bobbymcgee Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/hs/article/Nearly-30-have-applied-for-Central-football-job-4237165.php#photo-4111762Some impressive coaches on this list. Hope they consider Kevin Goodwin who has done a great job at Center. Don't know much about the Graham guy but seems like he might be good and is a Central grad. I'd say finalists should be: Marcus Graham, Kevin Goodwin, Daryl Hobbs, Keeath Magee, Sedberry Jr plus I'm sure James Brown will get a courtesy interview spot along with BISD coaches Scott and Meteyor.
CoachTater Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 I say Brent Walters - 2nd from the bottom.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 hmmmm i know some of those names on there. pretty good list.
desethion Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 I think that all the bisd coaches should get a shot at the job. I know the ozen coach, Scott, Cox and Dotson. I think only two them can Help central and I think Dotson is one of the two. Hope central gets the right man for the job

ice74 Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 It's a good opportunity to get the right coach, for the right reasons. They shouldn't limit the list of finalist to local guys, find the right fit for the program. For the kid's sake, I hope they choose the best one, whoever that is :)

PlayActionPass Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 I really think JB is the way to go on this one. He will be able to motivate and reach these kids on a level that nobody else on that list can.
DP70 Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 Brent Walters all the way. No doubt about it.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 he could drive them to the games ;D
Alpha Wolf Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 None of the 5 current BISD employees that applied excite me. But...James Brown...just feel he'd be a good fit.Jonathan Cooper...comes from a winning program.Kevin Goodwin...took nothing and made it into something.Marcus Graham...Central ties.Tim Green...comes from a winning program. That would be the 5 I'd interview.

I don't even know if James Brown is a certified teacher. He has just coached at private schools and college.
Go-rilla Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 With all due respect to you Johnathon Cooper has more State Championship rings than he has fingers. I jock no-one, but when Coop coaches talent he wins.

Tim Green has been at WOS for one semester as a position coach. James Brown was a great football player, but is not even a certified teacher in the state of Texas. You might want to do some research on why Cooper is only a freshman football coach. Just my opinion, but Goodwin and Graham are the cream of the crop on this list.
ozensfinest Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 I say either James Brown, or Kirby Jones...(Coach Jones is a great coach produced alot of great players)... BISD should try going out of the area to hire a coach though idk why they never hire out the area
bobbymcgee Posted February 1, 2013 Author Report Posted February 1, 2013 Magee would also be good as he has a lot of experience and was a proven winner at Westbury and Willowridge.
PlayActionPass Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 JB is the cream of the crop on this list. What Central needs is someone that can inspire the kids to work and compete. JB will hire the right X & O coaches to take advantage of the abundance of talent. The HC needs to be someone that can motivate and get the kids to play. JB has the experience and accomplishments to get the kids attention. He knows what it takes to be successful and will have immediate respect from the players. If he shows confidence in his coaches, the kids will follow them. Its a simple equation.

bobbymcgee Posted February 2, 2013 Author Report Posted February 2, 2013 The AD has gone outside before- Stowers was an outside BISD hire, Stump was an outside BISD hire as was Flanigan. I don't remember where Ish Rison at Ozen came from but I don't think he had strong ties to BISD.

BMTSoulja1 Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 I believe about 7 starters back on both sides. We'll have G. Mitchell back at safety on defense and RB's Thomas-Garret (jr. Next year) and Darby (Sr.) Next year.
badndn Posted February 2, 2013 Report Posted February 2, 2013 Big question for Central is who is under Center. They also had a jitterbug from the Freshman team that I would expect to see some time on Varsity in some capacity.
