Maybe someone knows someone who can benefit from this article.
Dick Vitale Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 Reason #1: unrealistic expectations of what level of college they should be able to play.Reason #2: They are a good player on a bad team.Reason #3: They are just not good enough.Thats about as simple as it can be put..... ;)

Maybe someone knows someone who can benefit from this article.[/quote]Kudos Blue for sharing this information, hopefully some of our adult breatheren on here will spread the word so that the youth will be aware that there are avenues to be explored even if they didn't light up the score board. Back in the mid 80's they held something similar to this in Houston and though I was fortunate enough to have found a home to continue my pursuit of the game I vividly recall watching unsigned seniors trying to continue their dream. Upon the conclusion of play seeing some of those guys being beckoned up into the bleachers to speak with college scouts and coaches was joyful. Although the player's in our area aren't on the biggest stage in regards to classification nothing is more heart warming than to plan a Saturday afternoon traveling to watch a former local high schooler suit up for some educational institution while still participating in the sport he/she loves :D.

AggiesAreWe Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 In regards to Elam and Holmes, Elam still has another year of high school, Holmes looks like will be playing football, not basketball, at the next level.

He needs to put on 12-15 lbs of muscle in order to play at the next level. It can easily be achieved over the summer with the right guidance and dedication. He has the skills, but lacks the physicality, IMO.

It would be harder to make the Port Arthur Sea Hawks team than LU.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted March 4, 2013 Author Report Posted March 4, 2013 Interesting, there is only ONE unsigned player from this area scheduled to play in an unsigned senior event in Houston. Should be more players signing up for this event. They might draw some interest from a college coach.
