Just looked at google maps and its 77 miles from Yates to Livingston.  73 miles from Silsbee to Livingston.  Problem solved!!

As far as the venue goes.  Atascocita holds 2000.  By halftime I would say that it was  at about 1800 or a little more.

Wow, not even their new gym?  Their JH gym use to host a lot of games but they have built a new HS that has a nice gym.

There are better schools in the nation for athletics, and we all know there are better high schools in the nation for an education. So why would someone come into the country and pick Jack Yates.?

Perhaps you didn't know this so I will tell you...Yates has one of the TOP schools of communications programs in TEXAS..They work closely with the University of Houston's communication department, AND they serve as the training ground for most of the area media outlets...Shocking, isn't it? ::) ::)...That could be ONE reason... 8)

That's right, all the local and national affiliates are loaded with Communications Majors that got there start at Yates.  I think one was just on the Weather Channel predicting a lightning strike in your vacinity Dick.

An amazingly odd number of guys 6'7" who want to be communications majors!!!!!!!  I remember yesterday in one of these threads someone making the remark that he had spoken with someone "in the know" at Yates and 6 players from the team grew up in the school district.

The communication on display during and after the game last night by the Yates guys was outstanding.  The vocabulary, just incredible!  The Reverend Yates would have been so proud.

No matter where you are. If you build a program up,even if it is started out by recruiting, and your winning every year, you wont have to recruit anymore because kids are going to want to join a winning program. If a kid move in and wants to go where the best basketball is played most likely they will direct them to Yates, because they are known for winning and gaining exposure.
