  3. Lol…. Read my post, I didn’t say parents need to support there kids I said fans need to support their kids. This is about the kids an no one else. All of these kids are playing amateur high school sports. It’s nothing more than that. Its not the kids fault if people in leadership positions didn’t properly do their do diligence to put the MOST QUALIFIED people In coaching positions.

  6. They do elections differently with a coalition, but he likely new. Prime Minister of Italy is the first woman ever, Giorgia Meloni. This was not her acceptance speech but listen to her words. Parts of it, why is the family an enemy…… everything that defines us is now the enemy…. they have attacked our gender, our religion , have attacked our families…. I can’t define myself as Italian, Christian, woman, mother. No! She ends with a partial quote from G. K. Chesterton who died in the 1930s.. She cut it short but it is: “We shall soon be in a world in which a man may be howled down for saying that two and two make four, in which furious party cries will be raised against anybody who says that cows have horns, in which people will persecute the heresy of calling a triangle a three-sided figure, and hang a man for maddening mob with the news that grass is green”. How prophetic…

    Coach Bashing

Coach bashing is done by morons that think they know more than they do because they sit in front of a TV for most college/pro games.. in turn making them believe that their knowledge supersedes the individuals that actually spend a majority of their week preparing, practice planning, studying game film, talking amongst actual peers/professionals in the field of coaching, facilitating practices, managing student/athletes on and off the field, juggling students' mental/psychological issues, holding students accountable for good/bad play and classroom behavioral circumstances, along with a limitless list of other dealings that go into what affects decisions made during a game.. while trying to win said game. Coach bashing is also done by people that would've played D1 "but their coach didn't like them". It probably had nothing to do with them being a below average player at an average (at best) high school with average to below average competition. I'm sure that people who bash coaches spend some time coaching peewee and telling the kids/parents that they were All-State when they played and had chances to go pro but got hurt. I'm sure that people who bash coaches couldn't do 10 pushups today or run 100 yards in an afternoon. Change my mind.

A good friend of mine is a policeman investigator working in theft division (in another state, not Texas). He told me that one morning his first 3 phone calls of the day were a woman telling him that she could do his job better than him, a guy that told him he would have him fired by noon, and another guy that had been convicted of stealing that wanted the stolen property, saying he had served his sentence and paid his fine, so the stolen property should rightly be his. My policeman friend was telling this to a friend who happens to be a local HS coach, and the coach just nodded, smiled and said "well at least your job success doesn't depend on 16 year old kids".

    WOS vs Liberty

This is so true. I always felt that CT and his staff did their best coaching job in 2018. Remember that was right after 4 straight trips to Dallas. The talent level seemed to have dropped that year and at one point the Mustangs were 2-3 just like this year. But even though they were struggling early you could tell there was improvement each week. They ended up winning district and going 4 rounds deep. I still think without the monsoon they played Silsbee in, they would have won that game and advanced to the semifinal. But that’s an argument that’s already been hashed over many times so no need to go over that again. Point is even with talent level not as high as normal the coaching staff that year did an outstanding job of getting the kids ready, coaching them up and putting them in situations where they could be the most successful.

Some criticism is fine, just not the constant bashing and making it personal. When every post a particular member makes is about bashing a coach, it's gone too far for that member. The posting of the video is a prime example of coach bashing. Folks have to understand the website side of this. We have to have good relationships with our local coaches. Those relationships are important to the success of this website.

I agree completely about student athletes NOT being called out. They’re kids. I’ll abide by the rule about coaches, but it’s dumb. If a man wants to take on the role of coaching with all of its financial rewards, prestige, power, etc… and expects to bask in the glory and praise after wins, he/she should have to face the criticism when it comes. There’s a big difference between criticizing a kid who threw a pick versus criticizing a highly paid professional who made a questionable play call, or is even having problems after deciding to install a new philosophy despite the old one being pretty doggone effective. Should people stick “for sale” signs in his yard? Absolutely not. But should that man be spared from any form of criticism, too? I don’t think so.

