  1. He is a tranfer from Louisiana, he is not eligible till next week.
  2. No broadcast of Silsbee game tonight. We pick them back up Tuesday night.
  3. I would like to hear that too. My observation is that the only people that gain from it is the media, gives them another story to write.
  4. Nos doesn't know what he is talking about either. ;D
  5. Central vs. Ozen LCM vs. Vidor Nederland vs. Livingston PNG vs. Lumberton
  6. WOS @ Silsbee HJ @ BC HF @ Orangefield
  7. Silsbee looses two starters: Robinson and Walters. Other Seniors are Byars, Jackson, Archer, Barnes and Skinner. Byars sees lots of minutes and is a streaky good 3 shooter. Jackson and Archer give the guards some rest and Barnes and Skinner give the big guys some rest. Starter Hill is a Jr., starter Lane is a Soph. and starter Stallworth is a Soph. Also, '6"6 former starter Avory Thomas is just a junior and '6"6 Barnes who is moving up from the jv this week is a soph. along with Xavior Harris who is a '6"3 soph.
  8. Give me your picks for games in 21-3A: WOS @ Silsbee HJ @ BC HF @ Orangefield
  9. Have no clue about the boys. I follow the girls. But I can promise you 6 Silsbee players would not be on the list. They are good but not that good. I hope HJ wipes the floor with you guys. C'mon Bleed, you are going to hurt my feelings. ;D BTW, I am still awake.
  10. Donovan Harris? Sure, he wasn't great like Dess but still, the dude can play WR. I watched Harris when he was a junior and he was very good and I thought he would be the best reciver in SETX when he came back for his Senior year but he got in that car wreck and that took some pep out of his step a little but he was fast..........fast enough to win state in track and a good kid also........... Desmond Doss on the other hand could jump high to grab the ball & was fast.......... he was good in basketball also...... plus Desmond Doss only played football his senior year and turned some heads and got to go play football @ Blinn College for a little bit...........So I would say that Doss was slightly better than Harris....... Speaking of Donovan Harris and track...did he go last year? We were there when he won state in the hurdles and we even screamed his name across the field and he just looked very perplexed...like who's hollering for me in the WO-S section. He was awesome then and I remember him getting in the wreck. Just didn't keep up this year like I usually do. Where did he end up going to school? Harris actually won two medals last year. He won gold in the high jump but could not repeat as 110 high hurdle champion, got silver.
  11. Stangchain, when you used the term "bread and butter", that pretty much sumed it up for me.
  12. I think the term "athletic" gets stereotyped a lot. But this comparison of "athletic" and "fundamentally sound" teams is kind of splitting hairs. You can have an athletic team with great fundamentals. You can also have a fundamentally sound basketball team that can't run fast or jump high. I'll take the former, rather than the latter. ;D I'll always believe that coaching is what sets the great teams from the very good ones. I always go back to this example: I have been going to the state tourney every year since 1972, I have seen my fair share of great basketball teams. The one team that sticks in my mind about coaching, or the lack of, is the 1983 Houston Yates team. This team had 4-5 Div.1 signees. Their starting 5 was '6"3, '6"3, '6"6, '6"7,'6"8. Two of these players were great players that actually played some NBA, Ricky Winslow(U of H Phi Slamma Jamma fame) and Carvin Holcomb (Baylor). They came in to the tourney ranked #1 in the state and in the top 10 nationally. They played a Ft.Worth Paschal team in the semis that had no player over '6"3. To make a long story short, Paschal was very well coached and beat this all-world team by double digits. Both these teams were all black, so the stereotype is out the window on this one. But the Yates coach in my opinion did no coaching. The Paschal coach was phenomenal in that game. In all the years of my state tournament experience, I have never seen such an overwhelming amount of talent lose to such a lesser talented team. It was pure and simple, coaching.
  13. From the boxscores that I was able to pull up and the games that I have done, I have Jarvis avg. right at 22 a game, Turner at 17.
