WOS at Vidor scrimmage
Boneyard Boys and 3 others reacted to WOSdrummer99 for a topic
I remembered that I know Ivan Croak's son Pete. He used to work over here in West Orange. I hadn't been there since 97 or 98. Great to see the upgraded facilities in person. Needs a little more work on the drainage. But hey this is SETX. Vidor showed an improved offense from the scrimmage I saw last season. The qb is small but quick, sneaky at hiding the play. And #40 is a beast for them at nose guard. If he wasn't blocked, he was all over the field. DBs were lost trying to find the ball in the air. And the WOS QB can definitely do that. He is as good as he looks in the highlights. But he got lucky a few times because it was vidor. A more athletic team would make him pay for that. But his timing with the receivers is there already. This is gonna be an explosive offense once they it all together. Gales is great RB and always needs to get more carries. The Mustangs defense has once again shown some suspects. I didnt expect vidor to exploit the weaknesses after halftime. It's only Thursday so they got some time to straighten it out.4 points -

Critical Race Theory
baddog and 2 others reacted to LumRaiderFan for a topic
[Hidden Content] From the article: A father in Colorado Springs who is the descendant of slaves slammed critical race theory during a public school district’s board meeting, saying racism in America would "by and large be dead" if not for institutions such as the education system "keeping it on life support." "I am a direct descendant of the North American slave trade. Both my parents are black. All four of my grandparents are black, all eight of my great great grandparents, and all 16 of my great greats. On my mother's side, my ancestors were enslaved in Alabama. On my father's side, we were enslaved in Texas," he said during a board meeting last week. "I am not oppressed. I'm not oppressed and I'm not a victim." The unidentified father went on to say that "racism in America would by and large be dead today if it were not for certain people and institutions keeping it on life support." "Sadly, one of those institutions is the American education system." The father of three went on to say that he "can think of nothing more damaging to a society than to tell a baby born today, that she has grievances against another baby born today, simply because of what their ancestors may have done two centuries ago." "There's simply no point in doing that to our children, and putting critical race theory into our classrooms in part does that. Putting critical theory into our classrooms is not combating racism. It's fanning the flames of what little embers are left. I encourage you to support this resolution. Let racism die the death it deserves."3 points -
WOS at Vidor scrimmage

Great scrimmage like usual against the Mustangs. They looked good and dominated us pretty much all game. Pirates showed some promise but we have alot to work on, the passes are right in our receivers bread basket almost every time but they got butter fingers. Most of the yardage Vidors ground game came straight up the gut, we had nothing trying to get in the flats and WOS speed showed easily. Good luck the rest of the way Mustangs, I look forward to seeing y'all make another deep playoff run! Our Vidor boys have potential, just gotta clean up some bonehead mistakes. Go Pirates!3 points -

Y’all crazy as hell talking about Nederland going to struggle solely based on a scrimmage. I have seen Nederland time and time again be 0-3 1-2 going into district and run the table… let’s address where we might end up in a few weeks. Until then let Monte and company do their work and magic on the kids and the let the kids go to work. PS PAM is probably going to go back to back district champs this year again. I have them at least 3 rounds deep. It’s a great test and grow up session for our dogs. Best of luck to the Titans this year! This bulldog will be rooting for y’all3 points -

West Brook is dominating. They took it to PA last week 23-0. As good as the offense is, WB defense is what has impressed me in both scrimmages. Also Langston isn’t putting up with any smack talk or showboating. He shuts it down real fast.3 points -

If any of those RBs need a big O-Line to run behind and wants 25 carries a game, I know a guy 😂. #bellcow #mailbox2 points

I mentioned the drop off in the run game from what we’ve seen the last several years BEFORE last night’s scrimmage. It’s really a shame too, because we have a huge O-Line to run behind. Hopefully, someone will step up. I think the defense is okay but there’s been a few mixups in the secondary. Bottom line to me is this… if we don’t find a reliable run game, then we don’t beat good teams. I certainly classify WOS as a good team.2 points

Not to mention the fact that being able to run 8.5 mph for 7 minutes, has nothing to do with being a good football player. That type of training doesn't make you better in the 4th quarter either. We've learned lots about training since those days.2 points -
Based on the excellent posting of Boneyard Boys, I had score at 31-14. We don’t need a FB algorithm to know that was a good old fashion hiney whipping. On the plus side, IF Vidor can learn how to catch a pass, we could be competitive, and getting a whipping from WOS is not shameful. I think the Stangs will be a Force this year, and I’m excited for them.2 points

VACCINATION CARD Hello. -Hi, table for two, please. -Sure, and your name. -Daryl. -Great. And do you and your guest have your vaccination cards? -Hmmm well first..Can you tell us who our server will be? -Um, looks like Brad will be your server tonight. -Great. Can you show us Brad's vaccination card? -Um... -And also, can you provide me with proof that Brad is not a carrier of HIV, Hepatitis A or B, or any other communicable diseases? Same for you and the kitchen staff. -Um... -Also, we would prefer not to be served by someone who is on or uses recreational drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, meth, fentanyl, etc, so if you could provide us with Brad's most recent tox screen, that would be great. Matter of fact, imma need to see all of your employees medical history. -Um... Let me get the manager for you. -That would be great, thanks. Make sure they have their vax card and medical records please. Here’s the thing, nobody needs restaurants, and other places; but they need us. Start standing your ground. Stolen and passing along.2 points

