Every time I hear this guy, I am more and more impressed (Crenshaw, not Maher). I wonder if he’s not dramatic enough for the national scale, because he tends to stick to facts and reason.

Top 10 Basketball Players Ever from the Golden Triangle
TxHoops replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
You’re right. State champion, collegiate all American, lottery pick. There’s only a couple (Steve Jackson and Perk) that belong on a very short list with him. -

Big pick up for the Cowboys. Know that staff pretty well and really like those guys. I think that’s a great spot and system for Bray. Congrats to him and his family!

Maybe you’re right. I guess it’s all perspective. I would choose the don’t comment at all until you know something for certain but that’s me. And at no point was offense remotely taken. Differences of opinion are healthy. At least when it’s adults talking and not those children in Washington. -

I’m sure there is some underlying reason Harrison is making these statements. But you have a lot of kids going through a lot and missing a lot right now. Even if there is a remote chance, it is almost surely going to end up being false hope he and the uil are peddling. I am having trouble finding the benefit in that. -

Wait, so the two highest populated states have the most cases? That’s wild. -
That would cut A LOT of posts off this forum.

Montverde Academy Crowned National Champions
TxHoops replied to SportsJunkie32's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Greg Brown, Mike Miles, Micah Peavy, LJ Cryer, Eddie Lampkin off the top of my head. Not sure where this team wouldn’t be disadvantaged. I think you put Bryce Griggs on the team as well. He would be the only top of his class (2022) in Texas on the team since you have the top 2020 kid and the top 2021 kid from Texas already on MV’s roster. -

I agree - James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Luka Doncic, LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan would take them for sure. -
Montverde Academy Crowned National Champions

We are talking about this team which has both. They beat Mater Dei by 40+, DeMatha by 20, Chicago Whitney Young by 26, Atlanta McEachern by 50+, Archbishop Carroll by 50+, scotlandville (La) by 30+, and IMG by 20. All typically perennial powers from across the county. I don’t think you appreciate (from your comments only) how good this team was. You will when you watch some of those kids in the league. Like I said, when 2 of MV’s players from a recent team were top 2 picks and are now NBA all stars (played one year in college), maybe you would concede they would fare well against a low mid team, maybe you wouldn’t. Most believe this year’s team was deeper and better. My opinions don’t have “all of the value.” They might be more informed because I see most of these kids in person every spring and summer, and saw quite a bit of SLC basketball this year. But just my opinion. I happen to have one, as do you. And ultimately it’s all speculation. But it’s a fun topic while we are cooped up and bored. I’m just speculating correctly while you are not 😜 -

Been around it for awhile. Like I said, none of those Yates teams could have challenged this year’s MV team. How many of those Yates teams had multiple lottery picks on the team? I’ll answer for you - none. Like I said, different day and age. Yates will and other Houston teams will have some “juggernauts” in the future but not on the level of this MV team. Just stay in your lane and you’ll be fine. -
Prayers for you Kountzer. Hope you are managing okay.

🤦🏻♂️😂🤣 I doubt there was a team in the history of Houston basketball that could have stayed on the floor with that team. Sorry. You are reaching now. Obviously H-town has struggled to compete with DFW. Thus the recruitment and formation of this year’s Yates team (Which I get - if you can’t beat em, join em). The team that got run out of the gym by a MV team that was toying with them. And FYI, that was a “special local team.” Not saying a “special” Houston can’t compete with some of the National teams, but definitely not a team like this MV team (which if you read the article, is being debated as maybe the best HS team ever). Gone are the days when a Yates team or any Houston team can compete with the national juggernaut teams. You just don’t have the talent base or wherewithal to compete. -

He’s definitely an elite shooter. Big shooting guard (6-6 with a nice frame) who can also score on all 3 levels. Also is really good on the defensive end. Mr. BG is going to be a big fan. -

Definitely agree on all that. It’s just an interesting concept to me. Just to round out the seniors on that team (well, 5 of the 7, the other two I know nothing about): 5 are signed to high majors. Cunningham (Ok St), Barnes (FSU), Sharpe (UNC), Moses Moody (Arkansas), and Zeb Jackson (Michigan). We’ve discussed the first 3 in this thread (all 3 in top 11 or 12 ranked players in that class) but it’s notable that Moody might also be Arkansas’s best player as a freshman. And I’ve seen Jackson live several times over the past couple of years. I think he will be in college the longest out of the five seniors but he can REALLY go. -

So when Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes are the best players on their respective teams in high major conferences in 8 months (Big 12/ACC) - was it this 8 months that made the difference? Because their bodies won’t look much different. In fact, Cunningham has an NBA body at 18. As for coaching, I would imagine Boyle has been offered a TON of mid major jobs. He’s a legend in HS coaching (coached at St Pat’s in Jersey before Montverde). Some guys like the HS level, especially when they are compensated like a mid major college coach. If he ever makes the jump to the collegiate level, it will be to take a head job at a Power 5. Having said all that, I’m not convinced they would beat SFA either. But I can’t imagine they aren’t favorites against the other 13 SLC teams. And Findlay Prep no longer exists. -

When the heck did Kentucky get so much power in this country? They make a darn fine bourbon, have a heckuva horse race, and manage to keep their family trees nice and tight. But no reason for that hillbilly haven to have so much control over Washington. [Hidden Content]
