1.
Thats what the Orange Leader had 57-56 WOS.
I would go with that score.
2. A lot of these games that have been mentioned in this thread I have personally witnessed myself.'08 3A state title game, Kennedale and Burkburnett, '95 Lincoln/Silsbee regional final, HJ/Silsbee '07 regional final, WOS/Yates 3OT game, Crockett/Silsbee 2008 regional semi-final, Aldine/Silsbee play off preview game with Johnson and "Sticks" Harris, '08 4A championship game between SOC and FW Southwest, '07 5A final between Duncanville and Kingwood, and the Peaster/Wellington '99 final, all great games that I also saw. But, none compare to that '72 game between Dallas Roosevelt and Houston Wheatley. Not even close.
3. As for memorable endings to a game, the one that sticks in my mind was the 1978 4A(now 5A) state championship between Houston Wheatley and San Antonio Fox Tech. This was the first year the state tourney moved into the Frank Erwin Center and there was 15,000 at this game. The ending was one the worst coaching decisions that I have ever seen. Fox Tech led Wheatley 83-82 and Wheatley missed a game tying shot then fouled a Fox Tech player with 1 second left on the clock. Fox Tech was in the double bonus so the player went to the line to shoot two. BTW, Wheatley was out of timeouts. Fox Tech missed the first free throw and then the coach of Fox Tech instructed a couple of his players to line up on the lane for the second free throw attempt. Fox Tech missed the second free throw and then a Fox tech player went over the back of a Wheatley player, committing a foul as time expired. Wheatley went down and made both free throws with no time on the clock and won the state championship, 84-83. To this day, I have yet to understand why the Fox Tech coach had his guys line up for the rebound on that free throw attempt. I will never understand it.

5.
# of turnovers is often dictated by the style of play of both teams this is not like football where only a few occur each game turnovers are part of the game of basketball, i don't think you can go on just turnovers but who converts the turnovers they cause points per turnover is a big deal 20 turnovers is not a big deal if each team has 80-90 possessions 20 turnovers is a big deal if each team only has 50-60 possessions
100% agree. Silsbee is playing great defense and I believe can overcome some turnovers.
6. I would put PAM's Shaquille White in the class of a Thomas or Donahoe as far as PG's go.
7. Big 12 standings: TEAM CONF. W-L OVERALL W-L Kansas          8-0  22-1 Kansas State  6-3  19-4 Texas A&M      6-3  17-6 Texas            5-3  19-4 Missouri          5-3  17-6 Baylor            4-4    17-5 Oklahoma        4-4  13-9 Oklahoma State 4-5  16-7 Texas Tech      3-5  15-7 Iowa State      2-6  13-10 Colorado          2-7  11-12 Nebraska        1-7  13-10 Aggies would love to have that overtime loss to tu back. Tough to lose to a team that never led in all of the regulation. Got to get payback in Reed Arena.
8.
I dont no about Sis. or HJ but the lack of a point guard will hurt Konutze. Bray is a great small farward but lack the ballskill to beat a good press. I have not seen a realy good pg this year from any team. I have not seen McGallion play fron Spur. this year but last year he was the strongest in the area that I saw. Who ever is the #1 seed will get the 3 Seed in the 1 round of the playoffs so I dont think turnovers will hurt that much but after that you have to take care of the ball on ever trip up the floor.  Not turning the ball over is the answer to winning any championship in any sport.
True Blue, I thought you knew basketball?  ::) The #1 seeds out of districts in classes 3A and down get first round byes. Those teams could possibly face #2 seeds in the 2nd round, which would be their first playoff games. ;)
9. Well, I consider HJ one of the top teams in Region 3 and in the state. If Silsbee can turn it over 23 times against them and still win, then they can do it against other teams in the playoffs and still win. Do I want or expect them to turn it over that many times? NO!! But the Silsbee/HJ game is as intense a game as any playoff game that either team will face. I just don't see a playoff game with another opponent being more intense than that unless you get to Austin. I totally understand what you are saying about the turnovers. But to simply say that neither team can win in the playoffs while turning it over, I just don't agree with.
10. The Enterprise had WOS winning 42-41.
11. Well, Silsbee turned it over just 14 times against Bridge City last Friday night. ;D BTW, when Silsbee went to the state tourney in 2008, they turned the ball over 20 or more times in three of their 5 playoff games. ;) They only turned the ball over 16 times against Kennedale in the semi-finals.
12. I really urge you guys to check your picks after you post them. There has been several that have failed to make a pick on a game or two. I have to count them as wrong picks.
13. The best and most exciting game that I have ever seen was the first year I attended the state tourney. It was the 1972 4A (which is now 5A) semi-final between Dallas Roosevelt and Houston Wheatley. Roosevelt defeated Wheatley 111-109 in regulation before a standing room only crowd there in Gregory Gym. I remember there were actually people that had crawled up on the roof of the gym to watch the game through the windows that were at the top. Incredible!!!! Favorite game I ever saw was the 1976 regional final between Silsbee and Rockdale. Silsbee trailed by 20 at halftime but made a huge comeback in the second half and got a steal by Artie Shankle with 6 seconds left and he made the layup as time expired to win it for Silsbee and send them to Austin.

15. Raynisha Washington scored 42 points last night for the Lady Tigers! WOW!!!!!!
16. In regards to Vidor's and WOS's enrollment, Vidor turned in 1465 and WOS 690 for this year's realignment. So it's safe to say that Vidor has twice the enrollment as WOS and almost 4 times that of Kirbyville.
17. I two teams tie for the second place spot after splitting their two games against each other, you have two options. You can play it off for the second seed or you can flip for the second seed. The loser will gain the third spot.
18. Tiger baseball will hold it's own. They may not even play each other, but Silsbee is playing in the Jasper tourney. But we digress. Typical of a beaten opponent to change the subject. ;D
19. Silsbee called the "Dawgs" off this year. ;D
20. It's just for a few Jasper fans. They know who they are. ;) ;D I actually congratulated Bailey and Spikes on their play and the win when they came down to watch the Jasper/Silsbee game this year. I even had my picture made with those two by a Jasper fan. ;D BTW, Silsbee won that game this year by 40. ;D
21. I guess if you only have two wins in the history between the two, you have to hang your hat on one of them. ;) ::) It's kind of hard to respect a team that has a .0204 winning percentage against you. ;D It was a very good win for the Dawgs, but as expected, they have digressed back to their mediocrity.
22. I'll take Silsbee's record of 96-2 over Jasper any day. ;)
23. It really doesn't matter now. ;D
