  2. Charter school. I think they should have to play highest classification because they are able to draw from a much broader landscape than a regular ISD. Kind of like Strake Jesuit, who petitioned to play UIL but in order to do that they had to agree to play 6A. Jesuit doesn't nearly have a 6A enrollment.

  3. No complaing because it's definitely a scientific based approach. Take ANY person in the world and train a muscle or group of muscles to the point concentric muscle contraction is impossible, eccentric contraction is failing easily, and do it over and over and over...HOSPITALIZATION is happening soon. Even an elite athlete from North Shore or the University of Oregon.

  4. [Hidden Content] Exercise physiology matters!! Tough, not tough, whatever you want to argue....if you are going to work athletes extremely hard there is a process that must be undertaken to prepare the body. I know nothing of the strength and conditioning program at the high schools mentioned in this thread, but it's quite obvious that the "punishment" administered was not physiologically sound. The Oregon situation from several years back that I linked here should be all any coach needs to know that there must be progression to go to "extremes" without detrimental effects.

  7. This is a dumb proposal. This guy graduated from Permian, who usually beats the El Paso champ but can't get passed the winner of district 3 and or 4. He's just trying to get mojo back to state but how about self improvement on Permian's part vs you rigging the system to favor Permian. Just plain dump on his part

  12. Thats a good question. Probably would have to take another look at all that info and reassess everything. Of the top of my head WOS might not make top 5 again. But like I said I'd have to look at all the numbers.

  13. It only took a few months of concealed carry to notice myself going to places or stoping at places I normally wouldn't without a gun. The caution or fear I would of had to make me reconsider was erased by the fact I had a gun. Once I realized what I was doing I stopped. I was putting myself in situations that legally were OK, but still risky at best......because my worse fear is actually having to shoot someone. I quoted that statement because that should be in a movie, not in real life.

  15. Oh yeah, if you are talking about an off duty officer in Orange (not to re-litigate that case), I read the something like 20+ witness statements and a majority (all but a couple) say that it was more than words. Also, as the topic of this thread about complying, the officer in Orange was cleared most likely due to those witness statements. Just like the false claims (completely bogus) of Michael Brown and “hands up, don’t shoot”… complying in 99.999% (probably more) of cases will keep a person alive.

  16. Which goes to the OP. Do what you are told. In this video the officer was polite and professional for quite a while. The guy should have simply complied. He refused and then resisted arrest. The Facebook, YouTube, Google lawyers get people killed. That is why I posted Supreme Court cases. When the Supreme Court looks at a man having a diabetic crisis and the cops kind of kick the crap out of him (and I think broke his foot) and unanimously say… oh well, he should have complied!….. people should heed that warning.

  17. This is also true. "Some" and "usually" are hard to argue against. But as the original post stated, better to fight in the court room with paper and pen than against the guy with a rifle around his body. I've not seen a defendant approach the bench and be gunned down in front of a jury. I have seen off duty officer shoot a man dead in the chest at point blank range for words. Words, not actions. I still believe the majority of officers have the best intentions. Some just have a bad day, or attitude, or any number of other things that could affect the spilt-second decision to end a life with one squeeze of the trigger. Once again, a judge with a grudge has never been charged with murder because of actions inside their courtroom. I could be wrong, but it's more common on the streets.

  22. So far, the end of regular season rankings are holding up pretty well. The three championship game match ups: 1A #1 vs. #2 3A #2 vs. #5 5A #1 vs. #2 I predict in 6A a #1 vs. #2 final, 4A a #1 vs. #4 and 2A a #1 vs. #2.

  30. On the use of force, according to SCOTUS it doesn’t matter what the totality of circumstances are when determining if an officer was justified in any use of force situation. In other words it doesn’t matter what actually happened but it matters what a reasonable officer would believe at that moment. It is the term “objective reasonableness”. An officer has to make a split second decision and what a situation reasonably appeared to be matters. If it later turned out to be incorrect, the officer will still likely be cleared. In the main case (Graham)the police kind of roughed up a guy who turned out to be completely innocent and in fact was having a medical crisis. The SCOTUS ruled 9-0 that what was later (like a few moments later) discovered didn’t matter, only what a reasonable officer would believe.

  35. Yes, I am good at math. Do you realize that the peaceful clips are just as important for forming an opinion as the violent clips? Do you understand that the American people are being duped if not shown the entire arena? It’s something that should be worrisome to everyone. The Dems track record against Trump is a train wreck. How anyone could believe anything they say is simply amazing. This was nothing more than a last gasp against Trump by Pelosi and Schumer and Co.

  36. It's hilarious to me. The Orangefield Coach/Team was emphatically congratulated on the season they had... while running the Slot-T. Coincidentally, the predicted front runner and spread team of the district (Anahuac).. had their season ended by eventual state champ and another Slot-T team (Franklin). It's almost as if people don't realize the irony.
    1 point
  37. Sarcasm understood, Mine was continuing the sarcasm. Agree with you 100%. The Slot T clearly works as do most systems when run and executed correctly.

  38. How can u not root for a team called Benjamin? Lol
    1 point
  39. I was being facetious. Coincidentally.. I like the Slot-T. I also like the spread.. and I like most offensive schemes when ran successfully. None of them are designed to fail. No coach says, "We're going to run this offense.. and hope for a few yards or even getting back to the line of scrimmage. And if not, we'll just punt and try again next drive." They're all designed to lead into substantial gains.. Having said that, the slot-t isn't good for playing catchup. So when you need quick scores or to make up ground, it's not good. But, the slot-t wins state titles every year. Hard to say it isn't effective. I like to think coaches do what they feel puts the team in the best situation to win games based on either their personnel or knowledge.

  42. more like ignorant coaches. kids today are soft, no argument there, but putting them in the hospital isn't how you fix it. if a coach makes kids do work that they physically are incapable of doing and badly hurts them, that's on the coach, not the kid or parent. it's the coach's responsibility to build up the child's ability to do the work. Of course, these coaches seem to understand that concept just fine until they're mad and want to punish the kids for something. That was the case here, and also at Hamshire-Fannett a few years ago. The coaches get pissed, and then all of a sudden they forget that it's their responsibility to keep their athletes safe. Work them to the point of hospitalization, then play dumb and act like they didn't do anything wrong. Your reference to North Shore doesn't really work, because North Shore isn't putting their players in the hospital. If they did, there would be plenty of complaints. That said, it's not an issue. while those coaches work their players very hard, they do it responsibly, unlike the coach here from Rockwall Heath.

  45. Some of y’all told me this group was going to be as good or better than the Adams, McCain, Bush group. I found that hard to believe. Results aside, that has never passed the eye test with me. Thought it was unfair to this group to put that type of weight on their shoulders. Still do. Really good bunch who still has one more year to leave their mark and I hope they do. But as I said when they were coming in as freshman. Really good group of kids but let’s slow our roll. They aren’t THAT. Conversely, we did have a group that does meet or surpass that group. And they are COACHED by a Silsbee guy. Go get that three peat Wolves!
