AggiesAreWe Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 There are several key games being played tonight that are of great importance in some of our district races. Here are eight games of interest:21-5ANorth Shore ( 8-1 ) at Beaumont West Brook ( 7-2 )North Shore still holds the top spot in 21-5A but their loss to PA Memorial now allows West Brook a chance to claim a part of 1st place if the Bruins can take down Da Shore Tuesday night in Bruin Gym. North Shore defeated West Brook the first time around, 60-35.20-4ANederland ( 9-2 ) at Beaumont Ozen ( 10-1 )Nederland still has a chance of getting a piece of the district championship but they must beat Ozen Tuesday night on the road otherwise they will find themselves finishing in 3rd and having to play Crosby or Humble in first round. Ozen with a win all but clinches at least a share of the district title with very winnable games left against PN-G and Lumberton. Ozen defeated Nederland in the Dog Dome in first half of district, 66-59.24-4AGoose Creek Memorial ( 4-6 ) at Galveston Ball ( 5-5 )This game is basically for that 4th and final playoff spot (even though both teams still have 3 district games remaining). A win by GCM would tie them with Ball but GCM would have the tie breaker because of their season sweep of the Tors. Galveston Ball with a wins would all but assure them the final playoff spot by giving them a two game lead over the Patriots with 3 games remaining. GCM defeated Ball in the first game, 71-63.22-3ASplendora ( 6-3 ) at Huffman-Hargrave ( 5-5 )A win by Splendora would put them 1 win away from clinching the runner up spot in 22-3A. Huffman has won 3 straight which has put them back into the race for a playoff spot and a win Tuesday night would allow them to keep pace with Coldspring and Liberty for that 3rd place spot. A loss would just about end their season. Splendora won the first game 65-55.20-2AKirbyville ( 7-4 ) at Woodville ( 7-4 )Basically, this game is for that last playoff spot in 20-2A. The loss by Kirbyville to Corrigan-Camden last Friday night took away the Wildcats slim advantage over Woodville. Had they won that game they still could afford to lose to Woodville Tuesday night and still remain in a tie for the last spot. Now Kville needs the win over Woodville. Woodville on the other hand with a win can put themselves in a situation where they would control their own destiny for that final playoff spot. Kirbyville won the first match up at home 36-32.25-2AHardin ( 6-5 ) at Anahuac ( 6-5 )This is a must win for Hardin for them to stay in the district playoff race. With Hardin still having to play district leader East Chambers, a loss Tuesday night to Anahuac would all but eliminate them from the playoffs. Anahuac with a win would keep them tied with YES Prep Southwest for that final playoff spot. Those two split their district games. Anahuac defeated Hardin in first half of district, 79-71.23-1A DIBroaddus ( 5-2 ) at West Sabine ( 6-1 )If West Sabine wants any chance of getting a piece of the district title, they will have to hold court at home and defeat Broaddus. Both these teams have clinched playoff spots but now it's about the seeding. West Sabine defeated Broaddus earlier, 65-58, at Broaddus.24-1A DIHull-Daisetta ( 3-4 ) at West Hardin ( 3-4 )Hull-Daisetta kept themselves in the playoff race with a big win over Evadale last Friday. With Evadale playing Big Sandy Tuesday night, a win by HD over WH would give them a 1 game lead over Evadale and West Hardin with 2 games remaining. Same would go for the Oilers. Hull-Daisetta beat West Hardin 73-59 at home.
