Again, I said the play was wrong and I DO consider it a cheap shot. Just explaining as to why the ref didn't throw the flag. The play was still going on and the QB was at that point a potential blocker. How else can you explain why the ref that stood not even 5 feet from the play and looked right at it didn't throw the flag? It was probably what the ref told the Jasper coach when he was on the field.

Read my above post for a 2nd clarification...

Read the whole post. I said the play was wrong and uncalled for. Just point out why the ref probably didn't throw the flag...

My first time seeing the video and I missed that part of the play initially when it happened... I have an explanation of why the ref probably didn't throw the flag. #5 was hit while the play was going on. It was a handoff, so the QB wasn't a QB at that point. Technically, he was a potential blocker. Ref looked right at it. Technically, the play was wrong, but ref probably thought it was legal. I consider it around the same situation when a QB throws and interception. Most coaches tell their QB's when they throw an interception to either get to the sidelines or just lay down to prevent yourself from being a target. Because we all know that in that play, the QB could be the difference in a pick 6 in that situation... Back to the play in question. I believe had Silsbee's #23 had hit #5 the same way an instant after the handoff, we wouldn't even be talking about this.

Wasn't shouting. I created the message on an email and copied and pasted. Format changed a little. I thought shouting was when it's in all Caps..

Good ones. Lol

The other one was a late hit on the sidelines and they threw the flag like they were supposed to. but I don't think there was a malicious intent...

So the Jasper QB was into something when he was pointing at one of the Silsbee players while being escorted off the field. I didn't see exactly what happened..

I'm definitely on the Collins bandwagon now. Kid did great. Not bad in a huge rivalry game...

Congrats on the win, MECCA. Didn't think it would be this close, but whatever. I know one thing. MECCA seem to have issues on defense that needs to be addressed before playoffs. It would be good enough to win district because apparently no one in that district are playing defense this year. Way to make them sweat, Ant Mound!

Barnes got dinged up, but it was probably cramps. He came back in some plays later and seemed ok.

I had this discussion with fans in the stands. They punted several times. And faked a punt once. I told the nearby fans, it just does something to you when you see the fastest kid in the state standing there ready to return the punt. I was like, it makes me want to take my chances fake punting all night. It's probably why there were many squib kicks and short kicks on kickoffs.

How many yards did H-F's White finish with? -
For some reason, I had no cell service in Jasper so I couldn't post. Anywho... Very good game. I saw some good improvements in this game. We found out that Collins is a better runner than we all thought... He gashed up the defense and looked not too bad passing the ball. I assume he just needed to get the first game jitters out of the way. Ending the first half and beginning the 3rd quarter, Jasper had all the momentum. They marched down and scored the TD on opening drive of the third quarter... I thought they were dead in the water. Then out of nowhere, the Tiger Defense woke up, started on some hard hits, then things got chippy, enough so that Jasper's QB was slow to get up. Then he rose to his feet and appeared to start chirping with #54 for Silsbee. I don't know. If the Jasper QB Sells was hurt or was ejected for some reason, but he never returned. Silsbee's defense pitched a shutout from that point with hard hits and defended passes. Seem to spark the offense too. 4th quarter, Silsbee had a few chances to put it away, but too conservative with those stretch plays again, which Jasper was stopping. Once again, the defense saved the day and flexed the or muscles. Jasper is good and will win their district and make a deep playoff run. If Silsbee's defense shows up like this every night, they'll win district and make a deeper playoff run. P.S. Shout out to #23 for Silsbee on assisting with that huge QB sack close to the end of the game.

Ohh, he had some wheels when he did take off. ...he wasn't too shabby on the relay team in track either (Jones).

I think Badsanta meant he's not mobile compared to the Silsbee QB's of recent history. P. Reed, D. Thomas, W. Jones III, Ect...

Naw. No prob. That game burned me up pretty good, but I do support the coach and kids , especially how they turned it around after last year started looking bleek. Collins didn't look any worse than Jones last year in his first couple of games. I'm just looking for progression for next game...

Interesting, considering they (Jasper) were pretty darn good last year as well with basically the same key players from last year...
