  8. Game limits were changed about 10 years ago.
  9. Big game tonight in Pear Orchard. Game three as United won the first meeting in YMBL finals while West Brook won second game (first time around in district play). Who you got? Game will be on Texan Live. Was just added to their lineup today.
  10. UIL rules have changed that doesn't allow some teams to play warm up games these days. Teams now have game limits and once they have reached those limits, you are not allowed to play any extra unless it's for district seeding or play in games. Most teams these days play tournaments that are pool play which allows teams to play more tourney games. That adds up over the season. Also several play in multiple holiday jamborees which adds to their totals. Really the only teams that can play warm up games these days are teams that have to wait till football is over to start their basketball season. Sometimes that's two to three weeks after everyone else has started. Usually that is only in the 3A and down classifications. We still have some teams that will play warm up games this year. I have already received info on some of the games. I will be posting a Seed/Play In/Warm Up Game Info thread on Wednesday morning.
  11. I can understand that response. Orangefield does have some municipality issues that need addressed.
  12. Just depends on if Silsbee goes D1 or D2. That hasn't been settled yet. If Silsbee goes D1 they will play Bullard. If Silsbee goes D2 they will play Madisonville
  13. Denton is ranked higher than Birdville unless you are talking about Birdville still being ranked higher than United.
  14. Silsbee assistant coach Ira Brooks will be coaching his last home game tomorrow night. Coach Brooks will be retiring at the end of this season. Coach Brooks has been coaching at Silsbee for 32 years. He has been a mainstay and key component to the success of the Tiger Basketball program. His JV teams have always been successful and have won many district championships even when several freshmen and sophomores were playing varsity. Coach Brooks has earned the respect and love from many coaches in our area. He has been a fantastic coach but an even better man. He will be missed. Congrats to my friend Ira.
  15. IMO, Mickey Leland will beat Kashmere and will clinch D1 #2 seed. Worthing will lose to Washington, Wheatley will beat North Forest and Furr will beat Northside. This will create a three way tie for 4th spot as all three teams will be 10-8. I see Wheatley emerging from that three way play in. That will put Wheatley as the D2 #2 seed. One thing to point out. If Furr were to somehow be the team to come out of three way, then that will move Washington to D2. I see the playoff qualifiers like this: D1 #1 Seed Washington D1 #2 Seed Mickey Leland D2 #1 Seed Yates D2 #2 Seed Wheatley
  16. UPDATED PLAY-OFF SCENARIO IN DISTRICT 20-4A (entering SUNDAY)! Here is the detailed preview of the Play-Off Picture for this HISD 4A District. In recent years, 3-way tie breakers in HISD are decided by each head coach pulling a straw. The longest straw gets the bye, and the other two must play each other (Normally on a Friday). The winner of that initial game will then play the bye team for the right to claim that final spot (Normally on a Saturday). However, don't be surprised if an effort to compress this "tie breaker tournament" into a single Saturday session, expecially if there is another district with a similar scenario. 1. If Washington and Yates finish as Co District Champs, there will be no tie breaker. Washington is D1 and Yates is D2 bracket. 2. Mickey Leland (10-7) has Kashmere left. Win and they are in as D1 Bracket 2nd Seed. A loss forces a tie breaker scenario 3. Worthing (10-7) has Washington on Feb 18th. Win and they are in. A loss forces a three or four way tie for the final slot(s). 4. Wheatley (9-8) must beat North Forest combined with a loss by either Worthing or Mickey Leland. 5. Furr (9-8) simply has to beat North Side and that pretty much warrants a tie breaker unless Worthing or Mickey Leland to lose. 20-4A WON LOSSES REMAINING 1 DISTRICT GAME (entering SUNDAY) Washington 16 1 Worthing Yates 16 1 Scarborough Worthing 10 7 Washington Mickey Leland 10 7 Kashmere Wheatley 9 8 N. Forest Furr 9 8 N. Side Kashmere 7 10 Mickey Leland Northside 4 13 Furr North Forest 3 13 Wheatley Scarborough 1 15 Yates
  17. I have the current standings going into the last district game. I'll post them in a minute.
