  2. 4 teams is fine as long as you get rid of the 4 and 5 team districts. I am pretty sure what 4 seeds won this week all came from districts that had 6 or more teams. Most likely 7 teams or more.

  5. Well, remember these are inner city schools. A lot of fans and parents rely on the bus system to get around (they don't own cars or if they do, they probably couldn't make it to Baytown) and the last Park and Ride out of Baytown is at 9 pm. Also, a lot of these folks are working at the time. So it is a choice of going to see your kid or working to feed him or her. A lot of folks that are in these school zones don't enjoy the same community as a Barbers Hill or Lumberton.

  6. I was just doing this math myself. I am 100% okay with 4 teams making the playoffs with this number of 4 seeds beating district champions. It is crazy when a 10-0 teams lose in the first round to teams that barely make the playoffs. But I am a big fan of the underdog. The upsets are more than likely going to happen in the bigger schools but you gotta love the 2a 4 seeds that win the first round playoff game.

  7. Well, that may be true, but West Brook still looked much better than when they played Sterling, LaPorte, King, United, and especially Deer Park. If they keep doing their thing, and keep improving every week, I think they could find themselves back in the state championship game. I'll be there to root them on.

  8. Going into Saturday's games, here is what I have seen from watching most of the games: Jasper and Barbers Hill will be quite a game, as they have been head and shoulders above the rest of the competition the first two days. Concordia Lutheran and Tomball have been very solid in the games they have played, two well coached ball clubs that get the most out of their squads. PNG, Orangefield, and Lumberton have appeared to be up and down overall in terms of execution, be it from just finishing out rosters from returning volleyball players, integrating newer players into the varsity lineup, etc. These three teams have shown effort and hustle, the efficiency at which they have played at is what is still being dialed in. Kelly has shown flashes as well, adjusting to style of play coach is having them play. Vidor and Cleveland are young rosters that play very hard, and will continue to improve as the season moves forward

  9. The Tree Restaurant Player of the Game is Silsbee RB Chris Martin. Martin had 172 yards on just 6 carries with 2 touchdowns (62 and 65). He also had 2 interceptions. Congrats Chris!!

  16. Great win by the Eagles last night putting up 420 yards off offense and only allowing 115 yards on Defense! Now on to area which will be played at NRG Friday at 7:30 against a solid Whitehouse team. Looking at there highlights they are very similar to BH. They have a good dual threat QB that makes good decisions and runs out of the spread effectively supported by a good O line. They also have a good RB with break away speed that they run the jet sweep with quite a bit. It's hard to tell with just film, but I believe we are bigger and better in the trenches which should give BH the advantage. I also think we will be a bigger more physical team over all, but we will again have to play lights out defense because they are like us very versatile and have many ways to hurt you. Defensively Whitehouse is not bad, so this should be a great game to see. Whitehouse is 8-3 lost to Henderson 23-0 (1st game of the year), Melissa 36-14 (3rd game of the year) and Marshall in district 35-8 Had a lot of tight wins against Chapel Hill 46-39, Jacksonville 25-13, Nacogdoches 19-14, Lindale 43-36 & Hallsville 28-21 If BH plays a mistake free solid game I think the Eagles advance to round 3. Goodluck BH practice your butts off this week and lets keep rolling!

  18. If they are in an economically challenged area, then maybe the school district can supply a fan bus for the parents and fans. The district can afford it. It would be if the fans amd parents want to go. All those athletes need support.

  21. From 2:22 left in third till a 1:42 of fourth. Porter recovered the onside kick and turned it over on downs with 1:19 left and two timeouts. Stuffed two runs and a Qb Rollout. Forced a punt with 23 seconds which lead to a really great play. The Hightower punter is left footed and had taken three steps to his left all game. Away from his blockers. The Porter defender ran to the spot instead of straight at punter. Blocked it and scooped it. Hightower completed about a 50 yard pass with 6 seconds left but the Porter defender managed to push him out of bounds around the 10 as the clock expired.

  24. I was at this game. Good WB was able to get through this game with no significant injuries. Point blank, WB was really good and Kingwood was very bad. Only speed they had was the kick returner. You know it's bad when Yowman was outrunning their defenders. They did Kingwood in with the passing game the first half. Second half, Brook played the bench, which is when Kingwood scores. Also, WB ran 95% up the middle run plays. In to the next game on the quest for a title. Like another day in the park. #BGOE

  25. I never cared about who's in a district, you still gotta show up and play. The score may not have showed it, but I saw we can play with anyone in district 10. Talent wasn't Memorial's problem this year, and lack of execution was on offense. Blame it on whoever, 5 tds on blown coverages and we was able to move the ball. Every lose ball bounced their way. I was more impressed by losing to the #10 by 42 than anything I saw all season.

  26. Per jacketgrad06 of smoaky: Posted 11 minutes ago That count is up to 15. Still a couple left to be played and I didn’t look at 6A due to the split after district. 16 1vs4 in each division 128 games 15 won so far thats right about 12% with a few more to be played and not counting any 6A. 5A Div 1 has the most with 4. 3A Div2 is the only division without a 4 over a 1. I say keep 4 teams. There are the outliers that don’t win that shouldn’t be there but they will get put out that week anyway.

  28. Guys this Crosby team is really good. I thought they could become this when I saw them against Manvel early. Since they were forced to play without their new quarterback it has really helped develop the rest of the team. How good, 70 points in a playoff game is a lot. Well know more next week.

  37. QB from Willowridge probably has 300 yards passing at the half. Couple of questionable play calls for Crosby keeping it closer than it probably should be but to be fair, we’ve had 2 probable td drives stopped on poor execution by the players and a flat out senseless penalty.

  45. This is a great example of the fallacy allowing teams such as West Hardin in the playoffs in the current "every kid gets a trophy" playoff structure. They are not playoff caliber and then when they are run off the field, they cry about the "true" playoff caliber team running up the score. It is likely that the Mart 8th grade team would have hung 40 on WH.
