DogsDLine Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 We are losing a good amount across the board.Who do you think starts at these now open positions? How good will they be? Any player in particular who will make an impact like these graduating senors did?
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 the front line will still be great
dogbite Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 #60 Johnson earns a starting position at DE or LB and becomes a full time beast. Freshman Krautz could end up starting at cornerback. Mayfield should start somewhere probably linebacker. Barton could find a starting cornerback spot. All could be very dominant.
Razor Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 with Malveaux and Washington back, the front will already be very good...Johnson is likely to fill another spot and Holman logged some minutes this year as well...the LBs will be hard to replace, but Mayfield will likely fill one of those spots and perhaps Stewart the other...it will be very hard to replace Stampley and Wood...DB's lose Taylor, Shaw, and Barrow, all 3 all district picks, but return Kimler, who will again be a force...plenty of candidates to fill those positions but I suspect it will be very competive...Seay is also back at the hybrid S/LB posiition.overall, Nederland will have a very solid defense again next season
ram0524 Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 This is what im hearing from some players.DL: Malveaux, Washington, Holman, JohnsonLB: Mayfield, StewartDB: Kimler, Seay, Tinsley, Krautz, and Broussard/Bordelon.
Razor Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 I would not doubt that but alot of offseason competition still ahead

mytwocents-28 Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 Call me crazy but I just don't see them replacing the likes of Brock and Colby on the dline or wood, stampley, Taylor, shaw, and barrow. Now I'm not saying that the defense will be Swiss cheese but I am saying they will not be as dominant as they were the past two years.
Jackthehammer Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 I dont think they will be as good as 2012 but they still beat Vidor

And are you sure you offense is gonna be better with losing your qb, who has started for two and a half years and your best receiver?
Razor Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 I think Nederland's running game will be even stronger next season...Hopkins will be a year stronger and you return the entire interior line of Brown (1st team all district), Brinkley (2nd team), and Albritton plus Henry who gained some experience at the end of the season...add to that the fact that another 2nd team AD pick in Dial returns at FB and I can see Nederland using some ground and pound...Neumann and company are great at utilizes the talent they have and I really believe the strength of the team will lie in their running game next season...Hopkins may have a really HUGE season

White has all the arm we need to suceed. Kimler returning and some quality JV guys at reciever. 4 lineman returning, 2 fullbacks, hopkins, 3 te's, then possibly throw Seay in at qb on some formations and we will handle y'all this and next year.

dogbite Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 No need to pinpoint vidor, everyone in district will have a tough time with Nederland again. That running game with everyone returning from nearly a 2000 yard campaign will give a new QB time to learn and mature without very much pressure. That very same good running game will also be very helpful to the defense, which may or may not need any time before they dominate.

Knoddy1 Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 During Neumanns early years here we had some great teams and especially during the Troy Sumrall years I thought after he was gone we would just become a once in a while good team, boy was I wrong because we just keep on truck'n. Looking at the quality of guys we are loosing to graduation seems like a tall order to replace but I think we will all be pleasantly surprised when we see some of those puppys take the field next year as full grown bulldogs. (hate wishing my life away, but I can'nt wait.
