Also my son almost got into it with one of the players that got up in a girls (sons friend) face for telling him to stop his trash talking and go home. I think he was the one that got cuffed a few min later. They (Dawson) are VERY cocky, and need to be knocked down a few pegs.

This would have been difficult as the Dawson players were in Galena Park playing against Foster.  Please do not spread gossip.  The Dawson team this year is much more disciplined then in the past.  You can try to make them out to be the bad guys all you want, but I think it is more wishful thinking then actual fact.  The team is much more disciplined and isn't giving up free yardage on penalties as in the past. If you get the yardage, you have to earn it this year.

That's good to hear because last year a few of the PD players showed Zero class, in our coaches face as they walked to half, that's just embarrassing, I don't care how talented you are.it takes away from the overall enjoyment, I hope this is a little more respectful game.

Watch some film from this year. There is plenty of footage from this past Friday. I don't think Dawson is as balanced this year, but the difference is in attitude and sportsmanship.  The team this year stays in the game until the end.  I have watched other teams try to start some scuffles this year without success. 

Do the kids talk smack, I'm sure they do.  I doubt it is any worse than I have seen on this particular board  ;D 

I've seen exaggerations of events that were just laughable.  I hope both teams play their best game Friday night. I can't wait.

Ok, so the way I "heard" it was a few of our players know some Angleton players.  They were leaning over talking to them telling them to win so that Dawson and Angleton could play against each other down the road.  They were there supporting Angleton.......  Some of the Angleton people started booing and yelling at them.  As kids will do, they got upset.  Someone complained and an officer asked them to leave.  They were escorted out.  Big Difference.  Also, did you ever stop to think that sometimes people are escorted out for their own safety?  Happens all the time especially in a crowd.  I'm not saying that is what happened, just saying not many probably know for sure.

As far as your son's friend, it sounds like she started that argument.  Was it her place to tell them to  leave?  If she had minded her own business and not started something, your son would not have been put in a potentially bad position.  But these are kids and they do stupid things.  Heck, adults do too.

My point is if you weren't there and didn't see it yourself, you can not say it is all fact.  Even if you were there and saw it all from a distance, you may have interpreted some things you saw, but don't know for sure.  You are getting a biased opinion from someone else.  Remember, there are always two sides to the story and the truth is somewhere in between.

My point in all of this is that I find it sad that adults will sit around bashing kids.  I could easily say that the poor Dawson kids went in there to support their friends at Angleton and all of the Angleton fans were bullies and were yelling, booing and telling them to leave.  That may have some basis of fact in it, but isn't the whole story. 

Let's get back to talking football- should be a great game!

I feel really lucky that I will get to catch this game, should define just who these teams are for real. Dawson has been a little shaky recently and Nederland had a tough win against a connaly team that was without their starting QB. I'm taking Nederland 20-17, they might have the best D in the state this year.

Playing at Reliant was exciting for the parents as well as the kids.  This was Dawson's first time.  I was surprised to see the tailgating in the parking lot - glad to see so many people having fun before the game.  It was fairly easy to get good seats although we did get there pretty early to make sure.  Of course, this is Reliant and there are lots of good seats. 

Of course, this guy could have whatever seat he wanted!

No sir. My line has been that Nederland is suspect due to close win over Vidor and less than impressive win over a very weak Dayton team.  You gain no power ranking points by beating Pflugerville or Dayton.

Thats because you approach everything with an apples vs apples perspective when you can't do that in football.  Football is about match-ups, game plans, and style.   

Nederland beat dayton 21-7, and Summer creek beat Dayton 45-7.  You conclusion is that Ned isn't as good as SC because of that score, however you discount how the two teams match up, what the key's of victory were for Ned, and the style of play (were they air it out, or ball control?).   

This is why you didn't see GT coming, and its why you have a distorted view of how good YOUR team was.

Hope I'm not interrupting, but yeah I would agree that it is about match ups as opposed to aggregate scoring. However, my argument in favor of SC as a better team than Nederland would be based on SC having a quality passing game that Nederland's D hasn't seen much this season, as well as Nederland running the type of offense that SC's D has a better grasp of defending. Georgetown overpowered SC with their passing game because SC doesn't defend the pass well in addition to Georgetown's D being able to handle a strong passing attack. It is going to be interesting to see what kind of game Dawson and Nederland bring next week. Unless one completely dominates the other at all phases of the game, I dont see the winner of this game making it passed the winner of Angleton/GTown.
