  1. It’s a mix for me. I do enjoy fast played games for the most part but maybe the hardest game to sit through for me this season was Yates vs Beaumont United early in the season. It was a 2 pt game and 190 pts were scored. But the whole thing was a hot mess that truly resembled an open gym, pick up game. Up and down the floor, jacking it up at the first opportunity. It wasn’t even apparent if a single play was run in 32 minutes. Conversely, I also appreciate a game where you have a battle of wills and opposite styles battling. As Jim Thorpe pointed out, that Silsbee-Argyle game was a classic. And so was the Silsbee-Carter game, which was played completely differently. But we live in a highlight reel, mix tape society now and the high-flying, run and gun basketball is what most fans want to see.
  2. This is the debate with a proposed shot clock. As much as I like watching basketball with a shot clock because I like a fast paced game, Lumberton could not have the season they have had with one. They beat WOS twice by controlling the tempo of the game and dictating the game would be played on their terms. Disciplined, long possessions. Shorten the game by not allowing the mustangs to have the ball. My guess is the Raiders probably had a very lopsided time of possession. So as much as I love fast paced basketball, I have to agree with my friend @AggiesAreWe In the high school game, imposing the clock would take away a lot of strategy which, if executed, can be the great equalizer. And Lumberton Assistant Rideaux is another one vehemently opposed to a HS shot clock.
  3. Matt Graves hits nothing but the bottom of the net from the corner as time expires. Thankfully, he is a better shooter (and much more handsome) than his grandpa
  4. Question for Hornet fans: is the freshman #50 the tambourine guy in the Hardin band?
  5. Tyrone Waggoner sets the school season record for assists with 145 and Valentin Catt sets the school record for blocks in a season with 142 (previous record 91).
  6. OF 43 Hardin 24 H Refs keeping it quasi-competitive.
  7. I agree. I could see Shelbyville maybe winning a nail biter. Or it wouldn’t shock me if the Bucs won by 20. 10 sounds about right though.
  8. He is extremely unselfish with the touches he gets (was 4-6 from the field). He also finished with 16 rebounds and 8 blocks. It was indeed another great game where the Cougars made the plays when they needed to. I have greatly enjoyed watching your boys over the years. Alex is a true competitor and a great player. And I have a great respect for kids like him that are exceptional in the classroom. I know he has a tremendously bright future ahead of him. And it is so refreshing to see kids go at it with everything they have and still display the sportsmanship they did tonight on both sides. Best of luck to Buna in the playoffs!
  9. Buna 47 OF 45 F Bobcats miss wide open layup at buzzer.
  10. I have enjoyed your posts on this forum since you started posting here. They are thoughtful, well-reasoned, and unlike some fans of particular schools, unbiased. And then you go and post a quote from an assinine movie like Dumb and Dumber... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!
  11. I’m one of the three as well. Which means there’s a good chance the Rams will win
  12. Heard Tony Gonzalez on the radio this week saying every team cheats. He wouldn’t give examples but said what the Patriots have been busted for is more the rule rather than the exception.
  13. I agree. A true student athlete too which is refreshing to see. Bright future for that young man.
