I remembered that I know Ivan Croak's son Pete. He used to work over here in West Orange. I hadn't been there since 97 or 98. Great to see the upgraded facilities in person. Needs a little more work on the drainage. But hey this is SETX. Vidor showed an improved offense from the scrimmage I saw last season. The qb is small but quick, sneaky at hiding the play. And #40 is a beast for them at nose guard. If he wasn't blocked, he was all over the field. DBs were lost trying to find the ball in the air. And the WOS QB can definitely do that. He is as good as he looks in the highlights. But he got lucky a few times because it was vidor. A more athletic team would make him pay for that. But his timing with the receivers is there already. This is gonna be an explosive offense once they it all together. Gales is great RB and always needs to get more carries. The Mustangs defense has once again shown some suspects. I didnt expect vidor to exploit the weaknesses after halftime. It's only Thursday so they got some time to straighten it out.

Great scrimmage like usual against the Mustangs. They looked good and dominated us pretty much all game. Pirates showed some promise but we have alot to work on, the passes are right in our receivers bread basket almost every time but they got butter fingers. Most of the yardage Vidors ground game came straight up the gut, we had nothing trying to get in the flats and WOS speed showed easily. Good luck the rest of the way Mustangs, I look forward to seeing y'all make another deep playoff run! Our Vidor boys have potential, just gotta clean up some bonehead mistakes. Go Pirates!

Y’all crazy as hell talking about Nederland going to struggle solely based on a scrimmage. I have seen Nederland time and time again be 0-3 1-2 going into district and run the table… let’s address where we might end up in a few weeks. Until then let Monte and company do their work and magic on the kids and the let the kids go to work. PS PAM is probably going to go back to back district champs this year again. I have them at least 3 rounds deep. It’s a great test and grow up session for our dogs. Best of luck to the Titans this year! This bulldog will be rooting for y’all

West Brook is dominating. They took it to PA last week 23-0. As good as the offense is, WB defense is what has impressed me in both scrimmages. Also Langston isn’t putting up with any smack talk or showboating. He shuts it down real fast.

Nobody can do it like The Metroplex when it comes to transfers. Wouldn't mind seeing Kimball taking more from Faith Family though 🙂

I mentioned the drop off in the run game from what we’ve seen the last several years BEFORE last night’s scrimmage. It’s really a shame too, because we have a huge O-Line to run behind. Hopefully, someone will step up. I think the defense is okay but there’s been a few mixups in the secondary. Bottom line to me is this… if we don’t find a reliable run game, then we don’t beat good teams. I certainly classify WOS as a good team.

Not to mention the fact that being able to run 8.5 mph for 7 minutes, has nothing to do with being a good football player. That type of training doesn't make you better in the 4th quarter either. We've learned lots about training since those days.

Based on the excellent posting of Boneyard Boys, I had score at 31-14. We don’t need a FB algorithm to know that was a good old fashion hiney whipping. On the plus side, IF Vidor can learn how to catch a pass, we could be competitive, and getting a whipping from WOS is not shameful. I think the Stangs will be a Force this year, and I’m excited for them.

I'm not too sold on how good wos is just yet, those two scrimmages meant absolutely nothing. Nederland will show to play no matter what. 13 10. Dog fight coming up.

You know some folks take scrimmages too seriously (hell there's one we both know about from PA), happens every year, hopefully both teams got at least somewhat of their agenda done coming into the scrimmage without any injuries going into Week-1. Good luck to Nederland this year as well.

Yep, as long as they continue to improve in the non-district games I’m fine. They usually have everything lined out by district. Just have to keep everyone healthy.

See my friend, that is just the thing - I’m not scared. I serve a risen Savior who’s in the world today. I have not once really fretted, never wore a mask, had the disease (probably twice) and life goes on. I am not an “anti-vaxxer” as I have had all required, and who knows what else administered while I was in the military. I just never thought in my own country would I be asked for “papers” to dine somewhere, see a show or go about daily life. But hey, life will go on and we’ll adjust.

I wouldn't say that Vidor scoring over 30 pts is too far fetched. Don't quote me on my stats but in the past 4 or 5 seasons, Vidor has scored over 30pts 7 times, 40pts 7 times, 50pts 2 times, and 60pts 2 times.

Our main RB, E Gales is a stud, too. Zigler is most effective right where he's at. Catching passes and running it a few times here and there.

I got College Station taking 8-5A D1. They get Magnolia at home this year.

Gales went 50yds on a screen.few nice runs.but he threw up a couple of times.stayed in there though.#10 judge had a pretty gud game.had abt 85yds receiving and a td.and ziegler was ziegler.#15 brown had a few nice grabs.as long as they continue to spread it around.they will be a problem.

Was behind a car the other day that had a “Do not text and drive” sticker in her back window. Pulled along side of her and she was texting. I guess that sticker only applies to those who are reading it.

#5 ziegler is the backup QB.they will have him doing a little everything.

I believe he is in now #16. Made sum nice runs & has completed a few short/mid range passes. Looks more accurate & stronger arm. #8 is in at rb for PA about 5’8” & stocky is very quick & elusive. PA driving to start 2nd half at Ned 30 with 7:25 left in 3rd

Man those nachos were good, really hit the spot. I can never resist the nachos at a football game, there’s just something about it. WOS converted a 4th and 1 at midfield, moving into Vidor territory.

0-0 after 1st quarter Nederland throws interception on their 1st drive. Only play working is 5 wide & qb scramble for positive yards.Ned offense has no positive yards from running backs. Ned defensive front 7 doing well. Secondary gave up 1 deep completion. PA fumbles handoff exchange on Ned 1yd line. PA offense struggling to get any run game established, a few short completions & 1 long completion. PA QB is not live so no threat of him running. PA defense looks solid overall.

12-0-1, semifinal game vs San Marcos was tied 21-21, but the Rattlers advanced to play Palestine in the championship game with a 5-4 edge in penetrations. Second tie breaker was first downs and the third was total yardage. Vidor had a significant advantage in both of those. The 2011 Montana Quirante led team would be a close second IMO.

The problem with max preps is not every game gets posted. Actual records of HJ under Davis: 14-15: 28-8 15-16: 26-9 16-17: 24-14 17-18: 31-10 18-19: 28-10 19-20: 27-12 20-21: 20-6 (no tournaments) district record during that span: 65-11 (includes 4 district champ/co-champ and 3 district runner ups)

So have you heard of a Coach by the name of Andre Boutte? Has more state titles than anyone on your list and TWICE as many state tournament appearances than many on your list of "best SETX has to offer". And to criticize Joubert by saying all he wins with is talent, is quite possibly the dumbest statement on this thread. I think you should re-think your statement.
