YankeeDawg Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Myguess is that Georgetown didn't want a large venue because they know how well Nederland travels...plus with all the other Ned. supporters from other 20-4A schools...they tried to keep the crowd down.

Was there nothing available that could accommodate more fans...from both sides?

Have to remember, coaches wanted to play on turf not grass.
Brubaker Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Have a really hard time believing Neumann "had" to play on turf... I don't think he wanted to play anyone specifically on a faster track. Nasty ol mangled up grass would suit that Nederland team just fine. All the same, we will pack that place and get wild like last week. Dogs on a mission, gonna take a special effort to win keep them Dogs from their goal.
bhsfan Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Rice Stadium would have been nice or even Stallworth think it holds bout 17,000.who won toss?

3bsports Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 I Heard they didn't "toss" for the sight. They just " worked it out".
godawggo Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 I hear GTown wanted turf and did not want to play at Kyle Field. There are bound to be other places that were bigger!

Regardless, you still bring a nice crowd.NEDERLAND LOUD CROWD will be out in full force Saturday!!!!GO BULLDOGS!!!!!!

NHSBulldogFan Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 Im curious how was the crowd for Georgetown at the Magnolia West game?
phunter308 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 Nice crowd do they travel well? This game was 20 minutes down the road not 2 hours. Just asking we sold out today so that is 5000 tickets with a thousand at the gate for walk ins.
Bulldog8 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 I heard the stadium site we decided to help our marching band perform at the game. They are in UIL competition this Saturday and had to be close by to make. Not sure if it true, heard from a reliable source
Guest Hwf6259 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 Not sure that it was actually chosen to accommodate the band, but yes it is true that over half of the band has All-Region Saturday morning. Heard they will let our school perform first and as the kids finish they will load up a bus and try to get them to the game as fast as possible. They had to make an alternate halftime performance ( fight song ) in case the kids from All-Region do not make it by halftime.
dustoff03 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 why in the hell can't they wait for band comp. til after football is over? lets say january.
Guest Hwf6259 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 It's not " band camp" .... This isn't the kids fault. They want to be there just as much as the fans that support our football team, band and other groups do! Theses kids work hard all year and have no choice of when the TMEA sets the All-Region dates. Again don't take this out on these kids..... Not their fault.

Guest Hwf6259 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 I apologize, have heard some ugly comments this week regarding all this and hope the fans understand....Yes I agree, I don't believe they (TMEA) should set the dates in a month that playoffs could interfere. But they did unfortunately. The kids have been worried all week that the fans will not understand. They work hard all year to play for our fans, they want to be there for this game more than anything! On the other hand they can't skip it , they have worked hard all year for this and scholarships are in play for many of these seniors. I heard the school is doing everything they can to get them there as soon as possible! Their performance times have been moved to early in the morning and as they finish they will load up a bus, as one bus fills up it will leave for the game with another bus to follow as the others finish performing.

Guest Hwf6259 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 The ugly comments were from only a few and not on this forum......around town. I have heard some very supportive comments also and I feel the same way. We support all our groups in Black & Gold!Just thought that explaining that the school and these kids are doing everything they can to get there on time on this forum would spread the word and calm people down who are saying the band should "be doing this and not that" .... not knowing the whole story. It's not the school, band, or kids fault. It's the TMEA.... They made the dates and just hoped that fans will understand they are doing everything in their power to get there after their All-Region tryouts! It will all work out ok!This will be a great game! GO DOGS!!!!!
Gtj007 Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 I can assure you that the All-Region band tryouts had nothing to do with the time or location of this game. If it did, they could have played the game on Friday or later Saturday night.
