I agree. I was at that game and United looked dreadful (not entirely a shock being their first game ever as a school). And lost by 2.

I am rooting hard for the Hawks. It’s a shame two of the best teams in the region have to play in the second round. If the Hawks can be extremely disciplined and not fall into Yates’ playground game, you never know. I am confident HJ will be extremely well coached and play their hearts out. Go Hawks!

[Hidden Content] Met this afternoon with one of the investigating detectives on another matter. He was understandably and visibly shaken by the whole ordeal. There are some things in this world I will never understand. The only solace is that she is now in a better place than any of us and will not have to endure what could have been a torturous childhood. Prayers for the rest of her family and the good men and women in blue who are charged to do a job none of us would envy. I don’t know how they do cases like this to be honest.

I knew going in that Diboll was the worst possible matchup in that district for OF but still thought it should be around a 10 pt game. Then the Bobcats played as poorly as I’ve seen them for 2.5 quarters (credit to the Lumberjacks, their defense was smothering all night). Still you don’t see many games where a team turns it over 36 times and still wins. Just did an extremely poor job of taking care of the ball. By comparison, in the two games vs East Chambers (whose defense is easily the best they’ve seen this year), OF turned it over 21 and 24 times respectively.

I would have been very surprised had the teams gone 1-3. In fact, truthfully, after seeing several of their teams during the season, there were 3 teams in 22-3A that could have won 21-3A.

3A school near metroplex. They won Football, Basketball and Golf in 2015. That appears to be their best year overall.

For instance, in 2005 (and this may not be their record), they won state in Football, Boys Golf, Boys Lacrosse, Tennis, Girls swimming, and Boys wrestling.

My guess is maybe Highland Park too. You know with golf, swimming, and all the sports programs they have that would make some colleges envious.

Credit where credit is due. It’s almost scary how often he hits the nail directly on the head in these. Probably why he wins his bets and I lose mine. Although I did get him once and got a shout out at the state tourney on one of his broadcasts. Once. One of my shining achievements

Not many are going to outcoach the guy on the opposite bench tonight. Foster is one of the very best imo.

On a side note, i told AAW tonight he might be the best I’ve ever known at handicapping games (set it at OF -7). I think Steve Wynn needs to call this guy and get him out West...

I agree with you. So if you meant silsbee will advance and win state, we are on the same page. If you meant if Yates were to upset silsbee they would win state, i don’t think so. I can think of 5 or 6 teams out of the metroplex that would be solid favorites over this Yates team, and possibly the region 1 winner as well. Hopefully none of them are better than silsbee if and when they play.

Yates isn’t beating whoever comes out of DFW. They could be the third best team at State if they were to beat Silsbee. Luckily, absent the Tigers laying an egg, we will never know though.

Atlanta lost its first 2 games of the season and has only lost since to Mineola (who beat perrenial power Edgewood this season) and Coldspring last night. At 28-4 and likely to get to 30 wins, I’m not sure why they would sneak up on anyone. They might have been the third best team in that gym last night.

Agreed. One of the things that most impressed me about them too. And that’s no accident. Living legend in the first seat on that bench for many, many reasons.

Orange County has a similar (albeit on a much smaller scale) with the proposed new Chevron Phillips construction project. A proposed $5 billion project which would bring thousands of jobs to the area. Of course they want tax abatements, and they will get them somewhere. The fiscal benefits the citizens would receive without the taxes makes it a no brainer. If you want growth, you have to be competitive.

Let’s be honest: it’s not easy even WITH incentives.

You worry about games like this when you run through a district like the Lady Bobcats did. I think the second Buna game was the only one where they were even challenged. Sounded like they were shellshoclrd early and weren’t able to close the gap in the second half. Still a great season by the Lady Bobcats. Will miss watching these seniors, and particularly Emmi Lummus play. She has been a defensive menace for Orangefield for the last 4 years (I’m sure it seems longer for their opponents).
