4 teams is fine as long as you get rid of the 4 and 5 team districts. I am pretty sure what 4 seeds won this week all came from districts that had 6 or more teams. Most likely 7 teams or more.

Well, remember these are inner city schools. A lot of fans and parents rely on the bus system to get around (they don't own cars or if they do, they probably couldn't make it to Baytown) and the last Park and Ride out of Baytown is at 9 pm. Also, a lot of these folks are working at the time. So it is a choice of going to see your kid or working to feed him or her. A lot of folks that are in these school zones don't enjoy the same community as a Barbers Hill or Lumberton.

I was just doing this math myself. I am 100% okay with 4 teams making the playoffs with this number of 4 seeds beating district champions. It is crazy when a 10-0 teams lose in the first round to teams that barely make the playoffs. But I am a big fan of the underdog. The upsets are more than likely going to happen in the bigger schools but you gotta love the 2a 4 seeds that win the first round playoff game.

Well, that may be true, but West Brook still looked much better than when they played Sterling, LaPorte, King, United, and especially Deer Park. If they keep doing their thing, and keep improving every week, I think they could find themselves back in the state championship game. I'll be there to root them on.

Everyone is away

Going into Saturday's games, here is what I have seen from watching most of the games: Jasper and Barbers Hill will be quite a game, as they have been head and shoulders above the rest of the competition the first two days. Concordia Lutheran and Tomball have been very solid in the games they have played, two well coached ball clubs that get the most out of their squads. PNG, Orangefield, and Lumberton have appeared to be up and down overall in terms of execution, be it from just finishing out rosters from returning volleyball players, integrating newer players into the varsity lineup, etc. These three teams have shown effort and hustle, the efficiency at which they have played at is what is still being dialed in. Kelly has shown flashes as well, adjusting to style of play coach is having them play. Vidor and Cleveland are young rosters that play very hard, and will continue to improve as the season moves forward

The Tree Restaurant Player of the Game is Silsbee RB Chris Martin. Martin had 172 yards on just 6 carries with 2 touchdowns (62 and 65). He also had 2 interceptions. Congrats Chris!!

It was sad to watch them play this last game , always hate it for the seniors. Proud of them all and especially proud of my son. This was only second year to play football in high school. He started both years and ended his senior year with a great season. He wore the blue and gold with honor and respect and always left it on the field. Now to Basketball and baseball the sports he has played on varsity every year. The Rebels finished the season with class and respect. Great year Rebels you had to overcome one of the smallest teams in numbers and then fight through more injuries than anyone could keep up with. Again you did it with class and never laid down.

I really hope I’m included in the “same 3-4 people” that you’re referring to. It would truly be flattering. Not that it matters, but I’ll offer a reasonable explanation. Nobody talks down on anyone.. that doesn’t over exaggerate the predicted talent of the team they root for. Like some WH posters did. Do that and you’re gonna get attacked..every time. ALSO.. people who blame coaches for their team’s lack of talent (like you just did)... will also get attacked. Maybe you don’t read many of my posts outside of anything WH related, but I don’t discriminate against delusional fans or coach bashers of ANY school. You honestly think the coaching staff would’ve mattered against Evadale, Grapeland, Lovelady, or Mart? No offense but you guys just brought a knife to a gun fight. With 15 #4 seeds beating #1 seeds how can people be complaining? It's just like any other system, some slip thru the cracks but as a whole it's just fine. Making teams drive 3 and 4 hours to have 7 teams is not the answer. It's even worse out West.

I’m sure opinions on this will be split down the middle. For the power house teams playing a 1-9 team just use it as a glorified practice. Bring up some JV players and let them get a taste of playoff atmosphere in a different stadium. Play the game and move on. It is what it is

Proud these kids, wasn't the season we wanted but it was the season we got. Fought hard and never gave up, as a fan. That's all I could ask for.

HJ 49 SA Reagan 63 Final Game was a 5-9 point game most of the way. Jackson sat out of game for precautionary reasons from last night. The other girls stepped up and played well. Just wasn't enough. Play tomorrow at 8am vs. either Converse Judson or Laredo United
