Nederland @ Central 2/12/2013 predictions

Give English a couple of these athletes..... I'll let the Dogs fans tell you guys how he would do. Thanks for the forum to freely agree to disagree.

Weisbrod does leave it all on the court, and I have seen him dominate kids who have superior talent over the last two years. Heart is something you can't coach. Hopefully he (and the team) can slow Wileridge or get him into foul trouble. It will take great team defensive effort to slow him down. Sometimes, however, it takes more than just effort and heart to stop a kid like Wileridge. ;)

The other was originally recruited by a prep school but decided  not to attend.  The Central soph. players I was referencing had verbally said they were attending Ozen and changed their minds that summer before entering as Frosh. ;)

Beaumont is a district of choice, so until school starts those freshmen are free to chose where they want to go.  And what is the difference in being recruited by a prep school and deciding not to attend, and being recruited by Ozen and deciding not to attend?
[/quote]That's easy: one is a private school, one is a public school. Prep schools are allowed to recruit bc they are privately funded. Public schools should not have that option.

[/quote] Wileridge was huge in the last game.  He's more a defensive presence, so if he's doing that on offense, it's a plus.  But we also have Mitchell and our leading scorer and freshman, Pearson that can catch fire at anytime.  This game will be interesting to say the least...

Arthur have attended NISD for 30+ years. ::) The kids who were on that team attended Ned schools most of their lives. The two kids who started attending Ned in the 9th grade transferred from PNG, and they didn't have a lick of basketball skills until their Jr or Sr seasons. I guess you also assume the same about Jamiere Rogers?

Hey, when you get the right combination of talented players and the coach that everyone loves, you could have a championship caliber team, yet you mention PA players on our team, when our district lines jut across Hwy. 365.

Unfortunately, about 1/2 of all meaningful threads on the Bball forum turn into a discussions about recruiting.

In order to win Tuesday, Dawgs must slow Wileridge, limit TOs, and control the boards better. We can't get down by double digits again and have to play catch up all game. We got as close as two points last game with about 2 min remaining, then TOs killed us in the end.

Forgive me for getting in on the recruiting topic late, but i must say when all was good in Beaumont (winning district titles between Central & Ozen) no complaints, but now other schools are developing programs, i hear recruiting statements. Guys, kids have been shuffling through different schools for years either by the parents, Coaches, friends etc. Dont quite know how that works these days, but back at the Bee Hive, we could care less if a player left because we had plenty of guys to fill in. I guess being perennial State Champs keeps the poachers at bay LOL
I guess i'm trying to say let's quit crying and play ball. You guys sound like that no good Lane Kiffin who does things, but when others do it to him he cries foul.  I'll say again, Nederland has no business competing with the likes of Central & Ozen every year, but Kudos to those kids for showing how fundamentals are forever, being athletic is temporary.  Oh and by the way, where were all of the Panther fans on Senior night?? Central, I was @ senior night when Gully played and it was awful also. I see Nederland fans.  Let's show support to the kids whatever the teams records are.
