    My apologies

I apologize for posting today's regional final game threads so early. Today is opening ceremonies at Silsbee Little League at 9am and I have a very important Tee Ball game to attend at 11:30am. Grandson's first ever Tee Ball game. I should be back by 2pm to help update the games for today.

  3. Do I think playing Silsbee as your second game in less than 20 hours, and having them run you harder than pretty much any team has made you run all year might tire a team out? Yeah, I do.

    Can Beto Win?

Rather scary post. Texas & Florida are the “must have” States for conservatives. If either fall, especially Texas, it’s all over. I’ve often wondered why conservatives resist marijuana legalization, since conservatives are for personal freedoms. We ordinarily think that everyone has the freedom to control their lives. But when it comes to legalizing gambling or marijuana, as a group we’re against it. Makes no sense to me. The Republicans could/should nip this in the bud now by coming out for the legalization of MJ themselves, if only medically. If not, you can bet the Looney Left will come out in full force, and with some conservatives not happy with Abbott, and a few that might change their votes because of MJ, it will be to close for comfort. I’m borderline ultra right. I think Trump’s positive aspects were everything we look for in a President. I’m also for MJ legalization, but will not, no way Jose, vote for Beto over that issue. As for the potential problems associated with legalizing MJ, I’d think that one would only have to research what has happened in other States who have legalized it. California has refineries - what problems have they confronted? We’ve discussed the potential negatives of MJ, but not the positives. Medically, there are several, and not legalizing it for prescription is a dunce move if I’ve ever seen one. Good grief, you can get fentanyl administer by a doctor but not MJ? That’s freaking ridiculous. MJ is not the boogeyman as it’s been portrayed. Although I’ve never used it, common sense tells me there’s a minimum of 10 prescription pain killers more dangerous than MJ. What do we need to do? Contact our local representatives and encourage them to legalize MJ, at least for medicinal purposes. Nip this issue in the bud. It’s all the Dems have, and not worth losing our State and Country over.

  11. I was around when Walkoviak was hired. In no time at all, it was clear to everyone that he was on a whole other level than most coaches. Before his arrival, Jasper was content to contend for District once every five or so years when the talent would peak. Walkoviak changed that mindset immediately to expect to contend EVERY year. And Jasper did. I am expecting no less from Crumedy.

With the Ukraine situation, now is not the right time for any candidate to talk about taking our guns. Might be an election killer. My wife often shares crazy stories with concern going on around the country and I tell her we don’t have worry about that, we live in Texas. If Beto were to get elected, that would change everything.

  19. That Tiger 3rd quarter we've seen so many times this year made the difference. Got to work on that free throw shooting though.

  30. I will not argue with your time tested analytics as I have not studied the metric like you have. However, I will just hope that Silsbee has some SMRJs in their bag to offset their disadvantage in the dunk department..

  31. It looks that way, don’t it? The two teams with the best records playing the last game. Maybe not?

  32. The Tigers of Bush/McCain/Adams period were pretty good at getting the opponents posts in foul trouble, especially in the postseason play. One year they did it against Yates in the Region final and then again against Brazosport in the championship game. Some of that would be real handy right about now. Thing is we'll have to actually foul McDurmott out. They won't sit him down with even 4 fouls.

That’s true if it’s a post accident drug screen. If it’s a random and you have a legal current prescription (and the levels aren’t over the top), you will usually be ok.

They won’t hold up. Plants that could have a serious accident if someone is impaired while at work won’t quit random testing just because some dopey politicians say it’s legal. Sad that this is such a motivator for so many to get out and vote.

  40. Let me start with this. I personally don't know Thorton in any shape, format or fashion(that I an aware of). Can't tell ya if he/she has been to one, every or any Jasper Bulldogs football games. I do know Thorton has made some positive and supportive post on Jasper threads and the one particular post you quoted then responded with a confrontational tone was/is a fair reasonable post. Cause I am gonna tell ya right here and now Jasper fans including myself at sometime wondered the same thing. You know why? for the very reasons you named. The words clout, success, and tradition . I even said myself that when your last name is synonymous with a coaching legend it helps in regards to getting jobs. to think otherwise is foolish. Yes,Darrell had above .500 success before he got to Jasper and had earned his own way. While here he won alot of games and stayed in line with the winning tradition synonymous (I noticed you like that word) associated with the Barbay name. Tradition, success, by default brings with it EXPECTATIONS! Four out of 10 seasons Darrell coached here in Jasper he had the young men to go farther than the 3rd of playoffs '13,'14,17, and 18(BTW, the Silver&Blue ended two of those seasons). Myself,(and to make it clear don't let my current ID fool ya, I have been around this forum a pretty good while. I used to be JasperDAWG but I broke some rules and was shunned for a period) and the handful of true Jasper fans who regularly post here have NEVER bashed Barbay if anyone come close it was probably me. Have we questioned some things he did, of course. Just like fans of WOS did to Coach T and that man did nothing but in 11 short years as Coach there put together a hall of fame career. Since Darrell left, and I remind you he left on his own on a Thursday to take a job and start the Tuesday following. Yet, us Jasper posters [or maybe nit wits as you say] have made a point publicly to wish him well. after this past season where in 3 games (so badly that other teams fans said they felt bad for our players) Darell Barbay basically conceded games. I had mentioned he looked like a coach trying to get season over with so he could retire Then look what happened. So all the Barbay family tree you spoke of and the success. Guess what? the Barbay member we experienced has a third round ceiling, conceded games(so it appeared in multiple seasons), and then leaves our kids(yes we parents as well) on what 4-5 days notice. None of which are synonymous with the Barbay name. So how and/or why come November(ironically the month Darrell could NOT get us passed) will you be telling us " I told ya so" ?

  41. Yes this exactly. I wish the new regime all the luck in the world. But what we lost will never be replaced. In 2-3 years we will know.
    1 point
  42. An awful lot of folks have no idea what we lost with his retirement. They are about to find out. His imprint was on that program LONG before he "officially" took the reins. Irreplaceable.

  43. I agree with you. I wasn't in Jasper yet when Coach Walkoviak was hired, but he was really young (29) when he got the job and hadn't been in coaching long. He obviously did more there than anyone ever thought he would in 1977. Anyway, Coach Crumedy was going to get a shot somewhere eventually and I'm happy that he's coming home. This is great for everyone involved.
