After watching Kountze play last season in what was one of if not the worst season in their history (winning just 3 games last year, arguably the worst Kountze team that I had ever seen) I was curious to see how the Lions would be this season. Well, after watching them earlier this season and then broadcasting their win last night over Buna, I am here to claim that things are all right in the local basketball world because Kountze Lion basketball is back! The Lions looked like what we around here have always been accustomed to seeing and it makes me very happy to see this fantastic turnaround. I am so happy for Coach Joubert and the Lion faithful. They went through an embarrassing season last year going 3-26. Only 1 district win. Now, the Lions are back on top of the district and look to be a force in the playoffs. Kudos to the coaches and players for putting last season behind them and getting back to Kountze basketball. I said it last week and will say it again. The local boys high school basketball scene is so much better when Kountze is battling for district and regional titles. The Lions are back!!

You're absolutely right. It won't matter because one will finish in the cellar. But the reason why is because @Alpha Wolf , @WOSgrad , or myself were unable to ascertain the CV/King score earlier in district. Hey, think we 're playing. Some of these girls scores are HARD to get. Lol

The Nederland loss hurt them for the playoff race. They are going to have to find a way to win one of the Dayton games. It’s going to be fun to see how this all plays out though. With basically 3 or 4 games left, it’s still anybody’s place 2-5. BH pretty much has first place locked up. BH I think has VIdor, PNG and Cleveland left PNG still has two teams left in the playoff race in Nederland and PAM, plus BH then Vidor. PAM still has to finish Dayton game and play them a second time, plus PNG, then I think Vidor and Cleveland Nederland still has PNG this Friday and I believe BH and Dayton. Dayton still has PAM the two games, plus Nederland.

Freshman PG had 37 points and she sat out the 4th.

I'm trying to figure out what crimes did Trump commit? He didn't do anything that is a crime. So how in the hell is he going to lose? Some of you watch way too much CNN (Fake news). It don't matter what Trump does, CNN and Dems find a way to make him look wrong. Go ask the parents and loved ones what they think about Trump ordering our Troops to kill the man responsible for killing their loved ones. And they were trying to make him look bad on this issue. That is insane! If Obama would have done that everyone including the Republican's would have praised him. It's amazing the thought process of some of you Dems. They can't pay Trump off and get what they want like other past President's so they wish to try and break him down. Even if he is guilty of all of what he is accused its still not an impeachable offense. This BS will lead to a lot more of this kind of BS in the future. The Republican's will not forget the next time they are over the House. I would hope they care more about America than to try and pull this kind of BS. Dems will try and use this on the campaign trail all the way up until November and it still wont work. Just so you all of you know he will be found not guilty and then be reelected in 2020. So get over it and get ready for 4 more years, Trump 2020!

Have to admit any school that plays just basketball has a huge advantage. More games played more pratice time. It goes along ways just look at the 1a and 2a ranks. SA is probly one of the top 3 most athletic teams in all of 2a and give them just basketball and they would be a monster. Woden Broaddus Many more small schools should be dominating. Imo

Winning cures everything. If Lumberton was losing every game and not a playoff contender then there would be a problem with "yelling" or whatever else a parent could come up with.

I’m not looking at a stat sheet but I know the Bears were shooting in the double bonus around the 4:00 minute mark in the first half. The foul count was 14-4 I believe at the half.That will keep games close.

They did. He injured his knee in the EC game. He won't be back this season. Not that he would have completely kept Kountze off the boards, but he certainly would've helped a ton. Good kid and a good player. He's just a junior and will be back next season.

To make much noise in the playoffs you’ve got to win the district. The runner up faces Yates in the second round. Honestly it would be better this year to come in 4th than 2nd. 1st and 4th are in the other sub bracket and wouldn’t face Yates till Region.

HJ 67, LCM 50. The lead was at 5 going into the final quarter, but we ran out of gas and couldn't buy a bucket late. Jesse Doucette had 24 and freshman Ben Elliott had 14. Baxter Wirth scored 23. HJ is a solid two or three deep at every position and could really make some noise in the playoffs.

I was in attendance for this one it got ugly early. Subs played half of the 2nd and 4th quarters United was up 22-0 at the end of 1st Qt. The Final was United 75..Sterling 29 #8 Bmt United (25-2)( (8-0)

Livingston gut stomped WOS and gave East Chambers a game. But then they got beat by Hampshire Fanette, who I'm glad to see is much improved. Outside of Huffman, everyone of these teams is wildly inconsistent. Silsbee and HJ win their games handily but depending on who's number 2 and 3 and how they're feeling that night, a split is possible. If we played a bi district tournament, only Huffman would be in the gold bracket and 21-4a would be making up most of the bronze bracket. But in a one game scenerio, I like my chances at a split. But I wouldn't put more than a Florida's kitchen rib special on it!

WO-S had theirs put in during the summer and had it done in plenty of time for the opening of the 2019 season. navydawg is right, it doesn't take too long to put in. But that is still not fast enough for some folks. LOL

I honestly don't have a clue about how to start fixing it. I don't blame the teachers for the current state of education. My mama used to have a saying... She'd say that "nobody is raising those kids, they're just getting bigger." That seems pretty true about a lot of our youth today.

Common sense won't be tolerated.

Don't forget about R. Sosa, B. Bost, and K. Curtis. All three of these kids have hot bats too. The one thing PNG and BH have is that majority of the players on each team play at the highest level of Select Premier Baseball during the summer. Most other teams in the district don't.
