7 years to join the elite, or become a failure for all time

Good friend of mine got messed around with for a local coaching position for next year. Personally I'm glad for him it happened. He's been trying to break through as a head coach for over a decade, but doing it and then going 1-9 or 2-8, and most likely not winning a single district game, isn't really going to do anything for his career.

Roe versus Wade draft seems to overturn
bullets13 replied to thetragichippy's topic in Political Forum
It's been 50 years. Our country is infinitely more liberal than it was 50 years ago, including moderate and republican voters. This move is likely going to amount to political disaster for the right. right when the republican party is poised to take back power in a big way you're galvanizing the left, and once again pushing those "stupid moderate" voters back to the left. -

I definitely think it was leaked to gain an edge in the november elections like you say, but it's not going to help the right. the right is on pace to make huge gains, and pushing this at this time is more likely to derail that to some degree. The left is currently beat down and despondent over how poorly Biden and Harris have done. There's infighting like crazy in the democratic party. And now you've just messed with the one issue that will instantly galvanize the left and bring them all back together. It's dumb. As both sides always do, the right is interpreting disgust and apathy towards the left as an endorsement to push policies far right, which (as normally happens to both sides) will help steady the ship for the left. -

This applies to me as well. It was just a word. You weren't supposed to say it to black people, but a lot of white people would use it when black people weren't around, and most of the time there didn't really seem to be any hatred in it. I can vividly remember a story my grandfather told me when I was 7 or 8 years old about a black guy who was working on his car and stood up and hit the back of his head on the side view mirror so hard it cracked the mirror. My grandfather said something like "man that n- had a hard head!" and then went on to talking about something else. He didn't hate that guy, and he wasn't trying to disrespect him either, that was just a word he'd always used to talk about black people. I honestly can't say how old I was when I really figured out the true harm of the word. I know it was a gradual change from not really paying attention to the word, to being a little uncomfortable hearing it, to not wanting to be around people who used the word. What amazes me to this day is how many people are stupid enough to say it. I mean, if it's a white supremacist at a rally, sure, I expect to hear it. But the fact that there are any white people out there that think it's a good idea to say the word, and think that their world isn't going to fall apart if someone finds out about it is baffling to me. You hear things like "no, I used the soft A on the end". How about you use both of your brain cells at the same time and just shut your mouth? -

If I had the qualifications for that job opening I'd apply just so I could sue them later. -

NBA Playoffs 2022

Mavs with a massive win with Luka still hurt last night. One of the more incredible performances I can remember, to be honest. They hit 22 triples (at a 47% rate) and only turned the ball over 3 times the entire game. It's not common to feel like the home team stole one at home, but that's what happened last night. Hoping Doncic is ready to come back before the next game. -
Saw where they offered Dotson. Smart move to do so early, although I kinda think his ceiling might end up being a little higher than the cards.
-
not sure. he had a couple of good seasons at HJ and BC with special groups of players, but as the talent dried up at each of those schools, so did the wins.
-
whatever the current head coach at the time runs. I don't really know them to make hires based on the offense the coach likes to run, although that might have changed some after Dubois had so much success with the slot-T his first stint there.

yup, it's tough. and even tougher is any qb with prospects probably isn't going to stick around and play for a 4A school with a team that has been mostly bad to terrible since 2002 or so.

Holmgren would be a mistake. Dude is 7 ft tall and weighs 89 lbs. He's going to get bodied down low, and he's not a good enough shooter to stay around the perimeter. I just don't see how he turns into anything more than a mediocre sub in the NBA.
