nice footage and good game , it was cool to see anthony byerly break that run off my man ran down hill , just too many penalties . ahh the days of caged facemasks and forearm and elbow pads . lol

I remember that game, we had Anthony Byerly. Also remember the pass we caught in the first half that was disallowed  should have been a touchdown but that was 30 years ago and a heck of a game.

It was hard to watch that again. First time I have ever seen any footage. It was a heart breaker that night. Still remember the feeling when it was announced over the PA that Cameron would advance on first downs. Come on Eagles. Put your foot on the gas!! :)

[/quote] were you on that team championship eagle ? whatever happened to byerly ? i heard he went to texas , did he have some sort of an injury ?

No, I'm older. I was in attendance. Byerly did go to Texas and had a knee injury. Played for Akers while there. I don't know a lot about what he has done since then. I occasionally hear things but would hate to start any false rumors. I do believe he is successful.

I'm glad that games go to overtime these days. I would much rather the game be decided by the score, not by stats.

That footage was tough to watch. Newton definitely had the momentum late, down 21-0 at one point, but I think that Yoe could have scored at the end had the coach let them.

Man what a matchup, two great programs with the history to go with it!!!

WOW, this is one game that still hurts 30 years later....I remember telling Anthony after halftime, we can't let it end this way....Thanks for sharing this footage.....

I've heard from second generation coaches from this games participants and they have broken it down play by play. Who says genetics don't count? lol I bet there was some talk of the scat as well.
