vhs Posted April 22, 2013 Author Report Posted April 22, 2013 I've been learning that the hard way...lol

bullets13 Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 we had to work for them, but had 9 over 20 inches and also threw back 4 or 5 keeper redfish.
vhs Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 Taking my nephew and his girlfriend fishing Saturday and hoping to put them on some trout and/ or reds. Any suggestions on where we should go? I've fished the last few Saturdays along the Louisiana shoreline and haven't had much luck, but I keep reading about all the fish they are catching over there...I'm not doing something right.
westend1 Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 I went this afternoon and spent time running from rain, but when we fished, it was pretty slow except for the flounder on the shoreline. Tons of bait in the water from Blue Buck and up further north, but not many trout. Gonna be really tough after the front comes through. Think I would go after flounder.
I saw some pictures from a friend who guides on Sabine Lake and he has been running that area. He said that there have been quite a few wade fishermen killing the large trout there lately but the conditions needed to be right. With these last two days of winds and cold front blowing through, it probably won't be a good time to try. I should pick up soon though.
bullets13 Posted May 15, 2013 Report Posted May 15, 2013 got out for a couple of hours last night. would've been much better, but right when we got in a big school of fish we had to go pick our buddy up at the ramp, and when we came back they'd scattered out.

westend1 Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 There are plenty of trout at the jetties right now. Only problem is you almost have to have live shrimp to catch them. Just not biting plastics very well.

vhs Posted June 30, 2013 Author Report Posted June 30, 2013 Hitting the surf in the A.M....cant' wait
mat Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Good luck with the weed and hardheads. I gave it a try a week ago and caught one small red and a small shark.
vhs Posted July 15, 2013 Author Report Posted July 15, 2013 I can never figure out how to post pics on here, but I have a few decent reports from recent trips. The trout bite has been pretty decent on the North end of the lake in the shallows just east of the ship channel. We've also caught some nice reds down around Bessie Heights. I'm definitely enjoying the fishing, but I will enjoy it a lot more when the fall rolls around and it cools off a little... pretty tough to hide from the sun lately...lol
tvc184 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 My 10 fish from Wednesday night off of some docks. The largest was 19" with most being in the 16"-17" range.
rykerx144 Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Went out yesterday evening and caught a few to put in the cooler. Should have stayed in the channels had no luck in the lake. Lake is hot and seems pretty slow. Had better luck on live, couldnt get anything artifical to bite.
