  1. an amazing career for a guy taken in the 62nd round as a favor for a family friend!
  2. I "waste" my time for a third of that, and I live pretty comfortably. I don't know what your career plans are, but if you make 120K a year, you're doing alright.
  3. pitch count is overrated. it wasn't too long ago that pitchers were expected to go 9 innings most of the time. what a story in lester! comes back from cancer and throws a no hitter!!! jw.. have you ever thrown 100 pitches? let alone 140? lol its not too fun if i was i was paid millions of dollars a year, i think i could put up with it once every five days or so. I'm not saying that it won't wear the pitcher out, but it's not like they don't get plenty of time to recover. pitchers are babied these days. regardless, lester is a fantastic story.
  4. he's gonna be blocking mad shots if they let him use his walker to swat shots away. 120K isn't much for a pro ball player, but at least he has the endorsements from centrum silver and depends adult undergarments.

  6. they probably hadn't. how much can a coach do with a team full of kids that have never played before, won't play any in the off season, and will be forced to play all year against squads with 15-20 kids who've been playing more or less year round since they were four or five years old? you can take five athletes and make them reasonably competitive on the basketball court. you can take a team full of athletes and turn them into a pretty good football team in a years time. you can't take a team full of athletes and expect them to be competitive in soccer. a team full of slow, fat, old, but talented soccer players will beat the crap out of a team of the best non-soccer playing athletes you can find in southeast texas.
  7. This series comes at a bad time for those who are fans of both the rangers AND the astros. I'm a ranger through and through, but i've been more than happy to adopt the stros as my national league team. Right now both teams are hot, and have made really nice runs to get back into things in their respective divisions. I hate it that one of them is about to drop a couple of games to the other.
  8. the puma hit another big homer in the top of the ninth to put the astros ahead. he isn't showing any sign of slowing down!
  9. just means more runners on base for miggy and hunter pence (although pence is in the 3rd spot today)
  10. I KNEW that Coop was a closet soccer fan!
  11. Fat Elvis hit a 2 run homer in the 1st tonight!
  12. sure does, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. i was pleased last year when they finally made some really nice trades of players they were going to lose anyway and brought in a lot of quality prospects.
  13. i won't be surprised if the wildcard comes from their division, i just don't see it happening for them. I would LOVE for it to happen, though!
  14. that's stretching it. i will say they have the potential of being a top 3 or 4 offense. as badly as the tigers are playing, they have the scariest offense in the league, they just aren't clicking yet. there isn't an easy out on that team. Ivan Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield, Miguel Cabrera, Curtis Granderson, Magglio Ordonez, Carlos Guillen, Placido Polanco, Edgar Renteria. There's not a player on that list that you want to face on a regular basis.
  15. just to name a few rangers who were traded and have become very good... Carlos Pena Adrian Gonzalez Chris Young (the pitcher) Edison Volquez there are several more...
  16. that's pretty funny. Duncan is a sissy. he belongs on a team with malone and stockton. then you'd just need two more players to make the all-time NBA boring team. A sissy with four titles!! It's not boring, it's called fundamentals!! Thats whats wrong with the NBA today. It's all about the show and look what I can do. I'll agree with you that a lot has changed, but that's because underneath it all, the NBA is still a business. They're going to do what it takes to make itself the most marketable product possible.
  17. they're in the pennant race every season! (for the first week, anyway ;D )
  18. don't look now, but when you couple the rays' win last night with the red sox loss... and THE DEVIL RAYS ARE IN 1ST PLACE!!!! And this is 40 games into the season! I still don't think there is any chance this will hold up, but they do have a legitimate shot at being a .500 ballclub this year.
