My dad really liked him and loved to tell a story that was I’m sure a “stock” one for Jan. He would tell people about a game where he was so bad he couldn’t make anything. He said he was so mad after his 4th missed FG, he went to kick the bench and was lucky he didn’t break his foot. Because, as he would tell it, he was so bad that day he missed that too. 😂

I don't think that they would play locally. They would meet in the Regional Finals which I believe is played in Katy. I may be wrong on the location though.

Many playing back then had other jobs. Playing hurt meant you got paid. Winning meant more then you can be on a 1-13 team now and still make millions. There are many great athletes in the game now but it’s mostly athletic celebrities entertaining just for the dollar bill. my grandfather played when there was no face mask. Played on the oline…..many broken noses to the point it was crooked the rest of his life. You were either tough or you got cut back then.

On their website, there is only two games listed for them to stream tonight. Irion County/Balmorhea and Kingwood Park/Katy Paetow. [Hidden Content] There has been a lot of spam on Twitter and other social media sites claiming to broadcast games. I believe this is one of those cases. Dayton ISD has not been contacted from any broadcast entity.

Silsbee will have to really take care of the ball. WOS got rolled 16 - 2 in the first first few minutes in a run that was in no way indicative of the way the two teams matched up. The score at half time and the final score were proof of that. The Tigers need to be ready from the tipoff.

Teams had to change some of their favorite plays because of Butkus. When asked why he hit so hard, Butkus said he didn’t want the player to have to get up and look to see what numbered jersey tackled him……he wanted him to already know it was Butkus. Butkus would also call QB cadence and was known for spitting on the football while the center was about to snap it. He was one-of-a kind. This is from memory before watching this video.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a potus that put America first! I actually voted for Cruz in the primaries. Of course when Trump became the Republican candidate it was a no brainer to vote for him over Hillary. I never took Trump serious until he got into office an started putting America First in his decision’s. After the first year I started thinking he could end up being the Best President ever in my lifetime. An in my opinion I believe he is the best president we had in the last 50 years. Just a Reminder…..Trump Won his Re-election. You’ll never convince me otherwise.

Athletes on par with most in the state , but let’s be honest BISD doesn’t do what it takes to keep or attract great coaches… BISD made this a “stepping stone” job , while It should be a dream job. With the Athletes, history, recruiting location, etc, coaches should be knocking down the door but instead you got a school like 6A WB who went to State but the coach left for a 4A LCM, or back in 2009 When Coach Stowers took a Central team 4 rounds and had a team just as good coming back but left for a DFW job. . Think about those Stump coached WB teams, Is never been about the athletes, They’re going to be there, is everything else. So while I hate coach Graham did that, and is really bad for the kids, can you blame him??? Yea it might not be a bottom tier job as far as athleticism is concerned but unfortunately is more than that.

Nah, I doubt it. A job is what you make of it. Apparently, that’s the rumor that’s been put into everyone’s ear…. That the BU job is bottom tier. But the fact of the matter is that coaches in BISD has access to pretty good resources and have access to some fine athletes as well. And the pay is on par with pay from multi HS districts (no AD title). But folks know this coming in the door, but it ends up being a problem later. 🤷🏾‍♂️ At the end of the day, I’m glad ok dude is gone and it’s done early. Plenty of time to get someone in so he can hire a staff, all before spring football…
