  1. LMAO!! You weren't interested in his program. You were only interested in knowing why they canceled so you can say if they "chickened out" or not. Unreal SMH
  2. Not sure why you thought the Washington coach owed you an explanation. I imagine he has better things to do with his time. But I am certainly not surprised that you emailed the guy about a game being canceled, That's some funny stuff. lol
  3. You not knowing who those two are tells me all I need to know about your knowledge of the area basketball scene. Doug Jones is a Port Arthur guy. Very in tuned to the high school basketball in this area and Houston. The conflict was from both sides and the fact that Washington had to start district play a week earlier than scheduled. They had no choice but to cancel. Neither could come up with a make up date that suited both teams. Only thing I saw wrong with Washington was them waiting at the last minute to cancel.
  4. He is very wrong on the subject. Jim Hicks and Doug Jones of RCS Sports has a very different take on the cancelation of that game. I'll take their word over his any day when it comes to Houston area basketball. But regardless of the reason, United could play a warm up game if it so chooses and if someone would agree to play due to the cancelation.

  7. Pretty much. Since the playoffs now include 4 teams there is no longer a bye in the first round for the district champion. A lot of those warmup games involved the 1st place teams not wanting to have too much time off. Also the UIL changed rules about how many games a team can play in a season before playoffs. Teams now play their quota and cannot play a warmup game. Most teams that play them now are teams who went deep in football playoffs and are looking to get more games under their belt. There are also teams that haven't met their quota of games and had a pretty easy district schedule and look for a tough match up before playoffs. But those are few and far between. Coaches have just got out of the notion of playing warmup games these days.
  8. Missing the playoffs in 20-4A is not the same as missing it in 19-4A. But neither hasn't missed just yet. And I think it's been said many times this season. This is one of the weaker HJ teams of late. Coach Davis is doing a great job to have them in position to make playoffs. At least he has more than one win vs. a playoff team this season.
  9. Here are some important match ups for this week. Last district game so I'm only listing key games with playoff spots and seeds riding on the results for both teams involved. 11. I have seen some really really good Lamar teams (Tubbs, Foster) lose to some bad teams on occasion. It happens. Happened to Tic several times. One bad loss doesn't make a season or a team. I stated from the start of the season that this was a different and better Lamar team than the last couple of seasons. That has played out very "truthfully".
  12. Not going to start a new one until both teams take care of business next Tuesday and that we know there will be a third game.
  13. I see. So your "truth" statements are fluid. Gotcha
  14. You made a very similar post just two weeks ago. After a loss, which made them 9-9 on the season, you stated they were no better than the team of last two years. They were the same team. You change your tune to fit your "truth".
  15. But you don't speak the truth. You stated that this Lamar team was the same team as the last two seasons. They were no better than they were last two years. If you believe that to be true, then you have zero credibility.
  16. Lamar with a 75-56 win over Nicholls St. Cards are now 13-10, 7-3 in conference play. Currently tied for 3rd. But it's the same team from last two years because @spidersal only speaks the truth.
  17. Final playoff spots have to be played. In regards to seeding games (#1, 2, 3) there are multiple options. First and most used option is play the game. Winner gets the higher seed. Coaches can agree to simply flip a coin. This can be done two different ways. The winner of the flip gets the higher seed (1 over 2 etc.). Or the winner of the flip can choose the seed it prefers out of the two being flipped for. The other option is one of the teams can concede the seed to the other. This has happened a few times when a coach thinks taking the lower seed is a better route for his team in the playoffs. Now there are some districts (not all) that require two teams tied for #1 seed to play the game. Other options are not available. I do not know if 22-3A is one of those districts. I see Kountze and Orangefield playing but can see both agreeing to a coin flip. One things for sure. If one coach wants to play and the other does not, then the coach that doesn't want to play has to concede the seed.
  18. ??? Is this a prediction for 3rd game or game played last night?
  19. Another update in the original post reflecting the results of games played yesterday and today, Feb. 9 and 10. We now have 33 of the 44 playoff spots clinched. Still sitting at 6 #1 seeds out of the 11. Looking like we have the possibility of 2-3 play in games and around 5 seed games for end of next week. Exciting times!!
  20. Yes, West Brook clinches playoff spot with the win. 3rd seed still up for grabs between them and CE King.
  21. Final 86-66 CE King
  22. Just checking because I'm usually the only one putting lines out. I know others come on here and predict scores, but using the word "lines" caught my attention. Just wanted to make sure.
