  1. Here is the bracket: REGION III R17 Bullard vs. T18 Center, TBA winner faces W20 Crockett R19 Mexia vs. T20 Fairfield, TBA winner faces W18 #20 Lufkin Hudson R21 #11 Hardin Jefferson vs. T22 Liberty winner faces W24 #9 Navasota R23 BYE vs. T24 Taylor T24 Taylor vs. W22 #7 Cleveland *** T17 Chapel Hill vs. R18 Jasper winner faces W19 Lorena T19 La Vega vs. R20 Athens winner faces W17 Tatum T21 WOS vs. R22 Coldspring Oakhurst winner faces W23 BYE T23 BYE vs. R24 Cameron R24 Cameron vs. W21 #8 Silsbee
  2. There are two other district winners in the lower bracket. 17-3A winner Tatum and 19-3A winner Lorena. Both these teams could face each other in the regional quarters. The first time Silsbee could face a district winner would be the regional semis and it would either be Lorena or Tatum, assuming that these teams make it that far along with assuming Silsbee makes it that far. The reason the lower bracket has only 3 district winners compared to the upper bracket's 4 is because district 23-3A winner is in the lower bracket. We all know there is no district 23-3A, therefore no district winner to contend with. There is a possibility that Silsbee or any other team could face no district winner all the way through regionals.
  3. Where is this game being played?
  4. I agree, if HJ makes it to the regional final, they will have earned it. If Silsbee makes it to the regional final, one could argue that they did not play anybody to get there. You could say one would be better prepared or wore out from the trip an the other is ill prepared or very well rested for the final.
  5. As soon as UIL updates their site, I will post the bracket.
  6. If we are talking just football, it would be: Raymond "Stud" McGallion, James Hunter, William Graham, and Bobby McGallion If it's all sports, then I would replace Graham and Bobby with Darryl McArthur and either Chris Barnes or Mark Henry.
  7. I know some said that this game 3 was not very meaningful, but I would like to illustrate why I think the game was important. The #1 seed out of our district gets a bye in the first round. This will enable the team to get some deserving rest. They will then face Cameron, a team that hasn't done any barn burning this year. If the Tigers take down the Yoeman, then in the regional quarterfinal round, Silsbee would most likely face WOS, a team they have defeated twice already this year, by an average of about 20 points. A win over WOS would put the Tigers in the regional tourney. As for the #2 seed, IMO, it is a much tougher route to regionals. HJ will play Liberty in the first round. I beleive that to be a win for the Hawks. But waiting for the Hawks in the Area round is top 10 ranked Navasota. If HJ manages to take down the Rattlers, then they would most likely face another top 10 team in Cleveland in the regional quarters. HJ has to play 3 games total with two of the three against top 10 opponents. Silsbee only plays two games total, and none of which will be against a top 10 ranked team and also one of those teams would be a very familiar opponent, one that they would have much confidence in going up against. I know some think that no route is any easier than the other, you have to play each and every game. Anything can happen when you play in the playoffs. Just ask that '98 Silsbee team who was 32-0, ranked #1 in state and ranked nationally. They lost in the first round. But in my opinion, winning that game last night made the road to regionals easier for Silsbee and tougher for HJ. I think by Travis agreeing to play the game instead of conceding the #1 seed, is proof in the pudding.
  8. I would bet my life savings that Turner can dunk too. But who cares who can dunk. Big deal. I could dunk when I was in high school.
  9. That's a good one there, westend1. I think many basketball programs in this area would extend that invitation. Hey AAW what happend to the broadcast the other night..........? Had problems with PNG's network, could not get on the internet. Also, our back up broadcast, cell phone, was not available due to our producer being out of town. When we broadcast a game by cell phone, I have to have someone in studio producing it. If I am able to get on the internet on my own, I do not need any to produce the game, I am my own producer. I apologize for the inconvience.

  11. Mainly because nobody from PA has been on here talking about them.
  12. Yes. Cameron Yoe got a bye in the first round due to the fact there is no district 23-3A. That is who they would have faced in the first round. In fact all three district 24-3A teams, Navasota, Cameron Yoe, and Taylor, got first round byes.
  13. Glad you coud make it J-dog, I got tired of talking to Mr We, he always over looking our lil dogs, we are focus on Chapel Hill and he got Silsbee winning state already. Good luck Silsbee and Jasper. Focusing on one game at a time and taking care of business is the way to advance. I am kind of glad to be getting a shot at Chapel Hill to see if we can do in basketball that which we did not do in football. I understand we will be getting another look at that big running back. Ooh yes sir we will, I just hope AggiesAreWe, do not show up, he is bad luck for the Jasper bulldogs ;D Where is the game being played at? You are banned from all Jasper Games ;D I wouldn't doubt it. I have never seen them win a basketball game. ;D

  15. That's true. That would put Silsbee winning 3 of the last 4 against HJ.
  16. No, HJ won the first district game last year, Silsbee won the second game. HJ did win two in a row in '07. They won the last game of district and then won the regional final game.
  17. You kid yourself thinking that anyone is looking past their opponents to focus on Jasper. A 44 point loss at home that the Dawgs suffered at the hands of the Tigers makes Jasper an after thought. My post stating that Jasper being in Silsbee's side of the bracket was the dogs doom is testament of Jasper getting unlucky, not Silsbee targeting the bulldogs. Just makes our side of the bracket much easier.
  18. no stats, but Jasper scored many more points from downtown than did Hudson. Not enough obviously. Watch your tone MR. We, your feelings might get hurt again , we do not want this post to get deleted, Jasper will be ok. We??? You mean you don't want this post to get deleted. Jasper messed up by not winning this game. Now they are in the Tiger's side of the bracket. The Dawgs are doomed. ;D WE???? YES U, Jasper will be fine, you just pack your little head set and computer to Lufkin Tuesday night to watch your favorite two players Spikes and BAILEY, I know how much you love these two kids. ;D ;D Are you suggesting I come broadcast their final basketball game Tuesday night? I think I'll broadcast a real team Tuesday night, Hardin-Jefferson.

  20. I couldn't have said this any better, Tiger90. Good post. I will add though, that Todd does an excellant job of surrounding himself with great assistants.

  22. I agree with Lazeek's thoughts here. I will add that I was very proud of Silsbee's bigmen in how they stepped up tonight. Kendrick Jones and Avory Thomas, the Tiger's twin '6"6 post, controlled the boards, blocked and or altered shots, and played smart defensively tonight. Both were also active on the offensive end, getting some crucial offensive rebounds and putbacks. D.C. Stallworth only played a few minutes of the game but really wasn't much needed with the play of Jones and Thomas. Also, Brady Byars tweaked an ankle in the first half and never saw the court in the second half. In his place stepped Kelon Archer and Rahkeem Bolton who did a good job of picking up the slack. Silsbee only attempted 9 three's tonight, making 3, after making 11 of 16 Tuesday night. The Tigers attacked the basket like HJ did Tuesday night and it paid off. Silsbee was the more agressive team tonight. Congrats to both teams on a great district season and now it's on to the playoffs. I hope we meet again on March 7th.
  23. Someone please decipher this post for me, my head hurts.
