I HATE IT!! Most folks I have talked to hate it too. I know that Silsbee and WOS voted against it, the other schools in 21-3A voted for it. Either start the games at 4:30, or go back to how it used to be. There is no sense in having the boys varsity game start after 8pm. Two district games and Silsbee's start times for those varsity boys games have been 8:30 (HJ game) and 8:10 (WOS game). No prior sub varsity or varsity girls game went in OT in either of these games. RIDICULOUS!!! The other problem, only two schools in the district (HJ and Silsbee) have auxilary gyms that are adjacent to the main gym, which therefore fans are in the same building, making it much easier to see sub varsity games. All the other schools have to use gyms in other locations, with WOS actually having to bus their teams across town to the middle school for the sub-varsity games and then back to the high school for the varsity games. A coaching and administrative nightmare!! I really hope they go back to how it was the last few years and have all the boys games opposite of where the girls games are.

Silsbee trailed 45-42 with under 4 minutes remaining, then finished the game with a 14-2 run to get the hard fought win. Silsbee's defense is what won this game for them. The offense definitely sputtered tonight but that was because the Mustangs played great defense themselves. Credit to WOS for taking it to the Tigers tonight. In the end, it was Silsbee's experience in big games that won it for them down the stretch. Not having Lane the whole 2nd half hurt the Tigers offensively and couple that with DC having to sit for 10 of the 16 minutes in the 2nd half, made matters worse. Silsbee definitely gutted this one out. Kudos to the Tiger bench for pulling them through. Again, it's the strength of this team that the Tigers have over their 21-3A opponents, a much deeper bench. Chris Elam came off the bench to lead Silsbee in scoring, getting 16 points. Stallworth finished with 11, getting 7 in the last 4 minutes of the game. Gaines had 10 and Lane finished with 8, only playing the one half. Robert Redd led WOS with 17, while D'Andrus Brooks had 11. Silsbee was a dismal 2 for 18 from the 3 point line, 11%, while WOS went 6 for 19, 31%. Silsbee out rebounded WOS, 42-32. Silsbee shot 14 of 21 from the free throw line for 66%, WOS was 15 for 20, 75%. Silsbee improves to 21-2, 2-0 in district, WOS falls to 11-12, 1-1.

Only dunks that matter(other than it counts as 2 points) are dunks in traffic, aka, alley oops, rebound dunks, or driving through the paint and flushing it in someone's face. Snowbird dunks(95% of all high school dunks) really makes no difference in the attitude of the game.

Any coach would be looking to better himself. Kirbyville is definitely not the "end-all" type of job. I don't see anything wrong with Jack trying to get a 5A, 4A or bigger 3A job. As for the talent coming up at Kirbyville, I saw their freshman team play some this year, was not too impressed.
