KFDM COOP Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 WOS 4 Lumberton 0 Sparks 12 K's and gave up just 1 hit.
RaiderFan99 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Keko McGalin although taking the loss, pitched a brillant 2 hitter complete game against WO-S. Great Pitching duel. Unfortunately 3 errors cost the Raiders 4 runs. Great Game.
ESPN Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I've seen Lumberton once this season, there're not bad.
RaiderFan99 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 They are very young (I believe Coach Buffamonte starts 5 soph's and a freshmen) so they make some silly mistakes. However, they keep getting better every game. I don't know how good they are going to be this year, however the next few years should be a lot better. The J.V. team is 7-2 and their Freshmen team is 9-0.
Homer Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 There were not 3 errors in the game. The first run that was scored was on a slow roller down the third base line and the third baseman decided to let it go at the last minute to roll foul but it hit the bag. Maybe a mental error but counts as a hit in the book. There was also a bloop hit to left in the 1st and a line drive up the middle that drove in two later on. Also a ball deep in the hole between short and third that there was no way a play could be made. I'm not taking anything away from McGalin, he did pitch a heck of a game, but WOS had at least 4, maybe 5 hits and not all the runs were unearned. Lumberton did look a lot better than they did at the WO-S tournament!! Good luck this year.
RaiderFan99 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I just talked to the Coach. You are right the pitching line reads something like this Keko McGalin 6-IP 5-Hits 4-R 1-ER 3-K's 2-BB He told me even t hough it was a mental error (the play at 3B) it counts as a hit. Sorry for that. I just wanted to give some props to Lumberton because they have been down for so long, and I do see a future.
Homer Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Lumberton is doing better this year. I am not taking anything away from them, just taking up for the Mustangs because they are very young and only have 2 players returning from last year. Considering that they are doing better than people expected. They will be in a heck of a dog fight come district though!!