  14. Excuse me, you are saying that Jarvis Benard is averaging 30 points a game this season? I find that hard to believe.
  15. The youth will likely hurt them in this year's playoffs, but if they all stay in school and at Cleveland this group of Sophomore's may be the team to beat in Region 3 and in the State the next two seasons!!!!!!! Best of Luck to Cleveland and all teams in 22-3A this season!!!! Now you're just sucking up. ;D
  16. Sweet.......only been to a Aggie Volleyball game and they put a crowd larger than a men's hoop game at LU. There must have been at least 5k in there and the students were incredible and it was on a Sunday afternoon!!!! They played I believe Colorado and there were some smooth looking chics on the floor!!!!!!! :o :o Hey Lazeek, the Ags take their volleyball, softball, and women's soccer teams seriously. Great crowds at all of these sports. But, if you really want to have some fun, come with me to an Aggie baseball game, it's an event!
  17. Hold on a minute!!!!!! You think that the Silsbee bench would finish 3rd in District 21-3A and be ahead of WOS or OF!!!!!! No Way!!!!!! I guarantee even though we will never see it, but WOS and OF would beat the Silsbee bench easily!!!!! C'mon Granny I like it when you talk, but now that is just ignorant!!!! ;D ;D ;D Reminds me of somebody. :
  18. ?? What's this got to do with this thread? Oh sorry aggiesarewe...did not mean to violate the oops I screwed up and posted on the wrong thread clause that I'm sure I either agreed to when signing up for this board or will be soon included in the clause that I agreed to to be allowed to be a poster on this board. My bad! To the subject at hand, believe it or not, most WO-S supporters/posters have realized that we do have more than one subject that we excel at (thanks to the kind and all-knowing posters on setxsports.com). Thanks! Zack Quinn is an excellent coach and guy and he is doing a pretty good job. (Is that more satisfactory and within in the guidelines of commenting on the right topic? Dang it, once again I have probably failed to meet people's standards because I didn't post this on the correct board. I will copy and paste it. Did I pass?) Barely. But I'll give you a break on the lack of reading comprehension. To quote Mr. Muyagi in Karate Kid, " No such thing as bad student, bad teacher." As for your statement on most WOS supporters, you couldn't tell by the posts on this messageboard, and that was my point. Why do you care if the posters only talk on the football forum? Do you loose sleep because WOS posters won't post on the other forums? What is your deal? I know "If I only knew" then tell me please because you only seem to be worried about WOS posters. I thought this was a message board and we were free to post where we wanted to and when we wanted to. I didn't think we would be repremanded for posting on the football forum out of season. : I guess I am going to have to spell it out for you. I have been a member of this site since it's inception and from the very beginning, I have noticed that 99% of WOS posters stay in the football forum. I ask the question, why? Now I ask that question with regard that I believe I already know the true answer to this, but I just wanted to hear some Mustang fans opinions. I believe that the majority of WOS fans stay in the football forums not only because they love football, but also it's where they feel they have the most bragging rights, they can strut their stuff, so to speak. Why they don't venture into the other sports forums is simple, they don't have that sense of superiority in those forums. They don't want to feel that they maybe ridiculed for their teams performance in that particular sport. Example, last year the Mustang basketball team was not very good, they struggled all season. I hardly ever saw a WOS poster come in the basketball forum and show support for the team. Now a couple of years ago when WOS went to the state tourney in basketball, you saw a few posters in the forum, but nothing that would come close to what the football team gets on a yearly basis. The baseball forum and other sports are the same way. What gets me is that the WOS fans have this great show of support for their football teams, but where is it for the rest of their teams? Is it truely based on just success, or do you guys really support your school as a whole? I am singleing out the WOS fans because of the passion I have seen on the football forums from their fans over the entire existance of this site. Why can't that same passion or maybe just some of it be carried over into other sports. Nobody is repremanding anyone for posting in the football forum out of season. I only ask that you show some support for the "other" teams at your school. You guys wonder why us "outsiders" think that all the Stang fans care about is WOS football, and nothing else. Well, from what I have seen on this site and others, supports that theory. I'll finish by saying this, you have the right to post where ever you want. I just find it funny that as soon as football season is over, some of the most fanatic WOS supporters just disappear. And that's all I got to say about that. ;D
  19. Since when did Bridge City basketball get a hostile environment?
  20. Look on the schedule. Ole Chad put some hard work into putting these schedules on the forum.
  21. They way the Bobcats have been playing of late, they are not capable of beating anyone by 30. I say Orangefield wins this one 66-51.
  22. I have seen Cleveland, Coldspring, Liberty, Splendora and Tarkington play this season. Cleveland wins this district easily. If you are considering Liberty, Coldspring and Splendora in the mix for the other playoff spots, then this district is very weak. 21-3A will win both playoff games, no matter who we have representing us.