You know some folks take scrimmages too seriously (hell there's one we both know about from PA), happens every year, hopefully both teams got at least somewhat of their agenda done coming into the scrimmage without any injuries going into Week-1. Good luck to Nederland this year as well.2 points -

See my friend, that is just the thing - I’m not scared. I serve a risen Savior who’s in the world today. I have not once really fretted, never wore a mask, had the disease (probably twice) and life goes on. I am not an “anti-vaxxer” as I have had all required, and who knows what else administered while I was in the military. I just never thought in my own country would I be asked for “papers” to dine somewhere, see a show or go about daily life. But hey, life will go on and we’ll adjust.2 points -

Looks like Dallas Kimball is stacking up for a possible rematch with Beaumont United for the state championship. Arterio Morris had left Kimball to attend Ischool in Lewisville but after Keyonte George left to attend IMG he has decided to return to Kimball. But he also grabbed ischools highly ranked guard trae Clayton to come to kimball. Also hearing Kimball grabbed two more players one from family faith (not Jordan Walsh who's gone to cali) and another from Coppell ( not anthony black whos headed to Duncanville). Man I thought greater Houston kids were moving and shaking. WOW!!!1 point -

If Myles wasn't blown dead on contact this offense will be deadly.Receivers was catching everything thrown near them.#10 has great hands and is not afraid to lower that shoulder on contact.Players #'s did not match Hudl or Maxpreps so can't single out by names. If you think the cupboard is dry in the RB category,do not fear. Two of the three rbs in the scrimmage tonight ,I was told were sophomores, and they looked scary and will only get better.Crosby's front seven on defense looked extremely quick and completely shut Angelton's running game down. When the secondary catches up the defense will be AOK !1 point -

Huntsville brings back two on defense and neither one of their names is Bobino. They do bring back 8 on offense but their offense really wasn’t that great. May be a lot better this year though? I’m almost more concerned with A&M Con. having a bounce back year or Montgomery finding a defense.1 point -

last year the Dogs offense was explosive had a fantastic RB and a good QB. It appears that the talent level has dropped off at those 2 positions and it also seems like the secondary’s talent level has dropped off. hope you are right and hope they improve, but as of now I don’t think they will score more than 7 vs WOS. hope I am wrong. sure want to see them do well1 point

Head coaches will live or die with their decisions! But the question is: Can Lumberton field 22 players that can make a run for the State Title?1 point

Admittedly a biased post here, as Clay coached me when I was a kid, and I’ve always liked him. I did a little research, and talked to some HJ folks as well. As best I can tell, Tatum won about 7 games in two years before Davis got there, then won 19 his first year, 26 his second. Two district titles in his two years there, and a regional tourney appearance. Took over Jasper and won the district his first year, and took them to the regional quarters. Missed the playoffs the next year, which was the year he was dealing with some family stuff that led to him coming back to HJ as an assistant. I believe his playoff runs at those schools were the deepest both schools had ever gone at the time. HJ hasn’t gone as far under Davis as they did under Sutherland in the playoffs, but they’ve lost in the playoffs to Sterling, Navasota, Yates x 3, and Silsbee. Every one of those teams went to state or the regional finals. He took over basically right at the time that houston all of a sudden had 4A AAU teams, and Silsbee was able to play 3 D-1 players at once. HJ has had some good players in his time at HJ, but nothing compared to what Sutherland coached there, and the route to state has been infinitely harder since he took over. The playoff loss this year was really the only bad playoff loss he’s had in his career, and his best player was suspended and two other starters were injured (he’d tell you himself that they still had no excuse losing). Davis may not have a state championship, but he consistently takes decent athletes and builds really good small school basketball teams. He may not be the best coach in the area, but he’s earned the right to be on a list of the best coaches around here. He’s also undoubtedly had the opportunity to move to schools that would give him a better shot of advancing, but has stayed loyal to HJ.1 point

Ok, couple of months before I retired, on way way to work and heard Al Caldwell tell this story on KLVI. Billy Bob was the greatest running back in the history of Texas A&M and College football. He'd set virtually every record possible, and lead them to a National Championship. With his college football over, he had decided he wanted to graduate with a degree, so he visited the Chancellor. Chancellor said, Billy Bob, why the visit? Billy Boy explained his desire for a degree. Chancellor replied, Billy Bob, while you were a wizard at football, your performance in class was less than adequate. I can't do it. Word got around campus, and to the alumni to whom Billy Bob was was like a God. The Chancellor was besieged with request and demands. To Billy Bobs surprise, he was summoned to the Chancellors office. Chancellor told him about the overwhelming support, and had reconsidered. He said, Here's the deal. Saturday, at noon, in the middle of Kyle field, I'll give you a one question quiz. If you answer correctly, you'll get your degree and graduate. Billy Bob was elated. so Sat, at noon, the stage was set. The stands were completely full, and the stadium speakers were hooked up to the microphones. The Chancellor, after praising all in attendance said, ok Billy Bob, here's the question, and take your time, What is three times nine? Billy Bob went deep in thot. His brow was creased. After a minute or so, sweat started flowing down his face. The crowd, feeling empathy for him, started chanting in unison, Hey hey, what'd say, give him a Degree anyway, over and over. Finally, the Chancellor ask for quiet, and told Billy Bob he needed his answer. Billy Bob thot and thot as the murmurs from the crowd increased. All of a sudden, Billy Boys face lit up and he said, I got it. I got it. You could've heard a pin drop. Billy Boy shouted, The answer is 27. Immediately the crowd of 102,000 students and alumni roared in unison, Give him another chance. Give him another chance.1 point
