  1. Wow. Small world. That DEC chair who is the sup at Tenaha went to a rival of HS of my own. Ended up kicking/punting at Ok St. and punting for 4 or 5 years for the Falcons. Could shoot the rock in hoops (they won state his jr year) and was a heckuva golfer.
  2. You also probably breathe through your nose...
  3. They reseed when they get to state, based on record. Silsbee could end up being the 3rd or 4th seed, due to the brutal schedule. Just depends on who ends up there.
  4. Or kid shoots a layup, both feet hit the ground, then a defender lands on top of him. Possible 4 point play or, if not in bonus, team that just scored retains possession?
  5. He’s saying it would not be a “shooting foul” because the contact was “after the shot.” He’s incorrect though and had a foul been called, it should have been 3 FTs.
  6. I think the point is that refs don’t just suck during the middle, monotonous portions of the game. Many are equally incompetent in the penultimate, game on the line situations.
  7. I think that’s why a lot of officials don’t like to make the call, especially on a buzzer beater. I also see a lot of flopping on box outs and the like on those plays that shouldn’t be called imo either. But the defender really didn’t leave the officials a choice in this scenario. Took a straight on angle jumping directly into the shooter and made as much after the shot contact as I’ve ever seen (literally layed him out). Maybe all 3 officials followed the ball to the rim after it was released and didn’t see it (like ST413). That would make sense. If they saw it and elected not to make it, it’s a really bad no call.
  8. Respect that about you. Disagree with you at times but you call em like you see em, even when it’s against your rooting interest. Agree completely. I also saw the video. Most refs don’t like to make that call but defender took a terrible angle and completely leveled the shooter. Way too much contact to swallow the whistle. Horrible no call. Making 3 FTs under that type of pressure situation is very tough, even for a really good FT shooter like that kid apparently is. But he should have had an opportunity.
  9. Video of his game winning basket off a missed FT on the front end of a one and one. Took advantage of no one stopping the ball but still ended up having to make a really difficult shot for the win. Big time players make big time shots in big games. [Hidden Content]
  10. Both those teams are ALWAYS well coached. Sounds like Coach Sig did some life coaching tonight. Have always respected him for his discipline of his teams. I had no doubt Coach Davis would have the Hawks ready to play. Also knowing Clay, he’s probably blaming himself for something he could have done differently to win.
  11. I agree. MUCH better for this team imo than a blowout would have been. You need games where you have to perform in pressure situations.
  12. Maybe. But there are a couple of backcourts in DFW that may be top 10 in the country. But I will take those silsbee boys any day of the week. Those kids in Dallas don’t have bigger hearts.
  13. Sounds like a helluva game went down in Sour Lake. Credit to the Hawks. Even without McCain the Tigers would roll the vast majority of teams.
  14. Buna 60 OF 59 F What a great basketball game. Great shot by Connell to give Buna a 1 pt lead with 10 secs left and the Cougars did a good job not giving OF anything easy at the end. Bobcats got killed by 3 1st half fouls on their big which limited him to 5 minutes of action. PG for OF also in foul trouble the whole game and had to sit most of 2nd half. But unfortunately, refs are part of the game (especially on probably all 3 of the fouls on #12). But credit to Buna. Did what they had to to win. In other news, may have been an attendance record for an OF boys game. Both sides were really loud.
  15. Move over WOS (football) and Silsbee (basketball), Hardin has arrived and shall permeate all threads from this point forward...
  16. I hate to take up for Mack but he looks like Brad Pitt compared to they dude...
  17. He said he was not happy with the recruiting limits there. Also, he was not happy with the salary cap and found it constraining (apparently there isn’t one in the SEC).
  18. Cowherd said today he talked to 12 NFL guys today who all said you are right. If he were able to enter the draft as a freshman, he would almost assuredly be the top pick.
  19. The Bobcats move to 20-5 on the season with the win, and 3-1 in district play heading into Friday’s game hosting Buna. Not sure when the last time Orangefield won 20 games but it was before MaxPreps
  20. He’s only been playing for 3 years. Played primarily soccer before that. Crazy athletic for his size. His feet and touch around the basket are pretty amazing given his limited exposure to the game. His vision is really exceptional but I attribute that to soccer - you are used to using your peripheral. His free throw shooting has improved from around 50 over the summer to mid to high 60s this season. He’s been working on that as well. He had 13 (6-6 FGs) & 12 tonight (along with 3 assists, blocks and steals) in 11 minutes of PT. It’s tough to tell much playing in these types of games. But I will say that even playing elite bigs around the country, he’s an elite defender. His knack for blocking shots is pretty special, even if he didn’t have a 7’ wing span. He will play D1. Question of how high will depend on his summer.
