Bud Kilmer Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 What is the standard that most teens are taking these days? And what is banned by the UIL? I am unsure of creatine, is it legal? Just curious what others are taking if anything.
bigocat Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Go to Parkdale Mall. There is a supplement store there. They can tell you whats the most used supplements by area players.

coachdaddy Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Vitamin Shop on the corner of Dowlen and IH10 beside Wendy's, in the Best Buy parking lot. Talk to Bryan, he knows his stuff.
Bud Kilmer Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 Yeah are most taking whey protein and creatine? Again I couldnt really find any detail on the UIL site about creatine being legal or illegal. I am pretty sure it is banned in the NCAA but not sure about UIL.
Numberoneonly Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Do some research on Advocare products, and look at college and pro participation.
1KatKiller Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 You can go to NCAA.ORG, click Health & Safety, then scroll down & you'll find the NCAA Banned Substances List. The NFL pretty much rubber stamps this list. Hope that helps.
1KatKiller Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Creatine is NOT banned at either the high school or college level. It is Illegal for the coach to provide it to the athlete, but the athlete is certainly free to purchase it on their own & use it.
1KatKiller Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Kids and unfortunately their parents are GENERALLY not educated about supplements. Many times the kids ( parents $$) wind up buying items that they don't need and spend in excess...these supplements aren't cheap. If the athlete would just follow a sound meal plan, it would eliminate the need for the costly supplements.
jkbtjc53 Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Creatine and Muscle Milk are the best thing for high school kids to take at this stae of the game until they get into college. With the Muscle Milk you cant just take one a day and expect to see amazing results. If your going to take it then take it like colleges have kids take it. Drink one in the morning as part of your breakfast, drink one after the kid gets done working out to help fuel his muscles and drink one before bed to help with weight gaining during the night.

They are both doing good now but a good diet is the key. The problem with most shakes is they can't eat full meals because of the quantity of the shakes they were drinking. We found a high protein shake through Zija that isn't near as filling and they still eat full healthy meals and we are seeing good results. But, it ain't cheap.
