    Coaching Carosel

Well since we are asking about folks credentials here (and, no, I am not a coach), what in the way of coaching experience do you bring to the table so that everyone here should use your "scale" as to what an "elite" coach is?

    Trump impeached

You know, these dims crap all over OUR constitution on a regular basis, especially during this impeachment process, but when it seems to serve them, they reach in their hip pocket and try to quote it, or at least recognize it. It also bothers me when they talk about our founding fathers, as if they would make even a pimple on any of their rear ends. Those visionaries were pure geniuses. I wonder if any of our congressmen today are aware of this..... The founding fathers only paid senators and congressmen a “per diem” amount while in session. They knew that if congress was paid a salary that they could always vote to increase, then they would no longer be “Of the people” but “Above the people”. They wanted those in Congress to be subject to the same economic and financial conditions as the rest of the nation based upon the laws they passed.......genius

  12. Somewhat of a Trap game before NorthShore rematch Jan.21 at Bmt United... In any event they got the needed "W" to stay in contention for a share of the district Title. #19 Bmt United (22-4) (6-1)

  13. Well IDK, SetxSports has NorthShore ranked #1 in their poll ahead of #2 Bmt United with that said United is the underdog in this one. The contest will be played at NorthShore that in its self is an obstacle to be reckoned with. The winner will have a leg up on the district title for sure.

  16. I always thought Bush was the motor that made that team go. Adams and McCain were D1 players but Bush was the man.

  17. This was the 7th time I have watched HJ this season. IMO, #2 Wirth is the catalyst that makes the Hawks go. He does it on both ends of the floor. #22 Samaha might be my favorite player on the HJ team, but Wirth is their MVP if that team has one. I agree, the Hawks are a TEAM more so than others. I also think they are deeper than Silsbee it's just that Silsbee clearly has the best player and scoring 31 last night pretty much proved that fact. But, Martin and Cartwright are good in their own rights and compliment Bush very well. Martin took over the 3rd quarter last night scoring 14 of his 19. Cartwright was big in 1st quarter but struggled the remainder of the game until hitting the winning shot. I look for a similar game next time at HJ.

  18. He’s a gritty kid who seems to consistently play his better ball the bigger the stage. This group of Hawks are a lot of fun to watch. They are probably one of the most unselfish bunch I’ve ever watched.

  19. We're always impressed with Bush. But I've got to say that I"m very very impressed with Wirth as well. I don't know how important he is from game to game but last night he was the essential element. Without Wirth they lose by 15. What a great basketball sense he has. Right place at the right time. And when push came to shove he wanted the ball and he delivered. Is that what it's like with him all the time? And the thing is that when they run out for warm ups he's the LEAST likely looking kid bet be the backbone of the team. Just an average, forgive me but I have to say it, scrawny looking kid. There's nothing scrawny about his game. Our Tigers are a little bit better but this is a really good team. I predict they will make it to the Regional Tournament or to Yates, whichever comes first. The silly kids are always chanting "overrated" at Silsbee but when it comes to Hawks I'll chant "underrated".

  25. Not happy we blew a 10 point lead in the fourth quarter. Some of that was HJ, but some of that was also bad Silsbee. Need to clean that up for the next game. Martin went out for a few plays with a leg injury. Soon as he comes back in he gets tangled up with a Hawk, who proceeds to lay on that leg for just a little too long. Neither him nor a few other Silsbee players were happy about that. That's what the main technical fouls were over. Still, our kids need to not give away free points in close games.

  28. Lived up to it’s billing. Tigers made lots of mistakes in the last minutes to blow a lead. Hawks had a lot to do with that and capitalized. I go back to my contention that the Hawks deserve to be in the top 25.

  29. If the Pirates can get through the next 2 games unscathed at Cleveland and vs Dayton then the district race for the 4th spot will be very interesting down the stretch.

  41. Major major major hire for Dayton! Don’t see how a guy like Blake Ware takes this job if it doesn’t eventually lead to the AD position also. Nations is just probably under contract for another year or so? Either way, this is how get back into the game. That’s assuming Dayton doesn’t Dayton the situation up and not him to hire the staff he needs. New Caney used to be awful. Coach Pennington gets all the credit for turning them into what they are now, as he should, but in my opinion the real architect behind NC’s rebuild was Ware. He was mostly responsible for getting kids like his son Timmy Ware, Marte Allison and others to transfer with him from St. Pius X and begin the NC turnaround. Mix that with the growth in that area and NC is what you see now. Wouldn’t at all be surprised to see Ware still call plays as head coach, which is somewhat common these days. I think Dayton has a good chance to retain him long term if given the AD position because they’ll be more than willing to offer competitive compensation if they start really winning again. From Coach Ware’s standpoint you’re going to be at a school where you can build a perennial powerhouse in your classification. I think Dayton is going to get to play in 5A-D2 for quite some time which is going to help coach Ware immensely in rebuilding the program. Again, Coach Ware needs to be able to hire the guys he wants. If he’s allowed to, I expect Dayton to be back in the playoffs and maybe even competing for district championships within a couple of years. It’s also dependent on him being able to increase the participation rates again, which is something that’s usually a given when a losing regime leaves. I’m pleased with our coach now, but this is the type hire I wouldn’t have mind seeing Crosby make when they were searching. Congrats Dayton fans, better times are coming of your system doesn’t get in the way.
