Actually the Indians have gotten all the respect. New coach from a none playoff team in the previous year got early respect to turn around in district... Then they play a challenging 4A schedule and jump into the top fifteen. The Jags play a challenging 5A schedule and still are not really noticed. I have only seen one major poll with the Jags in the top twentyfive. PNG has all the respect, Jags have none... But who cares... Respect is earned not given.
Yes. Memorial and Galveston Ball are 5a teams that have punched their playoff tickets.
How could you possibly think Central is disrespected, the Beaumont Enterprise has you ranked 2nd. That's one spot ahead of your only lose, Westbrook. That also puts you behind your second lose, #1PNG. See you at the Babe - An Indians win be the last thing your score board ever shows.
What's that other Jag poster's signature? 'Pain, suffering, and humiliation for 4 quarters. Let's do it to 'em, Jags'. Wow! Sounds like what we did to "em" (Indians) last year. ;D ;D

Soulja, this chip you are carrying on your shoulders for your Jags is getting pretty big. Every team has it's naysayers. If any team around here has a gripe about not getting any respect, it should be PNG. Most folks, including myself, had them not making the playoffs this season.
I was picking with you AAW for the last few weeks on you picking against Central. It's really no big chip on my shoulder. That's why you see me on several threads that talk about rankings and why Central is so low. I'll respond with 'No Comment'. Because us Jag fans along with our players are used to it. You know, like last year when we were picked against our whole playoff venture last year. I'm in reference that make comments like 'well, they are fast, but have no discipline'. I have asked several times what that meant and never got a response. The point of this thread is for the doubters to eat their words.
I'm not understanding what you mean by me picking against the Jags the last few weeks. The last time I picked against the Jags was when the played Vidor in the opening district game. Since then (5 weeks now) I have taken the Jags to win in their games. Soulja, please explain what you are meaning by that statement.
I guess I was bent on giving you a hard time for picking Vidor over us. That's why I gave you a hard time at Hamburger Depot and in the Monday show as well. Just picking on ya.

Ozen do have talent and speed to burn. If they have it made up that they will stop your running game, guess what? You won't have much success. I think you neeed to put it in the air to pull this one out.
BMTSoulja1, I don't see where you are coming from. Since the epic game with Vidor at the start of district, the folks on this board (the knowledgeable posters) have sat up and paid attention. I believe that the statewide publications initially didn't give much credence to Central due to the coaching swap and most of the letterman graduating. There are a few homers on this board that wanna talk smack, but that doesn't carry much weight. I believe Central and PNG will make some noise in the postseason. I'm looking forward to seeing y'all on the last game to wrap up district.
thats why I said 'they know who they are. Its like.... when they say Central, they say speed this and speed that. The new coach Washington have done a great Job and have won the coaching battle in every game we have played thus far. My rant is 85% on the media. There was a few posters that slide their sly remarks in when they can...
Guess I shouldn't forget Central though. PN-G still has the Jags to contend with. Sorry bmtsoulja1 (ha). Should be a great game when the two meet. What a way to end the season. Would love to see it but I'll be heading to Kville/Newton that week.
8) 8) -
I personally have not said anything negative about Central. I think anyone who may have doubted their success this year, would have been due to losing so many players and having a new coach. Generally, these two things thrown together mean big changes and brings on some chaos. I'm happy for Central. Who is this thread directed towards?
Directed to the 'Experts' in the media and also a few posters with sour grapes that called last year's run a 'fluke', along with other assinine comments....

No one shows this area respect, let alone Central, an inner city school. That houston area dog us every chance they get. A couple of years ago, we played Houston Sterling and lost 42-37 (42-7 at halftime I believe). I went to one of the radio station's website and they had the final score of 42-0 Sterling. I sent a very harsh e-mail to them for that and let them know how I felt about that. they replied and changed it, but I told them I will never visit their website again. Houston Chronicle is so far up NS's behind, they think there is no football east of them. Central is used to it. The only thing I say is to keep playing and keep winning and then you will earn respect. This year, We are doing pretty darn good even though we are still low in the rankings. Just keep winning is what I say. All that matters is what you do in the playoffs anyway.
-
All the experts that didn't give respect for Central for our deep run last year and came in this year to not only consider us contenders, but not even pick us to make the playoffs, what do you have to say now? We have clinched a playoff spot and possibly be playing for a district title. I told you that the kids took it personal. What do you have to say now? (you know who you are!)

#15 Central @ Livingston Predictions
BMTSoulja1 replied to BigWolf10's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jags will stay focused. They lost their focus will the big soul bowl festivities and with all of beaumont there, but regained it in the second half against Ozen. Players realize that they have a chance to win district and will not be denied. Livingston is in trouble. They will catch a very hungry team. Central by 21+. -

In the D2 Bracket after you play the first Bi-District game, and if you win do you play a second Bi-District game or do you start playing in the regionals ? I know if you play in the D2 bracket there is one more game to be played than if you were in the D1 bracket. I just don't know were that extra game falls in the bracket.
With the 4 team playoff format, why would D2 play one more game than D1? If you have 2 teams in D1 and 2 in D2 how is there a difference in games played? Curious?
Back when only 3 teams from each district make the playoffs, there was a shorter road to State for the D1 representative vs. the D2. 1 team used to make D1 from each district and 2 teams made D2 from each district. D1 had less teams with less games. D2 had more teams with more games.

Vidor at Nederland Predictions
BMTSoulja1 replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't know what to say. Vidor went through this stretch where there were not playing Pirate ball, but seem to be back to their old self in beating LC-M. You have Nederland who is riddle with injury and have Mr. Forney who appears to be the man they need at QB. They have lost to the likes of Ozen, but seem to be turning the corner. Both teams are turning it on at the right time. I really don't know. I've been rolling with Vidor all year, but they have came up short a few times. Heck, I have to go against them this time (sorry, Rustedcutlas). Nederland 28-27. -
Angleton is the real deal. They will be tough to beat.
::) @ Angleton. They can be beaten. You have to have the horses to do it. The QB is the real deal and the RB is nice.

*Central vs. Ozen/Central wins 50-23/comments
BMTSoulja1 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Great Win, Jags. We needed this type of game. Ozen came out to stop our running game and it worked for a half. We had some key passes dropped. Ozen on the other hand connected on several passes. Halftime adjustments were key. We passed at will (yea, that's right, we can pass for our critics... you know who you are ;D ) , which opened up our running game. Major props to #3 for Central for showing our other recievers how to make catches and do something with it. Thanks for keeping our head above water when things looked bleak in the first half. Our defense then started flexing their muscles with an INT that put us in position to score and several bone crushing hits, one on the Ozen reciever on the crossing rout(slow getting up) and the hit on the QB in the 4th (hardest hit I've seen all year). This kid couldn't even make it back to the sideline after being introduced to #44 from Central. (hope that kid will be ok.) All in all I think that we are a well rounded team on offense. We proved we can pass the ball. Our special teams have played flawless for several weeks, and Our defense wins games for us. We look forward to taking care of Livingston next week. Onward, March... ;D
