my post?? Go play Elysian Fields & win some games in November. We in Polk County were impressed with Deweyville's progress under new coaches, as in years past y'all were classless towards different ethnicities. Good luck next week.

Deweyville has always supported Newton and will continue to do that. No one would ever seriously consider this matchup this year or the future it's just that big a difference in teams. Tradition is earned with Dist Championships and playoff wins which both Newton and CC has, Deweyville has none. Appreciate the compliment for the present Deweyville program, they deserve credit. As for the classless part, there is always two sides to that story and we can let that dog lay.
bulldog2996 Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Fair enough. Elysian Fields has talent & they've been here before. I believe Deweyville can exploit their defensive linemen & run between the tackles with success. Best of luck & I hope y'all win. Lufkin's a great atmosphere for playoff football. Be safe with your travels & enjoy it.

I do think we could beat them this year though and that is just my opinion, and again you are correct about winning some games we do need to prove ourselves and I think we will start to do that Saturday, THANKS for the compliments.

I don't think it's all of Deweyville, but I have heard several different stories from several different towns. Makes one wonder. I wonder who their captain is ? LOL ::) Every dog has it's day.

pirate supporter Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 think it is about time the moderators lock this thread. it is ridiculous that grown men are stooping to these levels when the important thing at hand is to boost the students up and get them pumped for the game they WILL be playing on Saturday. Grow up and move on and stop trying to win in the cut downs already.
finger roll Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Glad to see D-ville doing well but lets don't get carried away. Deweyville shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Newton period. Deweyville is not even in the same class with EC. EC was putting it on Deweyville regularly. I am glad to see Deweyville enjoy success in their new district. Enjoy your run and stop talking about how you would beat Newton and EC because that is just silly.
APanthers Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 They are in 2a . But Newton would still blow them out

PawPaw Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 No contest... Newton by as much as WT would want.
Eazy Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 Why are we still discussing a hypothetical matchup that would certainly be a blowout?
TDICKER Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 DEWEYVILLE TAKE SOLACE IN THE FACT THAT YOUR TEAM IS DOING A GREAT JOB THIS YEAR AND DO NOT PONDER ABOUT GAMES THAT DID NOT AND WILL NOT HAPPEN,THEY PLAY THE GAME FOR A REASON.YOUR TEAM COULD HAVE BEEN 10-0 IF THEY HAD NOT FUMBLED THE BALL AS THEY DID.HOLD ON TO THE FOOTBALL AND GO WIN NEWTON COUNTY SOME PLAY OFF GAMES.GOOD LUCK PIRATES AND I'LL BE THERE SATURDAY NIGHT IN LUFKIN CHEERING FOR YOU.

It's all in at this point, win or lose, not any sense in players that can help you sitting on the sidelines!