  13. Let me just chime in and give some insight from someone from SS. Last year's record and this year's record are somewhat deceiving. Last year our first seven opponents, through the first seven weeks, had a combined record of 44-5. Two teams from last year are now in 6A, two more are in 5A D1, and two that are still in 5A D2 were top 10 teams. We were so beat down that by the time we got to some winnable games the kids were done and the coaches had one foot out the door. It was just a bad situation. This year we dropped to 4A. A softer schedule has as much to do with the turn around as the new coaching staff. It's a whole lot easier to win when you're one of the big schools in the class instead of the other way around. We were going to be better this year regardless of who the coach was. That being said, Faircloth is awesome. He is exactly what we needed. He's brought a new attitude, new energy, built confidence after being beaten down the last few years. The old coach was a great guy, won a state championship here, but he'd been here 13 years and it had ran it's course. It was time for a change and everyone knew it. Oh yea, one more thing, we play defense now, 15 ppg. So all the talk about Faircloth being strictly about the offense doesn't seem to apply here, at least not yet. We've never played defense here. Even the state championship game we won the score was 69-49, so we're not used to this. Faircloth is a smart guy, and I think he chose to come here for a reason. What most people on the outside may not know is the talent at our lower levels is absolutely loaded. JV is pretty good, but it's the Freshman that has everyone here buzzing. They've never lost a game and have outscored their opponents this year 174-14, and that's with two of the best freshmen starting on varsity. I had a retired coach who coached at the 5a/4a level tell me he has never seen a class this talented at any school he coached at or coached against. They are special. It really seems like the perfect combination of talent and coaching coming together at the right time to do something special. So, if you want to peek into the future, I can see Faircloth winning a state championship here in two or three years, or at least coming close. Then after that I would think he would have his pick of high profile jobs if he were looking to move up. I don't see him leaving any sooner than that with this much talent on the way. As for this year I'll stick with my prediction I made before the season. 9-3, 2nd place in district, two rounds deep in the playoffs.

    Coach Bashing

This season, more so than any other that I can remember in my 15 or so years on SETXsports, we're having a major problem with multiple posters from multiple teams continually bashing, criticizing, and insulting various area coaches. Moderators have had to post the no coach-bashing rule in multiple threads that have gone off the rails due to complaints about coaching. There are ways to express yourself without violating this rule. If you can't find a way to do so, I'd suggest avoiding the topic completely. I don't care if WOS goes 2-8, if Vidor runs the ball up the middle 200 times in a row, or if Hull-Daisetta doesn't listen to the experts and mismanages the clock while calling the wrong plays. Anyone who violates this rule during the remainder of the season is receiving an immediate one-week ban. Violations are decided by moderator discretion. If you continue to violate the rule once you return you will be banned permanently. If you're about to make a post about coaching, but you're not sure if it's okay, don't make it. Save your opinion for facebook, or better yet, go to the game and scream it in the stands with the other coaching experts. It's important to remember that while our site encourages healthy discussion, we demand an atmosphere of respect towards our local players, coaches, and communities, no matter your opinion of their performance.. Please remember that this post is your free warning. Any questions about this rule, or about a post you'd like to make, may be sent to myself or other moderators in private message for clarification without repercussions. Below, for the fiftieth time, is the rule that so many of you continue to violate. Thank you, and happy posting. 18 ) The bashing of any particular coach, player, referee, etc will not be tolerated. This includes issues involving their personal lives, coaching/playing style or performance, past experiences, etc.

  15. We rarely say anything about the boys in the stripes, except maybe they are blind😉. I would like to bring up something though, in 1958 my uncle Beau Hicks joined the Southwest Officials Association, the precursor to todays Texas Association of Sports Officials, he served as Secretary, I believe President for a while, refereed in both High School and College games as well as ending his career as a recruiter for officials for the NFL. A few years after Uncle Beau started my dad, Wayne Hicks, joined as well, both of them served in virtually every position on the field as well as officiating basketball for awhile which I remember was not my dads' favorite. About 20 years after my Uncle joined my middle brother BJ Hicks joined TASO and has officiated just about every position on the field along with becoming one of the few caucasian officlas in SWAC for a few years. One of my cousins also tried it for awhile but didn't like it. Both my dad and my uncle have passed on leaving the legacy to my brother and this year will be my brothers' last year after close to 45 years running up and down the fields with all the young men. It seems odd to me knowing there will no longer be a Hicks out on that field but I would like to let you guys know that they all served with honesty and integrity. It takes a special man to give his time and his money (they pay yearly dues) and I have been lucky enough to have been related to several of them.

