Went to this game and the refs were horrible! Central played 5 against 8 all night.
seriously? ??? The foul count was about even for the game. Oops, actually Ned had 3 more fouls than Central including a player with 2 clean blocks who fouled out. ::)
The refs were consistent, what more do you want? Central was clearly the better team tonight, learn to WIN with class. ::)
Really class? How about teaching number 1 to play with and have some class about himself. Oh and it was real classy going get the police to make black people give up their seats for no apparent reason. The game was only as close as it was because of the officiating. Central is the better team period, not just tonight!
come on sir/madam. The race card, seriously? There was a sign about seating, and like Central, we have rules. Actually, we adopted our rules from BISD, Central HS to be exact. Ozen does not implement this rule. If you think about it, it is not wise to allow opposing team's fans to sit amongst each other. If you attend a high school football game, MOST stadiums will not allow one to go to the stands of the opposing team.

How exactly did #1 show to be classless? Did he not shake hands? FYI-#1 plays summer ball with about 1/2 of Central's team. They are actually good friends off the court. BTW-#1's dad mingled and talked amongst Jag fans for 20
minutes after the game ended. Probably bc he knows them personally from playing AAU ball.

Is it not classless to call two of our kids 'white boys' when they clearly are not?

It seems that MOST fans got along rather well throughout the game. I didn't see any issues whatsoever. Sorry that our administrators and police enforced policies that are in place for the safety of ALL involved.

I can explain this situation that I've never seen before, Abe.  I arrived at the game in the 4th quarter of the JV game.  When the JV game ended, there was an announcement prior to the varsity team introductions.'there are NO Central fans allowed to sit on the Nederland side (behind their bench).  Please sit behind centrals bench, Central fans.  Nederland fans sit on Nederland's side'.  He announced this at least 5 times and then got the police involved to try to make Central fans move.

This is a first to me.  In ANY gym, including the dog dome, teams were always allowed to sit wherever they please.  Now, if that section was reserved for a specific group of spectators (parents, elderly, subvarsity players, cheerleaders, ect.),  then it should have been roped off.  ...and from what I heard, the Ozen fans, when they were there WASN'T harassed like that.  Completely unacceptable.  I was a fan that was in that section, and I wasn't worried.  If I were ever asked to move, I would have politely ignored them and continued watching the game.  Also, Abe, the is NO such rule in place at Central where opposing fans are forced to  move. There is a section reserved for students a Central that's roped off even before the freshmen  games begin, but it's NOT behind either teams bench and no fan is ever asked to move.  Not sure where you got that info from, Abe.

Now, #1 for Nederland?  I think Yeoj was talking about the action after his first score.  He ran toward the Central bench heckling them and ran by coach Lee, Central's HC, and said something to his face.  That upset the Central coaching staff and bench but nothing was done about it.  Another incident was when he threw a few elbows at Central's Mitchell.  Ref saw that one but swallowed his whistle.  There continued to be extra pushing and jousting between these two and again., nothing was called...

This is what I have to say about this game...plain and simple.  Nederland only has 2 players that are aggressive on offense.  out of those two, one of them goes through the 'passive' stretch of the game.  Nederland needs at least a third aggressive scoring option to beat us at the  next district meeting.  Also, Nederland needs to add some size.  Weisebrod was called to hold Wileridge (I assume he's Nederland's  tallest player) which didn't work.  Toe-Toe did what he wanted and when he wanted in the paint.  Also, had Nederland would have made those open looks, it would have helped them.

Central should have stayed in the full court press and the score probably would have gotten out of hand.  They allowed Nederland to slow the game down, and that's what got them  back into it.  This second meeting will be interesting to say the least.

Ned Fresh up 57-18 after 3 Qs. They won by 20 or so. Don't remember score. 5 on 5 may know.

67-47 was the final in the freshman game. Ned was up by nearly 40 at one point. The second group played in the fourth quarter.

I wouldn't get too excited! Central has two freshmen on varsity and at least three other freshmen on JV.

I've seen the Central Freshmen on varisty and JV-  Nederland has a right to be excited

Soulja summed it up pretty well, I'm surprised there wasn't some form of retaliation for the bench taunting, that showed a lot of class on Central's part.  I had no idea Central's 24 is a soph, he's got skills.

[]Here is my take on the seating issue. I have been sitting behind the Ned bench. Before the Ozen varsity game we left to grab something to eat before varsity. When we returned Ozen fans were not only sitting in this reserved section, they were sitting in our friends "stadium seats". We were willing to sit elsewhere but they wouldn't get out of the "stadium seats". Talk about classless. Police had to intervene to force them to return our friends "stadium seats". Are you kidding me. Then throughout the game an obnoxious Ozen fan sitting very close to coach English kept attacking him personally constantly. That section has always been for player families and needs to remain as such. I agree with the enforcement of this policy. There was plenty of seating upstairs for those sitting in the wrong section.

To the reply to the "any gym" comment. Not in Silsbee. There is a visitor side and a home side. You are not allowed to sit "anywhere you want" in the Tiger Den. Most gyms I have been to are set up in this manner, visitor and home side or sections.
I don't know about the Ozen fans, but the Central fans were in those seats while the JV game was going  on.  No one got up.  there were Nederland fans there.  There were no problems.  After the JV  games were finished the announcement was made.  At that point is when the  Jag faithful  got enraged.  It was truly uncalled for.  If You didn't want anyone to sit there,  rope that area off prior to the beginning of the freshmen game.

I 100% agree with your last statement. Sides and sections need to be determined before the doors are open.
Why is that?  The problem didn't start until that obnoxious Nederland guy started Making the announcement over and over again and went and got a police officer.  Nederland and Central fans were  getting along before that.

There was a HUGE sign on the railing between the court level and upper level. If people would read the HUGE banner indicating where home and visitors were to sit a rope fence and armed guards would not be needed. READ THE SIGNS AND FIND YOUR SEAT ACCORDINGLY. What was so hard to understand about the HUGE banner?

The Ned administrators had someone (prolly cheerleaders) make a huge sign over the stands which clearly read: HOME with an arrow pointing towards the Ned bench and VISITORS with an arrow pointing towards Central's bench. The sign was on a paper that was approximately 5 feet high by 20 foot wide. It was impossible to not see.

The information I mentioned about Central rules is an experience myself and other Ned fans experienced last year and the two years before that. We had a group of fans escorted from the Central side to the Nederland side last year bc of BISD rules, and nobody was offended.

Oh yes they do. I have seen law enforcement move fans to their proper sections in many gyms.

Speaking of elbows Soulja, it goes BOTH ways. There were many times while we were trying to run our offense that elbows were thrown in the chests of our kids so they could not run around a pick or were being physically held so they could not get open. Did any Ned fans come on this board complaining about it? No. It's a part of the game.

If somebody reads this thread and didn't know the score, they would probably think Nederland won this game. The refs were from the College Station chapter, so no 'home cooking' took place. The foul count for the game was Ned 14 Central 12.
Law enforcement is called in when there is a problem like fighting or altercations.  There was a absolutely NO problems with the seating during the freshmen and JV games.  Then, security was called in.  IMO, there wasn't the need for that.  Fans just wanted to see their teams play.  A Little too excessive.
