  1. Astros are only a half game back of the Yankees for 2nd best record in AL. Also, Houston is now the top hitting team in the AL with a team batting average of .255. 5th best OBP (.320), 5th best slugging percentage (.398) 6th best OPS (.718) and 3rd fewest strikeouts (557). Houston is 3rd in AL in pitching with a 3.40 ERA. They have the 2nd most quality starts with 35, given up the 3rd fewest HR with 71, has the most K's as a staff with 716 (only team in AL with 700 or more). Lead the league in opponent on base average with .217 and lead the league in WHIP with 1.14. Houston doing all this with several key players on the IR.
  2. Astros with a 3-1 road loss to Athletics. Still have a 4.5 game lead on Seattle. 5 on Rangers.
  3. McCullers scheduled to start tonight but has been scratched. Headed to IR 4 starting pitchers on the IR SMH
  4. They play next weekend
  5. Nice try. Pretty certain you think a 9 point win in basketball is a blowout.
  6. You lost us all when you said a 9 point win in basketball is a blowout. Anything you say afterwards we all have to take with a grain of salt.
  7. He is at Barbers Hill. Both are at BH.
  8. Meaning= I lost the argument because I am so clueless to the subject matter.
  9. Astros are in first in the AL west (by 4 games) while Ronel Blanco, JP France, Zach Dezenzo, Luis Garcia, Yordan Alvarez, Christian Javier, Chas McCormick, Spencer Arrighetti, and Hayden Wesneski are all on the injured list! That’s 8 key players on the IL.
  10. That last statement is so comical. Completely tells us your knowledge (lack thereof) of the game. You do realize that a 9 point win is just a 3 possession game which many teams have lost those leads in less than a minute of game time. Hardly a blowout. Now if you want to say a 9 run win in baseball is a blowout, then you would be accurate in stating that. But basketball, that's a joke. You should also be advised not to debate basketball knowledge with TxHoops.
  11. I think your definition of "competing" is much different than everyone else's definition of "competing". IMO (and most anybody's) making the conference tourney finals is competing. Finishing 2nd or 3rd in the regular season standings is competing. Not competing would be finishing in the bottom half of the standings. Would everyone here love for Lamar to win championships and make NCAA tourneys? Of course. But your take that Lamar has to win championships in order to be competing is absolutely wrong and so unrealistic. I honestly believe that Lamar is heading in the right direction under this AD.
  12. That's him. He also is their best RB and one of the best in the district.
  13. Gordon is scheduled to start Friday.
  14. Some would say the best two way player in the district.
  15. Astros with a bad home loss to the White Sox. 4-2 Astro pitching gave up only 4 hits but had 8 walks. McCullers had 4 BB's.
  16. Maybe the better analogy is Kelly's Heros. They were helping win the war but had a greater goal in getting some gold for themselves.
  17. Astros kinda mailed this one in. Gave Altuve the day off, sat Rodgers and played Whitcomb at 2nd, used Pena as the DH and had Dubon at SS and played Melton in LF. Houston was 1-8 with runners in scoring position (Dubon 0-2, Melton 0-3, Smith 1-3) I thought Walter did a good job starting, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits thru 6 innings.
  18. Brown had a so so start. Had 5 BB and a hit batter in 5 1/3. Did have 9 k's but struggled with control today. Still only gave up one run. Had over 100 pitches in that 5 1/3. That's very un-Brown like.
  19. Statistically speaking, Houston is the best team and currently playing the best in the AL West.
  20. When I get time, I'll post the schedules for the 33 coverage area teams that are participating.
  21. Hader is now 16 for 16 in save opportunities.
  22. I don't think this had anything to do with commitment.
  23. Good question. I was told some just decided not to go.
  24. I said one of the best, not necessarily THE best.
  25. Silsbee did not make the final of this qualifier. Some of the regular guys did not go to this qualifier. Silsbee had to play 5 incoming freshmen (basically 8th graders) in this one. This was Silsbee's last chance to qualify for state 7 on 7. They will not be playing any other qualifiers.
