If Dawson is who I've heard they are, Nederland loses BIG.  I've heard some reports that Dawson isn't as great as their record suggest.
Was it you who said Nederland would lose BIG to Connaly?
No sir. My line has been that Nederland is suspect due to close win over Vidor and less than impressive win over a very weak Dayton team.  You gain no power ranking points by beating Pflugerville or Dayton.
Thats because you approach everything with an apples vs apples perspective when you can't do that in football.  Football is about match-ups, game plans, and style.

Nederland beat dayton 21-7, and Summer creek beat Dayton 45-7.  You conclusion is that Ned isn't as good as SC because of that score, however you discount how the two teams match up, what the key's of victory were for Ned, and the style of play (were they air it out, or ball control?).

This is why you didn't see GT coming, and its why you have a distorted view of how good YOUR team was.
Hope I'm not interrupting, but yeah I would agree that it is about match ups as opposed to aggregate scoring. However, my argument in favor of SC as a better team than Nederland would be based on SC having a quality passing game that Nederland's D hasn't seen much this season, as well as Nederland running the type of offense that SC's D has a better grasp of defending. Georgetown overpowered SC with their passing game because SC doesn't defend the pass well in addition to Georgetown's D being able to handle a strong passing attack. It is going to be interesting to see what kind of game Dawson and Nederland bring next week. Unless one completely dominates the other at all phases of the game, I dont see the winner of this game making it passed the winner of Angleton/GTown.
Nederland can take Angleton for sure. GTown would be a good game.

Didn't Angleton beat Nederland 39-33 early in the season? I didn't see the game so I'm not sure what exactly went down, but it should be no less of a challenge for nederland a second time around should it?

Yes we did lose, but when you have 4 turnovers the first quarter on your side of the field and still almost pull out a win 2 and a half hours away from your town in terrible weather. Plus Hopkins got hurt and Pryor (55) was out for a large portion of the game as well. I know we lost, and that game is over. But if we played again I would like Nederland's chances.

We had 5 turnovers in that game and came within a 2 point conversion of winning.
we had 2 pick sixes 2 more picks and fumble lost.
Nederland was the better team, just had a bad game.

Ok so Nederland was playing a bit too sloppy, that makes a lot more sense. In that case, if Nederland can limit turnovers and can capitalize on the turnovers Angleton would be likely to commit, then I would favor Nederland in that rematch. Plus, Angleton has something of a gimmick offense from my understanding, so having seen it twice should play into Nederland's hands.

I like Neds chances in a defensive low scoring game. After seeing Dawson I don't think Ned can win in a shootout high scoring game.Pulling for Ned to win,go Bulldogs-Defense #70 is your key to stop Dawson run attack 8)
Ok, so the way I "heard" it was a few of our players know some Angleton players. They were leaning over talking to them telling them to win so that Dawson and Angleton could play against each other down the road.  They were there supporting Angleton.
This is correct. I agree.
My point is if you weren't there and didn't see it yourself, you can not say it is all fact.  Even if you were there and saw it all from a distance, you may have interpreted some things you saw, but don't know for sure.
I WAS THERE. MY WIFE WAS THERE. MY 18 YR OLD SON WHO IS A SENIOR @ ANGLETON HS WAS THERE. MY 19 YR OLD DAUGHTER WAS THERE. My son and Daughter are CLOSE FRIENDS of T.J. Austin (QB) My wife and I are friends of T.J.'s mother Sharon, who was sitting right behind us. And the "confrontation" between the young man from Dawson and the girl took place less than 20 feet in front of all of us (except for T.J., obviously as he was on the field) on the walkway at the bottom of the stands.
As far as your son's friend, it sounds like she started that argument.  Was it her place to tell them to  leave?
Nobody but the two students in question know for sure who said what to whom first. Honestly, I don't care who started the argument, and I Don't care WHAT the girl said or did to him. There is NEVER EVER ANY acceptable reason for ANY man, young or not to bow up to a little teen-aged girl (or a grown woman) and act like he is about to strike her, which is what I and a few hundred other people SAW HAPPEN.
Some of the Angleton people started booing and yelling at them.  As kids will do, they got upset.  Someone complained and an officer asked them to leave.  They were escorted out.
The reason that people started to boo and tell them to go home was because everyone within 100 feet in all directions saw what I just mentioned above happen, and they didn't like it one bit. The only part that I HEARD about was the part about one player (maybe the same kid? I Don't know) being walked out by an officer with his hands cuffed behind his back. (for his own protection, I guess?) The rest I SAW MYSELF, and I KNOW exactly what happened there.

OK. Now that this has been (hopefully) cleared up, we can get back to discussing the game.

Can't see it being close. Nederland's lack of offense will be their downfall next week.

I'll go with NED, but they will have to keep it close or be ahead going into the 4th quarter.

It might be better if NED was ahead at the END of the 4th quarter. ;D 8)

What i would like to know if Nederland does pull this one out will all the doubters stop then ? SC, Barbers hill ,crosby and Dayton and a few others. Will Nederland be worthy then to beat # 1 ranked
Yes. I would definitely say Nederland is good IF y'all beat Dawson.....because playing Dayton after we beat them up, and PC are cake walk games IMO...

And I would be pulling for Ned if y'all would have been pulling for SC instead of a team not in area ::)