    WOS vs Liberty

Lol I knew someone from Silsbee would comment on that statement. I just think the weather bothered us more than yall that night. Just my opinion and everyone has them. It’s all good though, y’all won and that’s that. But as far as being better than our record indicates, well I don’t know about that. We beat a very bad Nederland team and barely got by LCM. We could easily be 1-4 right now. Good luck to Silsbee the rest of the way, I’ll be supporting y’all come playoff time. Unless we meet up again! Lol

They absolutely should face even harsh criticism. People should start petitions, play jokes like for sale signs, complain to the school board or anything else that is legal. Who has ever suggested otherwise? That is a ridiculous accusation. Also, criticism is allowed, bashing is not But like Clint Eastwood said in Gran Torino, “Get off my lawn! This is a voluntary family site. Feel free to do anything elsewhere as the coaches are public figures…. just not on the setxsports lawn.

  34. You obviously don’t know how Twitter works. Pho-Realizzle did not write the article, PJ Media did. Anyone can post News Articles on Twitter. You probably didn’t even open up the article to read it. The Obama Foundation stored classified documents in an abandoned furniture warehouse, according to a 2018 letter from the Obama Foundation to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The letter, available on the Obama Foundation website and dated Sept. 11, 2018, reveals that the Obama Foundation not only acknowledged possessing classified documents but also admitted that they kept them in a facility that did not meet NARA standards for the storage of those documents. The Obama Foundation agreés to transfer up to three million three hundred thousand dollars ($3,300,000) to the National Archives Trust Fund (NATF) to support the move of classified and unclassified Obama Presidential records and artifacts from Hoffman Estates to NARA-controlled facilities that conform to the agency’s archival storage standards for such records and artifacts, and for the modification of such spaces. The first transfer of $300,000 was already made on August 9, 2018. An additional interim transfer will be made within 180 days of that date. Subsequent payments are subject to the negotiation of terms of the digitization process and museum operations. Media reports confirm that the Obama Foundation had rented space from Hoffman Estates to store these documents, and extended their original lease for four more years back in August. “While no firm date has been announced for the completion and opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Library near the University of Chicago, its future contents will stay in Hoffman Estates for four more years,” the Daily Herald reported. “Village board members unanimously approved an extension to the special-use permit that enables landlord Hoffman Estates Medical Development LLC to lease the 74,200-square-foot former Plunkett Furniture store at 2500 W. Golf Road to the National Archives and Records Administration through Dec. 31, 2026.” 5. The complete terms and conditions of the digitization project, along with the terms on which NARA will make the resulting digital files and corresponding metadata available to the Foundation, will be the subject of a separate agreement. 6. The Obama Foundation and NARA agree to work collaboratively and in good faith to explore, develop, and implement strategies to facilitate broad public access to unclassified born-digital materials in as timely a manner as possible, 7. The Obama Foundation agrees to transfer up to three million three hundred thousand dollars ($3,300,000) to the National Archives Trust Fund (NATF) to support the move of classified and unclassified Obama Presidential records and artifacts from Hoffman Estates to NARA-controlled facilities that conform to the agency's archival storage standards for such records and artifacts, and for the modification of such spaces. The first transfer of $300,000 was already made on August 9, 2018. An additional interim transfer will be made within 180 days of that date. Subsequent payments are subject to the negotiation of terms of the digitization process and museum operations. 8. NARA agrees to loan Obama Presidential records and artifacts and other NARA holdings, including but not limited to textual records, physical artifacts, and audio-visual materials such as archival footage, sound recordings, and high resolution digital assets, to the Obama Foundation on an ongoing basis for exhibition at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, Illinois, and to work with the Foundation in doing so. So Bro….Pho Realizzle or Twitter didn’t write the news article. I’ll repeat it again , Twitter is a platform not a news organization.

I'd say having top tier coaches as his dad and grandpa, who have raised him in field houses since his infancy has a little something to do with 5s ability.

  45. regardless of what people may think KT was an absolute monster for us during the 97 & 98 WOS football seasons. He was the back up QB as well but Cornel used his heart & determination to be a hybrid at the Rover End in the 50 defense (which is basically a defensive back in a nickel package/defense). He was a unanimous AllState selection despite his stature. I remain quiet on alot that's spoken here because much of what some of you say isn't worth a wet roll of toilet paper. Lol But I will say this - my main gripe was "be careful what you ask for" when there became an outcry to run CT out of town. Now kids can't even line up properly, at times looking completely lost as if they aren't even coached up in practice. I'm baffled how all of a sudden the WOS defense cant tackle, defend the deep ball, or control the line of scrimmage on either side.
