catfever
The two state champs is for football only and it has been that way for a number of years. The difference comes with the big school/small school districts for 3A. Normally you go big school small school once you get in the playoffs. Now schools with similar enrollment a will be in a district together. Once again, these new districts are for football only. Basketball and baseball districts will not be based on enrollment. Now 4 teams in the playoffs will effect basketball and baseball next year.

Honest Abe
Trust me, I'm the last guy who wants to give everyone a blue ribbon. I think 4 is too many. When I was in school, only 2 went. Back then, WOS won district/state in FB nearly every year and Lincoln did the same in Bball. That meant only one other district teams plays in post season. There was always at least one good team left out. I support 3 teams advancing.

BH85
It also reduces the number of tournaments to 2 which will cause some hits to many of the local tournaments.
86hawk
just waters down the importance of district play. "back in the day" 2 teams advanced from district. You also had 1 State Champion per classification. Are schools not going to hang banners in the gym "4th place district 21-3a 2016"? buy that patch for my lettermans jacket.
