Honest Abe
I agree. Shooting 32% from the field will not win many games against a team like Central. As the paper mentioned, we had open looks, we just were not making our shots. Plenty of opportunities. Then when we got within 2 points, we threw the ball away in 2 straight possessions and 3 of 4 while the Jags converted on the other end. Speaking of an effective full court press, please press next game, we will win that game. We turned it over against the Jag press twice while we had 2 of our starting guards out of the game. When they came back in, we broke it every time.

understand
CENTRAL WON AND WILL WIN THE NEXT THREE YEARS AND MAYBE THE NEXT SIX YEARS and that seating PROBLEM was from the sixties, and what you're not advising everyone is that it started because of coach english dad.The seating PROBLEM started with coach english dad seat being taken by an Ozen student an the student refuse to move when asked to and that student did not take his stadium seat he moved it over maybe 1-2 ft but coach english dad wanted to sit behind his son bench and i guess he and you guys showed everyone this week that you can go back in time if needed, but on this DAY and TOMORROW CENTRAL WON.Oh and PLEASE sit where you want when you come to 88 JAG it will not change the outcome of the game. Heck, I don't recall there being such an announcement in Nederland as well. The speed limit comparison is lame. You Have to follow the law. It's a must. At a high school game, you're not FORCED to sit somewhere or where NOT to sit. Heck using that comparison brings Rosa Parks to mind...
Yeoj
The entire seating area across the from the scoring table was ninety eight percent Nederland fans. And you want to cut the side behind the scoring table in half. My question is, does NISD expect the entire Central basketball fan base to sit in that little fourth of gym space? And are they really going to use the Nederland police to enforce that ridiculousness?

CThoops
Wow.. This thread is unbelievable...Why is race is being brought out? The seating issue shouldn't be an issue at all. I can see both sides to this arguement, but there shouldn't be a problem though if the staff can identify the sign at the doors that says which side the visitors sit on, and which the home sits on. It also shouldn't be a big deal if they ask people to move for that reason. I like to sit wherever I want as well especially in the Nederland gym, but if special rules where made for this game, anticipating a large crowd, then that's how the seating will take place. As far as the actual reason everyone showed up, like maybe the game, Central is very good and them winning isn't too much of shock, but most people can tell you that Nederland can play with these guys. A few shots here and there and this could have gone a different way. Some players for Nederland need to really be more aggressive on offense to help out. All in all, it's not the end of the world for Nederland. The Beaumont school made their statement that they are tired of Nederland and wanted to win these key games. How Nederland responds is going to be big and deciding if they want to win district again. As far as the big body situation, it would sure be a luxury to have other players with some size, but that simply isn't the case this year. You only work with what you are given, so Weisbrod is called on to have a huge role of post defense, then carry the team offensively. Lets get ready for the rematches and take care of business. Go dogs!
Honest Abe
Rosa Parks, seriously? Come on man! U ignored AAW's comment about seating that he has seen in most gyms. We enforce this same rule when PNG comes to town. Why do so many people want to go to the rave card so quickly and repeatedly? When Nederland played Central this year in football, which searing section did you sit in? When you go to a Rockets game with a seat number, do you tell them you can sit where you want to sit? Ironically, every time I have ever observed a seating controversy at a sporting event, the police/security are involved. Rules are rules, just follow them. I know, I know, it's much easier to just play the race card. ::)

Honest Abe
For the record, there is 1/8 of the gym that is reserved for the Ned fans, 1/8th reserved for the visiting fans. The remaining 6/8 (or 3/4) is open seating for all. Does that seem like extreme rules for anyone to follow? Does that sound racists or discriminatory to anyone? Did we force our non-white fans to sit in the Central section? Think about it!
Honest Abe
BTW-I watched a Nederland fan get kicked out of a gym two years ago in the Barber's Hill tourney for questioning a call made by a ref. i will mention (only to make my point) that the ref was black. Funny, bc not ONE single Ned fan suggested that he was removed from his seat bc of race. Guess who escorted him out? Police!! Was it necessary in that situation? I don't think so bc the fan left without an incident, but the policies set forth in that gym insisted on security in order to implement that policy. Again, why is it so difficult to respect the rules set forth by Nederland admin? ???

AggiesAreWe
An example of how some gyms are set up for visitor and home fans. Last night at WO-S, they have four sections of bleachers (1 section behind the WO-S bench, 1 behind the visitor bench, other two sections are directly across the floor from the aforementioned sections). The home fans (WO-S) get 3 of those sections. (behind home bench, and both sections across the floor). Visitors get the section behind the visiting team bench. That's it. Silsbee fans were regulated to sit in that section and that section only. Those are the rules of that gym. Is it fair? That's debatable but it is still the rules of that particular gym.Every gym I have been to have designated seating areas for home and visitors. There are usually signs directing the fans. If not, then law enforcement directs or school admins direct. Pretty simple to me.Based on my age and what I do, I think I have seen my share of gyms in my lifetime, more than most on this site. ;)
