Nederland didn't shoot well last night, but still manged the easy win...room for improvement to be certain...Nederland had to have had a big advantage on the boards as well...Weisbrod was just too much for vidor to handle down low...they don't have anyone on the roster that can match up with a good big...

Thanks for the responses, it's a shame. Have not had a chance to see the Pirates play in the past few years. Hoping for the best.

Vidor is on the right track.... They have a good head coach in Larry Sterling, and I think it will take 3 or 4 years but he will get the program going.IMO....Larry is the right guy for the job. He just came in at a bad time with the youth of central, ozen, LCM and Nederland. Although Nederland is senior loaded this year but Nederland has some real good underclassman coming up.

I think the problems go much deeper than the coach.  Sterling is a good coach but is young and learning to do things as head coach at the varsity level.  The biggest problem is a total lack of off season work.  Kids dont get better during the season, they get better during the off season.  Until the basketball program works as hard as the football and baseball players in the off season, you will see the same results as what we are seeing now.  Nothing takes the place of hard work.  Nothing.

Its no secret why Vidor started dropping off and Nederland quickly rose.. Can't say enough about what Brian has done.. Not just at the varsity level, but getting the younger kids involved with basketball
