Sanderson get the start?
Razor Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Nederland leading Morton Ranch 4-2 after 4 right now
scapegoat Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 Jersey Village starting pitcher going to U Houston was hitting 92 on the gun.Sanderson was hitting 91.Village catcher on full ride to Oklahoma. The catch the center-fielder made with the bases loaded to keep the Dogs from winning the game should get him a ride to LSU[ Lucky Sucker University] just kidding it was a awesome catch on Sampere's drive.Sampere rebounded with two big doubles that were key hits in the win against Morton Ranch.Nevala pitched against Ranch but was a victim of very poor defense by the Dogs.Clark relieved in both games and Ramoine also relieved against Ranch.Dogs carrying on the tradition of the football team by finding a way to win close games.Pitching and hitting are great but the Dogs are going to tighten up the defense to win the 20-4a district title.Go Dogs!
PhatMack19 Posted March 2, 2013 Author Report Posted March 2, 2013 Nederland beat Friendswood in the first game today. They had a rough one against Pearland in the second game and lost 11-2.Maybe scapegoat can give us some details later.

[/quote]Nearly every team has a few mis-steps during the early parts of the season (especially during tournaments when pitching and rest is limited). But despite the rough outing against Pearland, it sounds like the Dogs are exceeding everyone's early expectations and very well may be the top team in 20-4A once again. On a side note, is Sanderson getting any looks from the next level? With a fastball touching 90 it shouldn't be long before they come knocking...
scapegoat Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Preston White started game against Friendswood.A umpire with a tight strike zone high skies and high winds it was easy to see it was going to be a high scoring affair.Preston worked his way through a few tough innings and gave way to Bret Smith that pitched a short stint. The score was tied 7-7 when Beau Stewart took charge. When I say he took charge he shut them down for three innings. The Dogs prevailed with a 12-7 victory.Ramoine started the second game against Pearland.Pearland had about five or six D-1 caliber players on their squad.Sam Smith relieved Ramoin and was effective one trip through the line up but the second trip was not so good.First time Nederland has been out-matched this year.Pearland won 11-2.Dogs offense was lead by Jordan Wood today.Michael Shaw had a nice showing with a bunt single and a smoked double to left-center against Pearland. What I like about Nederland this year is in winnable games they are finding a way to WIN! This staff is short Carson Raines and Korbin Stampley due to injuries and is 2-1-1 in a very tough tournament.Hope they keep fighting and finding a way to win! Go Dogs!
Bud Kilmer Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Pearland is loaded, they have three guys that are high 80s touching low 90s on the mound plus solid 1-9 in the lineup. I suspect they will make a deep playoff run in the 5a bracket.
UTfanatic Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Dogs playing Clearlake TodayDogs scored 4 in the top of the first. Triple by Sampere and double by Sanderson.Stewart on mound for Dogs....extremely windy and cold at the ballpark...

UTfanatic Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Top of 5thRaines drives in two. CL changing pitchers....Ned 8 CL 2............
UTfanatic Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Raines in to closeFinal Ned 10 CL 2Dogs are now 8-1-1 on the year getting ready for district
Razor Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Pretty good weekend for the Dogs going 3-1-1 against some pretty good competition...pitching depth has been the most pleasing IMO along with how the Dogs are swinging the bats all the way thru the lineup
scapegoat Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Beau Stewart started the game against Clear Lake that was 3-1 in the tournament until today. He worked both sides of the plate very well only walking one batter in 4 innings of work.Beau had two very impressive outings.Raines closed the game and was flat-out nasty!Mitchell Sanderson led the Dogs offensive attack collecting 3 hits today.Seven other players collected one hit a piece.Ned. put together some impressive at bats fouling off several tough pitches and drawing walks. The Dogs are good about putting the ball in play. They seldom strike-out.The final score was Dogs 10 Lake 2.This Dogs team does not have a "wow" factor about it but they sure know how to "WIN".They have proven they can win low scoring games and slug-fest.Just a Blue-Collar team that pitches well and put the ball in play.Kind of funny last year the Dogs were at the top of the Home Run list but did not win very many games. This year they are at the bottom of the list but have a very impressive record.
