skipmeister Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 If Lamar wants to go FBS, then they need to toughen their schedule and that means drop the NAIA and NCAA Division II schools and add tougher schools! Liberty University, which is one of the largest evangelical Christian universities on Earth is on verge of going FBS (could be Lamar's neighbor in Sun Belt) and they have FBS opponents on their schedule almost every year and they are very tough! Why don't Lamar have a tough schedule like them? Fans are not going to spend their hard earned money on tickets so they could watch like Langston, McMurry, or other Division II schools! Fans want game with tougher opponents like UTSA, Youngstown State, Delaware, and the like! Like said, Lamar needs to strengthen their schedule if they want to go FBS!
badndn Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Liberty played DII Concord University last year. So not sure what your point is. Also gotta be able to entice DI schools to want to come to Beaumont, Texas (voted saddest city in America recently). ;D

But bringing like Purdue, Idaho, Washington State, and UTEP would be a great thing for both schools! It is a great recruiting tool since high school football is a hotbed for talent here!

The researchers even admitted that the words they used for the ratings were void of context. If you look at the top cities and bottom cities you'll see that demographics were a big factor.

Stop playing Oklahoma Panhandle St. and Bacone College! If you still have to play those type schools to get wins, that ought to tell you were your program is. You don't need to stack it with it FBS schools but get rid of the D2 and D3 schools and play some good teams at the FCS level. A better home non-conference schedule and some WINS will add to better attendance. That and going back at a 6:00 start time for home games.
