OK what away games do you hate to go to,and why?
AggiesAreWe replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hamshire Fannett definetly needs to upgrade their visitor side. Very small stands with absolutely no ailes to walk up or down on. Also, the spaces under the seats are so big that an actual adult could fall through let alone a small child. Only thing saving you is that the stands aren't that tall so it wouldn't be too far to fall. -
I love second chances! Man, am I hungry! Thirsty too!

I bought you a gift card to Hooters for your B-Day, but then for some odd reason I got hungry and went there myself. Tough luck.

Who do you think will be 21-3a Champs for 07?
AggiesAreWe replied to ItsMeSnitches's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well, I saw both Kirbyville and Newton play last year. I saw them both play Silsbee in real games, not scrimmages. They both lost to Silsbee, Kirbyville 42-32, Newton 27-23, but I was more impressed with Newton than I was with Kirbyville. Silsbee actually led Kirbyville at one time by more than 3 td's, the Tigers got a little relaxed in the 4th and Kirbyville scored a couple of late td's to make it respectable. The Newton game on the other hand was back and forth. Silsbee scored with 2 minutes left to go ahead 27-23 and then held off Newton to preserve the win. Kirbyville will be good, no doubt. But I am predicting my Tigers to beat them, just like they always do. -
I 've got patience enough to wait it out. A name or some names will eventually surface be it on tv or print. Very sad.

Dawie, the winner of the 2007 Silsbee Men's Golf Association Invitational and not to mention a 1st team Ping All American out of Lamar, shot an erratic round of +2, 73, tied for 40th after the first round of the Nationwide's Children's Hospital Invitational. Dawie's round consisted of 5 birdies, 6 pars and 7 bogeys on what was a difficult day on the Scarlet course at The Ohio St. University. The average score today was about +5 in very windy conditions. If Dawie can shoot anywhere around par tomorrow, he should easily make the cut.

Sell beer at games!!!!!! just kidding The interference rule should change like mentioned in a previous post. Also, some advice to some of the refs, you could call holding, offensively or defensively, on every play, but don't feel like you are obligated to do so. Particularly when the hold has no influence on the play.

Craig Martin of Silsbee made a 52 yarder against PNG last year. -
Best QB To Ever Come Out Of Your School?
AggiesAreWe replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Whoever that qb was, I remember my Silsbee Tigers putting a hurting on him in '01. I believe Silsbee sacked him about 7 times that game, with several qb hurries. -

For Silsbee, it would be Jay McGuire and Artie Shankle. Honerable mention would be Ricky Price and Robert Arline. -
Any Sophmore Starters 21-3A
AggiesAreWe replied to HJ-Hawks25's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jeremy Johnson will be the starting qb for Silsbee. The '6"2 170 pound 4.5 sophmore has the potential to be a very special player by the time he finishes high school. Looking forward to watching him the next three years. Silsbee may have one or two more sophmores playing varsity this year, but I don't know if they will be starters. -

Silsbee's Desmond Doss was district MVP in both football and basketball his senior year. He wasn't too bad in track also. This year Silsbee will have Donovan Harris, who excels in both football( first team all district) and track( defending state champ in 110 hurdles). Also heard he will be playing basketball this year. A little bit of trivia for you guys. What athlete was drafted in the first round in the NFL, NBA, and Major League drafts? -

It will be Silsbee again. And it will be the same result, a loss for Splendora, but probably not as close. -
Horns to retire Kevin Durant's #35
AggiesAreWe replied to DenisGScott's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think Rick Barnes is wrong when stating that it was the same criteria for Durant that it was for Ford. T.J. did more, taking his team to a final four. One year just isn't enough. This is really silly, kind of demoralizes the others who got their numbers retired at that school. -
Best "Team" Ever At Your School?
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I agree, the '77 team was probably Silsbee's best, lost in state semis to eventual state champ Dickinson 12-0. Dickinson won the state game over Brownwood 40-14. Many have said the Silsbee-Dickinson game was really the championship game. I also liked the '98 Silsbee team. After starting off the season 2-3, this team kept getting better and better every week, finally losing to LaMarque in the regional finals 21-12. LaMarque lost in the state finals that year to Stephenville. p.s. The Tigers started their playoff run that year with a first round win over previously undefeated WOS. Loved that game. ;D -
Just stay humble Lumberton, just stay humble. Until you guys make the playoffs, it's best to be that way.

Willie Jones was a fine athlete, but IMO, not good enough to make this list. -

Not sure where Desmond is at these days. I do know this, he is the only athlete that has come through Silsbee that was district MVP in both football and basketball his senior year. That's pretty impressive to me. Probably one of the best athletes to ever come through Silsbee. -

Like I said in the thread, this list is based on not just high school performance but college and pro. Randy Matthews was a very good qb but I have to give the knod to Bobby McGallion, He holds all the qb records at Silsbee and he went on to be the starting qb for Bill Yeoman's Houston Cougars for a couple of years. Craig McGallion did play defensive line for Silsbee his senior year, played lb his soph. and jr. years. He did go on to play d-line at UH. Sid was a good reciever, but I think Desmond Doss brought more to the position and as for Garrett, well he played several years for the Pittsburgh Steelers at that position, winning a couple of Super Bowls. As for Gary McGuire, yes he did not play his senior year at Silsbee due to injury, but I could not leave off a player after playing his four years at UH, leaving the school as the school's all-time leading tackler and at that time the SWC's leading tackler. -

There were several players that I left off my Silsbee list, too numerous to name. I had to cut it off somewhere. That's just who I thought was the best. -
