He is a future communication major, just like the 7'4 boy from another country.
No doubt about it.  When he starts his "career" there, a few on this board will claim he is "home grown"
heard about this kid months ago. Trust me HE WILL NOT be at ANYTHING dealing with Yates unless he is playing against them.  :-X

Now the 7'4 kid, thats a whole other issue. Id be shocked if he doesnt get into that communications program and suits up for bball on the side while he's there.  ;)

You are right.  And there are others who skirt around the rules in order to be victorious.

UIL says the kids are legal.

Yep-  Ever hear of something that is technically legal but violates "the spirit/intent" of the law?

it is what it is.  Do we even know if the 7'4 kid can play ball?  When i was in school, we had a kid that was 7'0 and we got him out on the floor our senior year.  Poor kid couldn't walk and chew gum.  Great guy, just no skill at all.  Wanted to be a chef.  I guess we need to work on our 3 pt shooting skills.
Obviously the trek made by you and your cronies to Austin to visit your UIL contacts didn't get anything accomplished prior to the HJ/JY  game. ;)
"If you build they will follow." I repeat, Yates does not need to recruit. Those kids want to attend the school.

Say it however you wish.  They acquire their players in a manner that is different from everyone with which they compete.  Playing field obviously not level.  No words or rationale will change that.  I believe the original intent behind high school competition was based upon where one lived as opposed to where one wanted to play.

At least to a degree I can understand what Bluedove3 and DV have said.  Success does the recruiting.  Even both HJ and yes Silsbee have benefitted from this as well.  However it isn't near to the level of these schools in larger cities.  And definitely not to the level of  international move ins.  These schools in large cities can get multiple transfers because they don't necessarily have to move.  Our local schools have very few opportunities like that.  Maybe a case or two where one lives on a boundary line.  The only way to really make it fair wont happen because it wouldn't be fair to the schools that aren't successful enough to reap the rewards.  That solution would be placing all the big city schools in a class by themselves(highly unfeasible) or place them in the largest classification.  I know neither will happen for many reasons but not sure of any good solution.

Hey Dove...do you know where the Houston Defenders (Elite AAU) practice?  Do you know who watches almost every single practice?  Do you know who tries to recruit the players who practice there?

I do for a fact because I have had parents of players on the Defenders tell me he does!  Lets quit acting like it doesn't happen.  As far as "UIL passing everything", UIL only gets involved after the DEC.  And Yates' DEC is all HISD.  More recognition that comes to HISD the better, so they will overlook a lot of stuff.

***Nothing I said in this post is an opinion.  Please prove me wrong.  Thank you.
