I have nothing but the utmost respect for Coach Babin. Based on what I’ve seen and where he’s been.. he’s definitely a quality coach. But make no mistake, had they not dropped there would have been NO success in football. Keep that in mind. I’m not certain that they could successfully implement a spread style offense where they are now. They go back up to 5A it’s gonna be an immediate struggle. Comments like the one you just made: “A great coach could win at Lumberton using the spread”.. is the reason that the school struggles with consistency in the coaching department. I feel sorry for whoever gets the job knowing that there are fans with unrealistic expectations.

I got some further clarity on the 10-5A-I situation from both Coach Morgan and Matt Stepp. 1. They did continue zone play. Last week's Manvel/Richmond Foster game was the district championship game. 2. Manvel will be the #1 seed out of 10-5A-I. 3. Richmond Foster will be the #2 seed. 4. Hightower has clinched a playoff berth. 5. Paetow and Angleton play this week for the final playoff spot. 6. If Paetow wins, they will play Hightower next week in a #3 seeding game (winner #3 loser #4) 7. If Angleton wins, they will concede the #3 seed to Hightower and enter as the #4 seed.

Still amazed that people actually think just because you run a variation of the SPREAD that you can't be a smash mouth, physical, downhill, ball control, power running football team. OH, and God forbid you actually throw the ball. I know some of you thing the forward pass is sacreligious.

Yes! Yes! Yes! The community, just as much as the players and coaches, have to be a part of the culture. Yes, a good coach will have the team in the right offense (and defense) to suit the personnel. It is just that the offense very might be the slot T. No, it is not a favorite of mine either. But it is an offense that, if run correctly, can be very explosive. Ask me, I know, Pleasant Grove gashed my beloved Mustangs, who are known to have a decent defense, for 41 points in the 2017 title game. Liberty Hill has won titles with it. You can score and win with it. Running it is not an admission of inferiority. It doesn't mean that you don't believe you have the athletes to win. It is run because that is the best fit. I have been told to win in the spread, your quarterback needs have around a 60% pass completion percentage. Does Lumberton have that type of quarterback? I don't know. If they don't, a change to the spread like so many desire here would only guarantee that your defense will see a lot of time on the field. 3 plays that take only about 20 seconds off of the clock can do that. If folks here in Lumberton don't trust the coach to institute the offense that best suits the players, then it would behoove Lumberton ISD not to hire that coach.

Lumberton is better than they have ever been in the 4 years I’ve been in this area. This is my observation from me watching them on film in the past and seeing them in person this year. That district is very impressive with the quality of teams. Coach Mitchell does a great job and is a good man. Hardworking and straight class individual.

HJ should win state with this group.

I have seen many a College Station game over the past few years. Their style of play is not conducive to "blow" teams out.

A smart quarterback with the ability to hit a target.. and fairly fast, good route running backs and receivers that can catch. The best spread coach in the world can't beat Alabama with a group of junior high girls.

I’ve never been inside a Scott Surratt locker room, but from interviews and tidbits over the years I can tell you that “locker room wall” and/or “bulletin board material” is not needed for this program. They are always motivated just to go win the next state championship. Every class that comes through there wants to win one just like the classes before them and they work for it everyday. If you play in the Carthage program and don’t win a championship, you are nearly in the minority since Carthage wins it more often than not. No one wants to be one of the teams that didn’t.

I figured that Summer Creek would have taken a step backwards after losing the blue chipper 6’3’ senior post (#14) and the sharp shooting senior Guard (#3) from last year. They were some ballers. Looks like they just reloaded.

I’ve heard even the NYT has said that mail in voting is ripe for fraud. Everyone knows it. You can bet that, barring some miracle, the Dems will win both Senate races in Georgia. Do I think the Dems cheated? Absolutely. Same Party trying to get Californians to move to Ga to vote on the above Senate races. The Dems have kicked out God so they have zero morale obligation to do the right thing. Evil has no rules.

You think everything is going to happen in 2 seconds. Trumps team is gathering evidence. That's the way it works. If you keep an open mind you will see that there is tons of evidence piling up. Come on -- even you can't think that all of this was a legit election when at the end of election day Trump was up 700,000 votes and then a couple of days later he is losing by 40,000! Even you would have to question this. That's why Pennsylvania was one of the states that stopped the vote count. They had to find the votes. The Dominion/Smartmatic couldn't keep up with the fraud needed. I trust you have been paying attention and know what Dominion/Smartmatic is?

No need to read more in to this game than there was. Both clubs were extremely short handed. The Hawks had 2 starters and a couple of players who get significant minutes missing and 3 starters and one of the first players off the bench who just got through playing football and had a couple of walk thru practices. Some young players on both sides looked pretty good and should add much needed depth this year,

This is the second huge loss we have taken in as many years. Thanks to everybody for the condolences and RIP Coach Randy aka Big Dawg. Thank you for the memories and the thousands of lives you impacted over the last quarter century. I know you’re up there living it up with Reggie as I type this post.

The outcome, i dont think it will be as lopsided but this year it would have to be an upset if the Tigers were to win.

I would like to think that coaches use whatever system fits the talent or lack of... of the kids they have. I know that a coach is considered a bad coach when they don't win but none of them are trying to lose on purpose...even the bad ones. It's very possible that the kids currently at Lumberton just don't have the personnel to spread it out and sling it around. I understand that's what all of the sideline coaches want their hometown teams to do but let's be real. Everyone wants to go no back with some run/pass option but come on.. Why risk a 70-0 loss due to 3 incompletions and a punt every possession without burning any time. Even the offensive coordinator from Austin Westlake will NOT be able to do whatever he does at WL if he came to Lumberton.

I think that NED is a solid team. We will see if they can come out and make some stops early. If they can do that it will be close but if they cant it will be a walk away. BH defense has payed well this year even against Crosby. So if we can continue that and the O can keep it moving like we have since Crosby then I say BH by minimum of 14.
